I was tasked by the wife with removing armadillos that are digging up the flowerbeds. I set out my game cam and saw 1 opossum and at least 2 dillos between 1 am and 3:30 am. I set my alarm and am sitting on the porch with a 12 gauge with a mounted. light, #4 buck, and a crown and 7. Will post up tallies if anything shows.

Somebody set up a caller, and smoked a couple of the coyote crew.

I think either I and CoachB or oldscout [Terry] had a similar thread in 2011.  He was asking how to rid his yard of them.  That was a drought year so they would get in my yard before I put 3 dogs back there and would dig all night because the grubs were easy to get after I watered that hot drought year, made easy digging for them.  They're deaf and blind which makes them easy, relatively.  One 20 gauge shot to the head, head disappears then they start jumping around headless and those suckers can get 4 or 5 feet high in the air without a head.  Or a well placed .22 to the base of the neck

Would be cool to sit out there and listen to the prairie.

I've heard a few coyotes out here in hickville.  Last time I heard them, the next thing was a howling screaming cat in its death throes.  Hard to listen to actually.

There are a few things that deserve to die on sight:  armadillos, wasps, and fire ants are in the list.

Sure you are packing enough firepower?

Last week driving home from work I called my mom to check in and see how she is doing. I guess between driving a bit over the speed limit, sunglasses and trying to find her in my address book, I was quite surprised to hear a mans voice answer the phone. Instead of MOM, I had dialed my favorite Class III FFL.

In the middle of the conversation he says, "Hold on a minute", and I hear him ask for a box of .50 Beowulf. He gets back on the phone and tells me they lost a dog to coyotes couple days back. He has a guy coming over to call and he intends to thin the heard with that big .50 and a thermal scope, guess he won't worry about skinning them out.

He also has a WWII Half Track with a .50 BMG, but that is another story for another day.

Sounds like he's not planning to get too close to them before he sends them off to Valhalla

13 lb. frog, that should be a 2 lb. frog leg. Frog legs are the best eating and no they don't taste like chicken. They taste like frog legs.

You would have to shoot the 13 pounder, a frog gig wouldn't fit over his neck

I was thinking photoshop also. Caption said it wasn't photoshopped, but he did hold it out towards the camera to accentuate it's dimensions. Still, 13# is hefty.

Ha I was wondering that too. Is it weed from the pond? Tatered-head shot? Hard to say.

Only on video.  We didn't have them in my previous suburban clear-cut cookie cutter neighborhood.

Out here in Hickville, there are plenty.  They don't stay out long though - about 10-15 minutes right at dusk, then they're gone.

I did see a few pair up and get a room.  I wish I was that smooth back in the day.

They're here for about an  hour per night.

Smooth?  Don't be so humble

There are more now than I remember as a kid. Not sure why, but 2-3 years ago they started showing up again bigly.

OK, night safari on again. I am setting up game cams to pattern the Tomcat that is showing up and fighting my home body Tomcat. It doesn't happen all the time, and we have no shielas on site. It just gets old every few weeks to wake up to an all out cat fight, and the dogs can never catch him. My Tomcat is getting bigger, but is still getting torn up. I shot a bad Tom about 10 years ago that was killing young kittens. I dosed him with a goose load. He must have weighed 16-18 lb. All muscle. I will attempt to pattern this kitty, and put a subsonic .22 round in his brain pan.

I've never had an issue putting down a feral Tom, good luck.  I bring my Tom in every night into the garage, for that reason, it protects the wild Tom population, the least I can do

I can't protect him, he's own his own. He's a big boy and can protect his own turf. That said, I could care less about their turf war, if they would only take it off of my turf. Wake me up one too many times, and you are on the hit list.
