It is said often in baseball and softball that after batters have faced a pitcher they do better against them next time. Is it harder for pitchers like Danille lawrie to dominate when they face the same 3 teams all the time over an over, all the batters are former national team members or college all-stars, and they face her so many times they have seen all her stuff a zillion times and it is easier to dial in. Power pitchers with good rise ball and off speed would be less efffected by repetition. Is the 4 team league with teams facing the same 3 teams over and over harder on pitchers than if they faced 7 opposing teams half as much? I haven't watched as many games on tv or in person as some others have so I was curious to how pitchers are handling playing all-star league day in and day out with only 3 opposing teams.

I wasn't really talking about the defense in the game earlier, just in general. Wasn't much the defense could do about aggressive hitters and poor pitching. But the defense has been an issue in the past and they already have an error this game.

ETA: Game is now in a weather delay

didn't see that switch.. only sort of watching after the 10th run went up on the board.  tough error for Mendoza in left.. would have liked to see her show off the arm a bit.
is your besty Salling hurt?  not hitting?  why is Lappin playing SS?  JS is a great fielder and it seems having a poor avg. doesn't keep you off the field

I don't know what's up with that . She PR in the game last night so I am assuming she is healthy. I guess they just like Lappin better... Don't really know. Jenn started off the season as the starting SS and did great but she hasn't played in 6 games now other than as a PR and she has entered in just about every game as PR(didn't last game but was never really needed).

What an awesome job by former Auburn Tiger, Angel Bunner, today against the Pride!

Angel's final line: 7IP 6H 2ER 1BB 7SO

Bunner has had some solid starts so far for the Diamonds, who have really turned things around over the past 2 series.

The pulled the tarp to try start play again and the girls were out warming up. Looked like a fight broke out between some of the Diamonds and the Pride. Couldn't really tell what was going on but it sure looked like it. Then it started pouring rain so the delay continues.

ETA: Game postponed until 12:30 tomorrow.

Looks like whatever happened started out between Sandberg and Lever but Mack and Locke were also involved. Can't decide if they were playing or it was serious from their tweets but it looked serious to me! Interesting for sure lol.

Sounds like they were playing. It was certainly interesting to watch lol!

I hope they were playing. Doesn't seem like something Amanda would do.

Based on what I've read from twitter it wasn't serious. Amanda is not the type to be a fighter. I can't really see Mack being a fighter either. I also gathered from twitter that Mack and Locke may have been the "bodyguards" lol. Sounds like some good-natured fun between players.

Yeah that's what it seems but when watching on video with no sound or explanation it wasn't so obvious lol! I didn't think they would do anything like that seriously but you just never know.

4th weather delay of the weekend for the Diamonds and Pride. I don't know if this one is going to get played or not. They've turned the cameras off now(it's been about 45 minutes) but before they did the outfield looked like a lake and it was still pouring. It was so dark it looked like night time! Pride did hold on to win the game that was rained out yesterday and move to today! Diamonds are up early in the 2nd game 2-0. Pauly pitching for the Pride and Burkhart for the Diamonds. Pauly's struggles continue. She gave up several hits, a walk, and was called for 2 illegal pitches and they were just in the top of the 2nd!

ETA: ...and that's the series! Game is cancelled!

I wasn't worked up. I was trying to figure out what was going on. I wasn't lucky enough to be there and was watching on the live stream with a couple of other people and we all thought they were really fighting. The camera was so far way we couldn't tell who it was, let alone their intent. It wasn't until I got on twitter later that I figured out who it was and started putting the pieces together. I know now that they were playing and got a laugh out of it.

NPF finally gets some TV time, on a real softball field no less, and they go into a rain delay after 1 batter. Fastpitch just can't get a break.

Just announced a few minutes ago on ESPN2 that the games are canceled and no winner will be awarded this year.  Bet they wouldn't do this for a men's league.

Really? That is ridiculous. And they wonder why the sport is not taken seriously

The entire Championship Series was epic disaster but what happened tonight is inexcusable! I'm not usually one to bad mouth the NPF but they should be ashamed of themselves! Heartbroken for all of the women who worked so hard for this chance and had taken from them tonight! I can't and won't stand behind the NPF on this!

I have to agree that it is a shame that the playoff can't be completed. The one thing that cannot be controlled is the weather. To carry the playoffs another day would probably cost the League another 30 to 40 thousand dollars. I believe that the league is held together by a shoe string, and that extra cost would be too much to make up.  The other thing is travel for all involved would have to be changed.  I hope all fans can understand the problems the NPF faces. I have nothing to do with the NPF but I understand their decision and the problems they face.  I hope they can hold on a few more years.  The shame of it all is the fact they cannot come up with some major sponsors, so stuff like this will not happen.

10 players from pride and bandits (including Monica Abbott) are headed off to japan today where they make much more money in that league than NPF. Six of those players could not change plans and would miss a game on monday.

They said they did not want to decide a championship based on the 1 game already played nor on 2 games in the rain monday minus at least 6 starters. And it wouldn't be broadcast. ESPN and the few sponsors they have already got the shaft and lost big on this.

NCAA championship game 3 had rain as a factor and absolutey could not do the game the next day nor cancel series with no champion, World championships were not broadcast, Softball was not in olympics, and NPF championship series was cancelled due to rain with no champion for the season. Not a crisp clean year for usa fastpitch softball. .

NPF Softball

The National Pro Fastpitch playoffs ended without a champion on Sunday because of the weather.

Folks, why don't we just face it. The NPF is doing bad enough as it is, but when stuff like this happens, it's no wonder why people aren't interested in it. It's a real shame, and to be honest, it's an insult to all those great players who are really trying. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole league just folds after this year. Let's just hope the college game continues to grow, because that's as good as it's gonna get.

I'd bet 9 out of 10 softball players would be surprised to know there is a professional softball league.

The coach for the Bandits and the girls them self have all said they could have and would have changed their plans give the chance. And if they couldn't the coach has said he could and would have put 9 people on the field anyway. There was alot of confusion about what happened that night and the NPF and Cheri Kempf seem uninterested in clearing any of it up. Leah O'Brien-Amico and one of the coaches for the Bandits even tried to get a game together for Monday without the NPF's help to settle it but couldn't get things organized in time. The excuse the NPF game doesn't hold water. I don't know where the problem came in or what happened but they could have played this game on Monday.
