Now back to the game, thought it was a hard fought battle between two very good programs, but BAYLOR definitely was the better team. The lead off home run put the Cajuns on there heels and just never could get over the hump. Nice comeback by the Cajuns, with the two homeruns by Aleah and DJ, in the 6th, but when Baylor answered in the 7th, pretty much sealed it. I thought the Cajuns did well at the plate, as several balls were hit solid, but right at Baylor players for outs. Pitching wise, Alex seems to be struggling, hopefully not hurt. Thought Denham pitched well until the 7th when Baylor put the game away on that two run homer.  Congrats to Baylor on coming in to Lamson field and beating the Cajuns.

I still just don't understand how using ULL as the abbreviation is wrong when really it's the exact abbreviation... Just as TAMU= Texas A&M University or UCLA= University of California, Los Angeles or UTSA= University of Texas at San Antionio. It's common nature to take a university's official name and abbreviate it. When I google ULL the first link to pop up is the University of Louisiana- Lafayette. I think most people tend to refer to the school as ULL just because that's what the exact abbreviation is. Even the school's official website abbreviates it as UL-Lafayette.

I usually don't care what message board individual call us, but it does bother me what media entities call us. Typically, they respect schools branding requests. In the case of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the universities website (louisiana.edu) has a description of official requested academic and athletic branding.

https://www.louisiana.edu/about-us/media/proper-use-universitys-name

Proper Use of the University's Name

University of Louisiana at Lafayette® has been the formal and official name of the University since 1999. Please use it in first reference to the University in text. UL Lafayette may be used as an abbreviation to refer to the academic institution when clarification is necessary.

Name: University of Louisiana at Lafayette®
Academic Abbreviation: UL Lafayette
Athletics Nickname: Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns®
Athletics Shortened Names: Louisiana, Ragin' Cajuns, and Cajuns
Athletics Abbreviation: LA (for score/stats listings only)

Athletics Nickname

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns® is the nickname of the University’s athletic teams. Teams also may be referred to as Louisiana, Ragin' Cajuns, or Cajuns. In most cases, Ragin’ Cajuns plural is proper, though Ragin’ Cajun in the singular form can apply.

Well, if I ever enroll at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and don't hold your breath on that, then I will check that out...But in the meantime I will use what I want to use....Sounds like this guy, Mr. L, oh did I use the right abbreviation?,  has about 5-6 people that he preaches to in Louisiana...In his little pond... And now he thinks he can tell the rest of the world how to live...Don't think so....What a joke....

I don't get upset anymore.... I still think of them at USL... lol.

Seriously what would happen if ULM got stupid and went back to NLU? By the law, wouldn't you have to go back to USL? I just chuckle at all of this anymore...

BTW, I still call Texas State, Southwest Texas State; A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&I; etc.... ha ha

It makes no sense that when speaking of athletics we are expected to call them by a different name and abbreviation than when speaking of academics. Maybe I'm just not in the know, but does any other university deem it necessary to issue a users manual for speaking and writing their name???

Interestingly, at the bottom of the school's athletics website, there is a logo for the University of Louisiana Lafayette and a copyright for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

And there's a link to an NCAA infraction report, and in that a link the committee's full report -- which refers to the school in this way: "University of Louisiana at Lafayette (Louisiana-Lafayette)."

So the NCAA apparenlty isn't on board with the "branding," nor is the school since there's no reference at the bottom to just "Louisiana" or "the University of Louisiana" without the Layayette.

And I don't care to get in the mud on this one unless there's crawfish to be found and cooked, so I'll show myself out.

Once again for the four of you that posted after ZTE, scroll up to Cajun Amos post and read the official stance that the university has taken. I to went to USL, way back in the 70's, but times are a changing for the better and I like the new branding effort by the university, ULM wants to be known just that, so kudos to them, us on the other hand, LOUISIANA, IT IS WHAT IT IS.

I was just making humor... but I don't care what the official university and conference status is. I go by what state law says...

Honestly I don't care what you all call yourselves anyone. I'm over getting angry about it, but I do enjoy poking a little fun at the issue and enjoying humor from time to time. Heck, go ahead and call yourselves the New England Patriots!! Lol

Who pulled your snout, we were their also a few years ago to, and I did not see LSU there, so that is that I guess. I did not see you either when I was there in 2003, maybe you could not make it, kinda like the Cajuns last year. But maybe, just maybe they were there because they did not have to go thru us. [biggrin]

Oh, I'm not butthurt at all by the results of my alma mater vs ULL in the 2 sports that I have season tickets for.

Softball... LSU leads overall series 12-8 and has been to the WCWS 3 out of the last 5 years. I don't recall seeing anyone from Lafayette there during this time period.

Football... LSU leads series 22-0 with the overall score total of 1038-25.

The only thing that I get butthurt over is having to drive through Lafghanistan on Interstate 10 on my way to Baton Rouge...

Geaux SLI Bulldogs!!

Lol... still enjoying the humor. Life is too stressful to be bitter... have fun, be happy.

Plan on going back for sure, missed the last two times the Cajuns were there. Went in 2003, even thou we went 2 and out, it was one hell of an experience for my daughter and our family. Since then I have made almost all the regionals and some of the super regionals that the Cajuns have played in.
