Los Angeles, Calif. --
For the second time in two weeks, the Lions have received PCSC Player of the Week honors. This week, the PCSC named right handed pitcher Molly Medeiros, Coastal Division Pitcher of the Week, while shortstop Sam Fischer remained Coastal Division Player of the Week for a second week in a row. Both players were key factors in the Lions 3 wins over Utah Valley this past weekend.
The reigning PCSC Pitcher of the Year, Molly Medeiros (Saratoga, Calif.) looked solid in the circle as she pitched two complete games this weekend against Utah Valley. Medeiros, who has been doing a majority of the pitching due to injuries, did not show any sign of fatigue, as she struck out six batters in each of her appearances this weekend. Overall, Molly sports a 5-1 record making eight appearances in the first ten games of the season, starting five. With an ERA of 1.74 (40.1 IP 10 ER) on the season thus far, Medeiros is a huge asset to the Lions 7-3 record. This is Medeiros’ first Pitcher of the Week honor for the season. Last year she earned the honor four times.
Senior shortstop Sam Fischer earns her second consecutive PCSC Player of the Week honor this week, her sixth all time. Fischer had a memorable week, hitting .615 (8x13) with three home runs, one of which gave her the LMU career home run record (48). Recording three doubles and driving in seven RBIs, Fischer recorded a hit in all four games against Utah Valley this past weekend
The Lions head east to Florida for a two week road trip starting Friday, February 24th as they head to Boca Raton for the Hilton Suites “Strike Out Cancer” Tournament and then head to Clearwater for the USF Under Armor Invitational.
