In the South Region, Georgia State's Ivie Drake gets first-team catcher over Mississippi State's Mia Davidson.

Drake has a 1.409 OPS against Georgia State's 54 RPI SoS and 24 SBs allowed in 31 attempts with two passed balls. The team's pitchers had a total (including when others caught) of seven WPs. Heckuva number, especially if any of the pitchers do dirt work.

Davidson, with a 1.214 OPS vs. 11 RPI SoS, though with 27 SBs allowed in 37 attempts and five passed balls. The Bulldogs with 22 wild pitches.

I feel like, with SoS tossed in that Davidson has the better offensive numbers. But, defensively, Drake had the noticeably better year

I feel like this was a razon-thin margin that could have gone either way

I was a bit surprised to see no Paige Lowary.

What did you think of D.J. Sanders on the third team in the Pacific Region..?
She was the only Oregon player on that third team.

Why is Oklahoma State in a different region than...
Oklahoma, Tulsa, Baylor, Texas State, Texas Tech, U. of Texas at Arlington, U. of Texas at Austin, etc..?

I was equally surprised to see Craighton on the 3rd team in the west region.

Congratulations to Alissa Dalton... who was the first team SS in her region.

She led Louisiana in BA (.376), SLG (.486), OPS (.901), Hits (68), doubles (11), TB (88) and RBI (30)...
and was second on her team in OBP (.415) and runs (32). She was also the hardest to strike out with just 5 Ks in 194 PA.

Boy... Louisiana was WAY down in their hitting this season.
These are their team stats:  .289 BA,  .356 OBP,  .388 SLG,  .741 OPS.

That .388 SLG% is really down from last year. Dalton's 3 HR was the third best total on the team.
Their HR leader had just 5 HR and second best was 4. They had only 21 HR as a team.

Just barely better than I do if there is no Paige Lowary accounted for.
