Michigan seems to have fallen on hard times, but really it's not as bad as it looks.  Beaubien did not pitch in the final game debacle against Ohio State, and although she was ineffective last night, it was 40 degrees and wet.

Michigan, Minnesota, Texas State, Louisiana, etc.  Who is the most dangerous 2 seed?

At this point, Michigan looks like a possible 3 seed. The most prolific 2 seeds I would say are Kentucky, LBSU, Baylor, Hofstra, and I would say the best #2 seed could possible be Minnesota (They have won 19 of their last 21 games)

Just noticed that Hofstra beat Florida State and lost to Oregon 2-1 in 11 innings.  I had no idea.  Or maybe I forgot.

My money is on Miss State. Good pitching and playing for something bigger than themselves.

Oklahoma states offense can compete with anybody. Forced game 7s last two years. Depends on the day with the pitching though.

The problem with Hofstra, though, is their pitching staff. Some days they are great (like the 2-1 loss against Oregon and the win over FSU) but other days they are horrifying (3 game sweep against JMU where they gave up I think 13 homeruns).

if 2 seeds are comprised of teams "ranked" 17-32 in RPI, and please correct me if I am wrong about that, I don't see how MI falls to a 3 seed.  Did any of the teams below play so well down the stretch to jump Michigan?

Wouldn’t they go to UCLA or Oregon before Washington??
Seems odd to have them go that far when other schools are closer.

It's not uncommon for UW to get a school from Cali. Last year, Michigan, Montana and Fresno State.

The year before it was Minnesota, NDSU and Weber state.

There aren't too many schools within 500 miles that make the tourney or dont host.

Oregon got Long Beach a couple years ago, but yes, this year probably LA because they are a slam-dunk No. 2.

UCLA always seems to get a muni regional, minus the P5 competition that Oregon and Washington get

Hofstra’s pitchers are a freshman and sophomore. They’re going to be inconsistent, unfortunately. The JMU series in the regular season was the worst 3-game stretch the team had all year. What was encouraging was them beating them twice 2 weeks later to win the conference championship. Also realize in that 3 game sweep, Hofstra was never out of a game, both teams had pretty strong offenses in that game. I would hope Hofstra will play more like they did against FSU and Oregon in the postseason.

Missouri had a 23 RPI after last week, and didn't play.
Not going to drop them 10 slots, even as they shuffle crap for busing

It is within 400 miles, so none within that distance from Seattle. Boise State is 495 miles away. We could also get Sacramento State, which is 752 miles away (closer than BYU, at 874 miles), but also closer to Eugene. #2 could be Minnesota (#28) or Michigan (#30).

Missouri is no 2......if at all.[/QUOT

Please. The question was not "Do some people have a bunch of faux outrange over Missouri's administration buying out 2 games at the end of the season to ensure their deserving players make the NCAA. Their very brutal, #3 ranked schedule included 3 games each against the teams below.

Florida
Tennesee
So Crolina
Georgia
LSU
Miss St
Auburn
Arkansas

Plus they played non-conf games ve Oreg, UCLA, Arizona, Oreg St, 2 vs Okla St, 2 vs USF. Too bad they didn't play a Big Ten or ACC or a mid-major schedule. They'd be 40-15 and this would be moot. Or better yet, too bad these teams whose fans are bichin and moaning about this don't gave to play 24 games against top 10 SEC teams. gainst don't have to play Murller
Regardless, that was not the question. The question was about the scariest 2 seeds. Missouri will most definitely be a 2 seed. And in my opinion, a scary one.

You can take the Cajuns out of that mix. They are no threat to win a regional.

You got that right, Lcitsh. Insert Texas State instead.

I wouldn't want to be TAMU with Baylor coming in.   That's 50/50 for a Baylor win.

Now that the brackets are out, we can see they have even less chance than the Cajuns.

Where's the typical Cajuns' feisty attitude? In a regional against LSU of all teams. Next, ya'll will be letting people get away with saying ULL.

Feel kind of bad for Baylor they get put in a very winnable regional but when they beat A@M they get to face the Gators.....and they don’t have a prayer vs them.

I think Florida is playing their best ball all season BUT Kelsey Oh shut then down in the final of the sec tournament it took the sec POY to beat her. It'll be interesting because Baylor also upset a team in Arizona that people ( myself included) had a shot at making it to okc.

Teams that I wouldn't want to see in my regional:  Texas State and Baylor.  Baylor did take out Az last year in a Super.  Texas State has a pitcher who shut out both Baylor and A&M last year.  She can shut a team down on occasion.  Both Baylor and  Texas State depend on how well a given pitcher does.  Each has one good one.

No doubt, Terrell. Texas State got royally screwed having to go out west and try to beat the #3 seed who to me could have just as well been the #1 seed, that's how close the top 4 are to me.

It's still in us, Smileyface, but most Cajun fans know with all the changes and transfers , turmoil in the offseason this was a rebuilding year for the program. And quite honestly, we had a better season than I would have thought and probably 98% of Cajun fans would have thought. We had the team last year to get it done, but this year, unless we get some help from above, I just don't see us making any noise on the field, but our fans will be there in droves and will be pushing our young and inexperienced team till the end, hopefully to the final game, but could well go two and out. But the future looks bright, and the Cajuns will be back sooner than later in my opinion.

I haven't watched too many of yall's games but one was a win over Florida. Home run numbers be damned, I'm expecting the whole kitchen sink from the Cajuns in this regional like all the other times.

I can’t agree more. I would have liked to see a more interesting match up with Tx A&M or Baylor.;
