I am guessing that Rocha -- after Texas offered Walton that $700K -- now gets paid what Lombardi was being paid

Big-time ties between Rocha and OU. She played for PG as a Sooner from 1996 through 1998 and holds two academic degrees from OU.

As associate head coach at Florida, you wouldn't think for anything less at OU, where Lombardi held the same title.

Details on Lombardi’s contract. Good for her. Go Sooners and Go Ducks when not playing OU 😜

Makenzie Donihoo from Mustang, Ok, and the 56th ranked player in the 2019 class, has switched her commit from Missouri to Oklahoma. This now gives Patty Gasso 7 commits in the 2019 class ranked in the Hot 100. The one player who is not ranked in the Hot 100, Raylee Pogue, has been ranked in the Hot 100 until the last rankings due to an ankle injury otherwise that would've made all 8 commits being ranked in the Hot 100. Donihoo is ranked 56th in the latest rankings.

And, THAT, folks is the importance of in-state talent. Athletically, that is probably a preferred walkon, but other means are available to keep her familiy's costs very low

I wonder if Kelly tries to follow Rocha, or just want out of Florida if Rocha isn't there.

Sorry Goober12 but I am hoping to either hear coach Rocha received a huge raise, or a contract extension like Tim Walton did. Huge loss for Florida if Jennifer leaves.

I hope so too. I know she has the OU ties but I think it would’ve took a lot to get her to leave. Huge loss if she goes.

I always thought once Jennifer decided to leave Florida she would become a head coach. Not an assistant coach again but I do not know her personally and only see her during games on tv.

Seems lateral. But getting back to her Alma Mater might be that important.

Her alma mater, her former coach. Someone said she has a parent(s) in Oklahoma. And PG quite a bit closer to retirement than TW.

I know Gasso is 10 years older, but I don't see either as anywhere close to retirement.

Plus, Walton doesn't have any of his kids on staff

We'll see what happens, but I'm not sure Patty's son has or should have an expectation that he steps into the OU head coaching role when his mom retires. Maybe he would if she coaches another 10 years. I just don't have a sense that AD Castiglione goes for the family dynasty model. More likely, IMHO, is that PG hired her son to give him a leg up on being a head coach somewhere else someday.

As for the pitching coach thing, I would think Gasso would want someone of the experience and maturity of Lombardi, which would nix former players like Gascoigne and Shults. They're good coaches, but I would think Patty would want someone who's more of a peer than a student. That's Rocha or someone like her.

Just opinions. I have no inside or outside information. Just what I read on message boards -- which is a scary admission.

I have no idea whether or not Rocha will come to Oklahoma. But the part of your post that I highlighted literally made me spew coffee all over my desk.

What Rocha decides and where JT Gasso is coaching have nothing to do with each other. Gasso's not in line to be OU next head coach, and Rocha likely would be – if she decided to return home. You're a funny guy, Lefty, but you're about as transparent as a cup of chicken broth.

I second Fresh's "Bingo".
RahOKU's "PG quite a bit closer to retirement than TW" seems right on the nose - to me.

Terrific news -- and it makes sense given Jen Rocha's OU roots and Gasso's need to fill Lombardi's sneakers with someone from the coaching world with a similar stature.

The best part is Rocha has a great group of young pitchers to work with, backed by a veteran starting lineup in the field. #Boomer
