Run Rule

This forum has done a 180 in my 10 years here.  UCLA softball ruled this forum in 2007

In 2007 I remember all the talk of arizona and ASU since they won 2006 thru 2008 and washington in 2009 then ucla in 2010 Tennessee, A&M of Big12 and florida were contenders that lost in championships along with other Pac10 teams. Michigan and Ou had disappeared from champiobnship after winning it in early 2000s (bOU would win twice again including last year).

it isnt just softball.
Look at NBA...cleveland and golden state are cruising into NBA finals undefeated and for 3rd time in a row. Never before with same 2 teams meeting 3 times in a row in championship in NBA.
Baseball we had cubs vs the indians last year. No yankees, redsox, dodgers, giants, cardinals or detroit.
Hockey we have Nashville vs anaheim with winner to play penguins. Boston didnt make playoffs and red wings missed playofs for first time in 26 years.

NFL we have pitsburg, patriots, etc still ruling the AFC but nfc had atlanta falcons and year before caolina panthers. New kids on block...both lost superbowl.

Times have changed and will change again my friend. And it is a good thing. (except ou losing)

I should probably know the answer to this question but let me ask.  If Fullerton pulled an upset by defeating UCLA twice on Sunday, who would host Supers assuming...

a)  Ole Miss wins their Regional, or
b)  NC wins the Oxford Regional?

a) Ole Miss
b) Fullerton, unless their facility doesn't meet requirements to host and UNC does

UNC hosted a few times MANY years ago; I would think Fullerton's stadium is much larger, but do not think either team will pull off winning their regional. Don't get me wrong, I love the underdog (was pulling hard for mid-major, USC Upstate yesterday-HEARTBREAKER). Hell, what do I know I just heard of this board so joined a few days ago.  I do know I will probably consume too many beers and carb today watching softball all day......AGAIN.

Yes, Fullerton is an underdog to say the least.  Just the same, I use to think the winner of the #5 Regional would host Supers versus the winner of the #12 Regional, regardless who the participants ended up being.  Looks like there must be another formula used which would explain who hosts when the top seed loses.  I'll try to look it up.

UCLA had a 49 RPI for the second-best team in its regional (Fullerton) and then was bracketed to play the 18 in Ole Miss

Can't imagine any team, barring an upset in the regional round, has ever had such an easy RPI path to OKC

I had to do a freaking double-take on this one:

Ole Miss has struck out 323 times, while hitting only 32 HRs.

10.09 Ks/HR

The next highest number among the Sweet 16--two zip codes back of the Rebels--is LSU with 6.09 K/HR

Truly a fun game.  i had all these plans but got nothing accomplished because i could not walk away.  Two scrappy big heart teams.  I hate UCLA but I must admit it was nice to have them shut up the SEC representative.  Nothing personal to Ole Miss.  Just a Pac 12 fan.
