50/50. Big project at work and it would be a tough time to get away.

It's easy to root for Minn now, but Bama looks to be coming out of its offensive slumber lately...and usually rises to the challenge when its back is against the wall.  I think Bama will be a tough out, especially at home.

Lots of whining going on. I didn't see UW whine in 2009 when they finished as the overall #1, but couldn't host because they didn't have lights in their stadium. So what did they do? They went out and won the friggen national championship.

LOL. Actually we were pretty pissed that we got sent to the far corners of the country.

But it produced my favorite non-WCWS/non-Bama game of all-time.

Looks like a nice warm up for Minnesota (currently leading 11-1 in the 4th inning).

Balschmiter.

Not sure that Plourde was on the team that year as both Lawrie and Balschmiter pitched all 22 innnings that day.

What a great name.

Got to watch Plourde and their coach (who tragically passed away) at FIU in Miami with my daughter. First college game she ever saw

Yep.  Very few times have I wished for a game to continue, but that was two of the greatest going toe-to-toe.  I always wonder if BB had been in a different regional what would've happened.

I think UW and Lawrie had a pretty solid game the following year against UNC with Danielle Spaulding on the mound.  Am I wrong?

Great memory you have. We beat them in the regionals 1-0 and 2-1 in 8.

Foreshadowing a lack of run production that carried over into the WCWS.

There are just certain games that leave an impression.  And Spaulding was a GREAT for UNC.  Plus I remember thinking, well dang, they had Brandice in 2009 and Spaulding in 2010.

Lawrie beat a Soph K Rickets in the supers and fell to E Arevalo and K Fowler in the WCWS.

Compile them all and you have some great names in pitching!
