I find that Mizzou-Tulsa games to be one of the most interesting on Friday

I think that Mizzou can beat Tulsa, but cannot beat Oklahoma
Whereas, obvs, Tulsa can give the Sooners a run for the money, at least once

Interesting note regarding our game vs BU. They threw 3 pitchers and neither is their (now) ace pitcher; Freshman, DuBois who went 28-7 on the season. So do they throw the ace that OU hasn't seen? I bet so.

http://goterriers.com/boxscore.aspx?path=softball&id=9371

For OU: Lopez started the game and gave up 4 hits/2 runs in 1.2 innings or work. Lowary came in and gave up 4 hits/2 runs in 3.1 innings of work. Parker came in for the last 2 innings. While they have seen all 3 of our primary pitchers, they haven't seen them healthy.

This was my favorite portion of the article on Oklahoma:

Asked for her thoughts on the tournament selection committee’s storyline pairings, Gasso smiled and said, “No comment. I don’t ask. I used to get really nervous or tight about who we’re going to get or where we’re going to go. I don’t care anymore. There’s always something behind it, it feels like. Whether there is or not, I don’t know. I just can’t let it bother me or stay on me because it affects them (my players). Ultimately, if you can’t get through what they’re giving you, you probably don’t deserve to be in the (Women’s College) World Series anyway. You deal with what it is, whether or it’s fair or not. Whatever it is, get it done. That’s how I look at it.”

Patty's "No comment" speaks volumes.

Agree. Tulsa has an ace in Emily Watson, but she may have to pitch every inning of the regional for TU to advance. Oklahoma has had several looks at Watson, but it still will be a challenge to beat her. I just wonder if Watson has the inner strength to forget what happened in the regional last year, when her team was up two runs and just three outs away from dismissing the Sooners from the tournament before the extra-innings collapse and the subsequent loss on Monday.

Tulsa has to throw Watson out there against Mizzou. Losing Game 1 makes for a weekend filled with that near-death feeling -- just ask OU.

I like the committee's "clever" idea of matching up BU and the Sooners. Boston surely would have a better chance if OU was looking past them like the Sooners did NDSU last year. I don't think there's a chance of that. A team that was embarrassed in February surely will be focused for the rematch.

The thing that intrigued me most about OU's win over Watson and the Hurricane was this:

TU led 4-2 and needed just three outs to slam the door shut on OU's hopes for a WCWS repeat. Watson had pitched masterfully for nine innings, but Emily and her teammates never recorded another out. It was like a completely different Oklahoma team that came to bat in the 10th. And it was all over in a matter of minutes.

And I think Watson's shell shock was evident, and there was hangover. I think Mendes homered to lead off the B1 in the decisive game on Monday.

Tulsa and NDSU was the best competition we faced outside of Florida in the whole postseason.

Oregon would have only beat Albany 1-0 with the home cooking strike zone given to Sanders.

Nice Graham Hays piece on PP:

http://www.espn.com/espnw/sports/article/23511235/oklahoma-sooners-ace-paige-parker-three-formative-postseason-performances

Bottom line is Parker's mental toughness, built through adversity, starting with the SR four years ago at Alabama. All the greats have the ability to channel or shake off setbacks. Parker doesn't strike people out at the rate of a Barnhill, but she's got an assassins mindset in the circle. Behind the cherubic demeanor, PP is nails when it's crunch time.

I thought the strike zone was generally wide for both pitchers.  One of Elish's Ks in the 1st inning looked like it was on the chalk of the other batter's box.  But Albany's pitcher was getting some wide strikes too - at least, that's how it looked from the TV angle.

The good news is that eventually, we'll all get to see who was right and who was blowing smoke.  Go Ducks!

Now 9-1. Mizzou from the mighty SEC is about to get run-ruled by Tulsa.

Perhaps they should not have even been in the tourney.

Missouri down 9-1 to Tulsa, which just about settles the ongoing argument over whether the SEC's last-place team really needed to be in the tournament.
