Corbello had some major issues with control, unfortunately she could never fix that at LSU. If I am not mistaken, Czechner was suspended so we only pitched Corbello in the regionals with Kelsee Selman.

So.... is that some sort of disagreement?

I did have to laugh when we played a team with TX recruits on it and he said he didn’t know any of the players. Hope they have a good week

As a coach, we will learn a LOT in 2019. Her report card to me is incomplete. She has gotten very talented pitching staffs where very talented pitching staffs should go, with her handful of OKC trips.

But, the one year she didn't have a horse, LSU was purely woodwork, not even reaching supers.

After Jaquish and Walljasper, what is her recruitment Mount Rushmore?

I guess that is fair

I agree she has been fortunate with pitchers but I do know she is a very good pitching coach and gets the most out of them.

LSU has some highly recruited players but some aren't producing probably as much as they could be, which comes back to development of position players at LSU.

There is clear development on the mound, the pitchers get better every year. The hitters and hitting philosophy has been the weak point for this program which hasn't seemed to be addressed yet...

Its probably a combination of recruitment and preparation, not all of these kids are hopeless. Some are very very talented

Lefty what would impress you  from LSU next year?

No disagreement from me, Corbello wasn't even her recruit either to be fair

We will see how this new group does

Shelby Wickersham and Ali Kilponen

Kilponen is a good little pitcher and has had success at all levels

A little skeptical on Wickersham but she is talented

Pitching staff: Gorsuch, Sunseri, Kilponen, and Wickersham

Its a talented group but a lot of inexperience

Getting back to OKC would be impressive

To be sure, there is NO excuse for any coach making the bank Beth is to ever not reach Supers, so that would be an acceptable season

Not to mention, Selman took Baylor to the wcws AT Az after she left LSU.

Agreed

I just think her program would soar more if we could address the hitting but thats beating a dead horse, we say this every year.

I do  enjoy that ones of her best attributes is to get her teams to play their best when it counts. We were a play away in game two of Supers from going back to OKC again

I hope they have an answer for the hitting this season to help out the younger pitchers as they get their feet wet to this level

I was sad to see her leave LSU but I guess it made sense with Hoover and Walljasper already their that her time on the mound would be less

She went to Baylor to play more, but whats weird was she saw less innings her junior year there than at LSU. She pitched as a regular as a senior and was phenomenal. She was a fun player to watch

She literally had to do a heavy coaching lift like she will have to in 2019 ONCE in 7 seasons -- 2014.

In 2012 and 2013, she had Fico and Mack. From 2015-18, she had Hoover and Walljasper. ALL, pure blue chippers.

In that 2014 season, with Corbello carrying the water? LSU lost in regionals at Arizona, allowing 32 ER in 31 IP (7.23 ERA)

She has been VERRRRY lucky with the pitching talent, one of the kids having even been a recruit of hers.

Almost as lucky as she was in getting that job in the first place, after going 129-111 at FIU win zero conference titles.

Corbello had tremendous potential. Idk what happened with her

Addendum: The white outfits with just the Longhorn logo in burnt orange look pretty good.

Corbello would walk every other batter, she didn't have control. She has great stuff but could never find any control in her pitching her entire college career. She was McNeese's 3rd pitcher when she transferred over

Here is an article on Sahvanna Jaquish that some of you LSU fans might find interesting:

She is a special kid, I hope she makes it

Dobson did a wonderful job molding her into the hitter she is today from her LSU days. IMO best hitter in program history

I hope there is another Jaquish coming to LSU soon

Jaquish is a special player, her pitch selection was always outstanding. Saw she hit a 3 run home run yesterday for team USA. Hoping she makes that Olympic team when it comes time. I think the best attribute about her outside of her hitting is just her versatility, you could literally put her at 3B, 1B, C, SS, 2B, just anywhere on the infield and it will be played well, she's just that great of an athlete.

As for another Jaquish coming in.... I am not sure if you could ever replace someone like her but Ciara Briggs and Taylor Pleasants (2019 kids) are the real deal. Ciara was a big time pick up for coach Torina out in Cali, probably one of the best if not best outfielder in that 2019 class IMO. Pleasants is a very talented kid, big frame with plus power, has a pretty good eye for the ball and just a smart kid all around. She is doing well out in Japan right now for Scrapyard International, she was pretty highly recruited as well.

With that said success in travel ball and HS means zilch once you get to college, some kids adjust quickly while others struggle mightily

The last time LSU had big time freshmen performances were when Landry and Jaquish were freshmen (2014)

No clue, would assume the players?

Supposedly they are doing scrimmages and training there for a short period but the trip ended yesterday I think

LOL

Yea its pricy but I guess if you have the money to spare, why not

Probably was a great opportunity for the kids, get to experience another culture and see things you haven't seen before. Receiving coaching from some of the top coaches over there, so I'm sure their coaches and the players can pick up on stuff. Also get to scrimmage against talented players as well.

From what is sounds like it was a good experience for everyone
