This years team will be interesting. Pitching will continue to be a major asset for this team. Offensively we lose Landry and Jaquish, two of the best hitters in LSU history. This years team position players is pretty young. A lot of question marks offensively. Can this team be a better hitting team? According to those close to the team the staff has taken a different approach to handling the offense. LSU needs to improve offensively for sure. The talent is there but we still haven't seen them play to their capabilities

Predictions

Starting Lineup

1. griggs- CF
2. Andrews- LF
3. Doyle 1B
4. Scultes 2B
5. Springfield-DP
6. Sanchez- 3B
7. Serrett- SS
8. Caccamise- Catcher
9. Antoine- RF

Torina says she expects all the freshman to be contributors. Does anyone know how the new players have looked this fall?

LSU is a wildcard as the pitchers can carry them to OKC but not sure how far they will travel due to question marks on offense. The schedule looks nice.

Who will comeout and be the #3 pitcher? Will it be Maribeth or Sunseri?

LSU needs to develop them for the future

If anyone has seen the team this fall, would love to hear how they look.

LSU looks like they will finish about 4-6 in the SEC

Has anybody seen Sunseri pitch?

Offense is a major concern for this team. If Doyle is your 3 hitter, you have a problem.

Not the coaches either - three straight World Series appearances isn’t too shabby.

Just showing your utter lack of knowledge of the landscape of college softball.

It’s embarassing

I heard Beth wants to utilize Sunseri a lot at the plate. Apparently she looks good at the plate so far this fall

I will say this..... LSU essentially played without Jaquish all last season since she was pitched around and walked every time.

Also wasn't Doyle one of the best hitters in the country coming out of hs? Maybe she will turn the corner.

Springfield needs to cut the strikeouts.

Word on the street is Sanchez looks fantastic this fall. Apparently she is healthy as ever. She went throuh a lot last year with all her treatments. She had a couple hits vs Baylor like a week back.

LSU played Chipola yesterday, not sure how LSU did

If there is a kid .... ever... with 2 HRs in 150 ABs who hit one farther than Sanchez did in OKC, I've never seen her

Judging from the various posts being made by all of the LSU fans on Tiger Droppings, they really haven't been paying too much attention to softball this fall.  They have been too busy celebrating all of the 8th grade commits that Beth has been receiving lately.  It will be interesting to see how many of these commits will be suiting up for the Tigers 5 years from now.

You have enough to worry about in your part of Louisiana than to be concerned with LSU

My predicted lineup is:
1.) Griggs CF2.) Andrews LF3.) Doyle 1B4.) Springfield DH5.) Schulte 2B6.) Schlattman C 7.)Sanchez 3B8.) Serret SS9.) Antoine RF
LSU offense struggled in general last year outside Jaquish and Landry. However, I think they will bounce back this year. Doyle and Springfield were Freshmen last year, Doyle lacked confused and Springfield striked our too much. This year I think they both will be better because they know how college softball is now. Springfield hit awfully and striked our so much, but still hit 10 homeruns, if she can hit better she’ll be fine. Serret had a Sophmore slump, it happens. I think she’ll bounce back mostly because she can hit lower in the lineup where she has less pressure on her because last year she sometimes had to hit in the 5 or 6 hole because LSU struggled with hitting. Sanchez will be fine because last year she had to learn a whole new position while struggling with her chemo and everything. And we all know the pitching will be there. Hoover and Walljasper are Seniors this year and they want to go out with a bang this year. Hoover will be healthy this year and Walljasper will be as good as always.

<< I will say this..... LSU essentially played without Jaquish all last season since she was pitched around and walked every time. >> (Grindz)

That just might qualify for the greatest overstatement of the year (she was pitched around and walked every time).

Jaquish was walked 18 more times in the 2017 season - than the 2016 season (62 to 44).
She had 23 less at bats in the 2017 season (178 to 201).

Only two LSU players had more at bats than Jaquish last season.
Only two LSU players had more hits than Jaquish last season.

She led her team in doubles, RBI, OB%, Slg% and OPS.
She was second in HR and TB.

Seems to me that the team got a ton out of her...
Those 18 additional walks - did not keep Jaquish from contributing enormously to the LSU offense.

I recall her bein very successful prior to LSU and has done it internationally with Puerto Rico. Apparently she has always had power

Poster on TD said LSU beat Belhaven 6-2

Maribeth pitched

Don't know Chipola score.

And apparently Torina picked up another pitcher to pair with Wickersham in the 2018 class.

I'm nervous/concerned about if Sunseri or Maribeth can keep the pitching at a high level

Sunseri is a Freshman & Gorsuch only went 28 innings all last year averaging better than a hit an inning & alot of earned runs. Both just need innings I expect before anyone could expect them to pitch near the level of Walljaspar & Hoover. If just one of them could prove able to provide mop up duty and/or just eat up innings, LSU should be fine.

Certainly the key is Hoover being healthy all Spring. If so, her & Walljaspar can control the mound pretty good.  Stating the obvious of course

I was referring to the future after hoover and Walljasper leave. I know it sounds silly to already to worry about next season before this one starts. I was just sayin we really need to make sure one of them truly develops this season.

LSU will very young in the circle. We add Wickersham and Kilponen. From I hear both are top notch players. Kilponen was recruited hard by Baylor and Washinton as well

I still haven't heard much about Sunseri this fall in the circle but apparently she is makin an impression at the plate.

hopefully we see more extra base hits this year from this team. we lacked a lot of that last season.

I am a big LSU Softball fan, I am extremely dissapointed with how the program is run now. I want LSU to get back to an elite level and content for national titles, we won't as long as Beth has these horrible assistant coaches who can't teach defense or offense.

Beth is an average coach who lucked out on some good pitchers. She can't develop players or recruit at a high level. Its going to be seen in the next few seasons, you will see this program tank if nothing major is done. Landry and Jaquish are gone so LSU is in for a rude awakening next season.

LSU Softball now is somewhat embarrassing, we keep playing players who wouldn't even start on even the worst teams in the conference. Sanchez and Quinn should not have scholarships in the first place. Both are horrible hitters and their defense is inconsistently wild and bad

Its pretty apparent to anyone who watches and follows the program closely that certain players get to play as bad as they want and still be given the job. Thats why LSU has so many transfers every year, none of the players respect Torina. She plays favorites and basically gives the middle finger to the rest of the team. Four players reported Torina to the Athletic Department last October because of how she belittles players and degrades them beyond the game of softball.

You obviously doesn't know much about softball. My guess is you never made the team or coached a game in your life. Your post is pointless and inaccurate.
