Monica Abbott threw a no hitter vs. the Chicago Bandits last night. The Bandits were only able to put three batted balls into play during the game. May managed a pop up to SS in the third inning - and a fly out to CF in the fifth inning... and Moss had a ground out to SS in the sixth inning. Abbott struck out 18 batters - out of the possible 21 outs (86%).

So I guess one could say that Stacy May was the batting star of the night for the Bandits. She was the only starter who did not K vs. Abbott - as she put the ball into play in both of her at bats... while the entire rest of the Bandits team only managed to put one other ball into play for the entire night.

The best Bandit batter vs. pitcher battle for the game was probably the lead off batter of the game - when Moss walked after fouling off a couple of pitches with a 3-2 count. The only other base runner that Monica allowed - was when she hit Carosone with a pitch in the 4th inning.

Abbott came into the 7th inning needing three more outs to get the no hitter - and she was facing the heart of the Bandit batting order (Carosone, Jaquish & Hernandez). She sent all three of them back to their dugout with another K on their score card, 1-2-3... and the game was over.

Seven of the starters struck out at least two times - and two of them struck out 3 times (Jaquish & Hernandez).

Monica struck out at least two batters in every inning - and had three Ks in FOUR innings.

1st - 3
2nd - 3
3rd - 2
4th - 3
5th - 2
6th - 2
7th - 3

Abbott now has a W-L record of 15-2 with 193 Ks in 101 IP (13.38 K/7).

I bet every single one of her pitches was thrown after she came off the rubber and replanted then threw.

I haven't seen her throw in a while but if she does replant. does that mean she throws from a final distance of 25' feet?

The best thing about MA is that she did not win a NCAA WS ring

She doesn't have both feet in contact with the rubber, but I don't see a hop or replant

Yes I believe it does put her closer to the batter.

I guess you found one pitch where it is not as profound as the others. SHe is not nearly as effective when she gets called for it.

I thought the NPF got rid of the "leaping" portion and only called replant/hopping.

There was one game she was called for it 6 times in the first inning. She was eventually taken out of that game because when she has to pitch legally she gets hit.

The NPF eliminated the "advance the runner" part of the illegal pitch.

And why is that the best thing about Monica Abbott?

Ah, so if Osterman can't have a ring, Abbott shouldn't have one either.  Got it.
