NFL Pick-Em Game 2017

Year #5

Pick the Winner of 6 games each week.
--1 point for each correct pick.
--1 bonus point if all 6 picks are correct.

--Running total of points scored for the next 8 weeks...after that the top 2 scorers go to first half championship.
--Week 9 is first half championship.

Championship Rules
--Making it easier this year.
--The top scoring team is home team and gets AFC. The other player is NFC.
--Each player picks the winner of the 5 games in their conference (this way both players are picking different games each and cannot choose the same teams). Monday night game is not included.
There are 5 NFC vs NFc and 5 AFC vs AFC games thurs thru sunday (2 are NFC vs AFC and are not part of the championship).
--If tied the Home team wins. This is the perk for finishing first in regular season.

Second half we do it again.
Week 10 thru week 17 with wild card weekend being the second half championship.
Same Championship rules except each player is picking from the 2 wildcard games in their conference.

Week 19 is the superbowl (Divisional playoff round)
The champion of first half against the champion of the second half (if same person they carry home the trophy). Same Championship rules except the winner is the UCS superbowl champion.

I split this into two halves so players that had a rough go the first 8 weeks of the season can start fresh and have a chance to go to superbowl by winning the second half. Sucks to be out of it by week 10 and stick it out for next 7 weeks so this way it reboots at halfway point with a first half winner andeveryone playing to be second half winner.

Let the games Begin...................................

Pastor jamalbryant, on Periscope is looking to bring down the NFL [which he says has turned into a high tech plantation] of 70% black players with a 83% white audience.  He's really upset that the no talent Colin Kaepernick has no team, must be racial.  He ignored my posts when he said that Kaepernick took the 49ers to the SB, I said the no talent Trent Dilfer won a SB, what does that prove?

Vick had to be the most hated player in the NFL, but because he could still win, the Eagles gave him a shot. If Kaepernick could still play at a level that put points on the board and win, a team would pick him up. I mean hell he was replaced by Gabbert, not a ringing endorsement of his skills.

I am going to be blunt because that is how we roll on UCS.

Kap came into the league as a feel good story. Adopted by white parents, worked for all he got in sports, backup turned starter and led team to superbowl.
He was cleancut, told kids to stay in school and work hard. He talked of his Lutheran faith. And he was on magazines and everywhere as an NFL poster boy.
He was what the league wanted in young black athletes.
[21887c_lg]

[ssjm072649ers006]

[Colin-Kaepernick-VMAN-Cover]

----found pics of the old kap to post here-----

Then he changed. No longer clean-cut. He wore the afto. He wore the castro and x shirts. He supported black lives matter. He wasn't relling kids to stay in school he was telling people
of the racial injustices. He was no longer a feel good story. He was a reverse cinderella. Bt wait....ther's more. He kneeled during national anthem. He got kids in high school to do it.
He got gay women athletes to do it. He got other nfl players to do it. 'Oh hell no" you could hear the far right say. Palin, Rush, Tomi, bolling, o'Reilly, hannity, etc. were all over him.
Ironic since o'reilly got fired for behavior...tomi for pro choice..and bolling for sex misconduct. But how dare that uppity black kneel during anthem.
But wait...there is still more. The 49ers sucked and won once during his time.
[0249ers-web3-master768]

[09-PM]

He had better stats than half the starting QBs in nfl and that was on a crappy team with no line and o running game and a swiss cheese defense.
16 tds and 4 int passing in 10 games. over 400 yards rushing with 2 additional tds. Top 15 QB rating.
The issue is area league backups and retired players and guys with no nfl tds with no nfl si\uccess getting backup jobs before kap.
And it is not about just race. It is a combo of race, perceived disrespect, the right protesting him, and ability. Kap is better than half BUT unlike big ben or others that got in trouble he is not a day in and day out winner.
Vick was a proven winner. He could change teams just being on them. Tebow could not. Kap cannot. So they didnt get jobs.
Remember---tebow didnt get a job either and is in baseball now. Tebow was as clean as they come but no team wanted his distraction since tebow did not have the ability to counter it.
If Kap had tom brady or aaron rogers skills and leadership he would be on a team already. Being better than most is not being top tier. He has to not just be better than most he has to be great to overcome his
change. It isnt just that he is a radical---it is that he flipped from being loved by the right to hated by them. Fox news ran him as feel good., He was embraced,.
He was the good black guy. Then he flipped. People are as mad at the flip as anything else. OJ would get a job faster than kap at this point.

Kap started his protestation after he lost his starting job.  That just looks lame.  To the NFL players that work so hard every day earning their starting position, they are just not going to be that excited about any second string freak show playing out.

Once you fall to second string, you are no longer rated on qb stats.  You are rated more on how good you are at standing on the sidelines and doing everything you can to help your team, and to have yourself ready just in case.  Nothing Kap was doing had anything to do with being a good second string qb.

The one bar is refusing to show cleveland brown games because they knelt as a team...well there are many bars across country not showing NFL games because of this.
The NFL loses in this. Period.
By him not playing his message resonates. Every magor black media, publication, etc. is behind him. It is beynd just him not kneeling.
His jersey is one of top selling. He gets more news than anything else in NFL.
Tebow and he do not have the skilsl to offset their distractions. Yea...Tebow was in same boat.

If NFL owners keep him out......the boycotts continue and the NFL has stated it is taking a financial hit as well as popularity. Worldwide not just in america.
The issue is when they get retired players and those that were aweful instead of him it is obvious.
If NFL team gets him back you will have fans backlash against that team whenever they are on road.
There is no good decision at this point because all people involvedlet it get to this.

Know who said nothing all summer. Kappy. People on all sides talk for him and baout him.
Personally I dont care. Most people i know arent standingfor anthem in their home or even at games. I didnt servefor people to have faux patriotism. You love of country is not from standing. Build yourcommunity , serve, contribute. Be about something not just an echo changer. Kappy not playing makes him a rally point. They would be better off to have him on a team as a backup and sicne he said he wouldnt kneel anymopre it wouldall go away. Otherwise look for more black and white players to kneel

It's the Jaguars, does it really matter where they lose?

Tampa Bay at Miami has been postponed.

Apparently moving it to Tampa wasn't far enough.

Point of order, rules question. Since only a few of us got the Thursday night pick, and we all got it wrong, how will this non pick by us few play out? As percentages are added, we lost ground to those that didn't pick. Will it be to our advantage to no pick a hard pick later in the season in order to potentially let someone else ahead of us by a fraction take a loss?

The game uses points not percentages.
There are no wins and losses ....just 1 point for correct pick and 1 bonus point if all picks correct that week.
Therefore anyone can jump in at any time.
Missing a pick is a missed opportunity but not a loss.
Anyone that did not pick KC for thursday game got 0 points for that game (picked the patriots to win or did not make a pick at all)
If I make 6 incorrect picks I got the same points as someone that did not make any picks that week since I only get points for correct picks.
