Softball Announces 2012 Schedule
Four tournaments, including two in Florida, and four 2011 NCAA Tournament qualifying opponents headline the 2012 LMU softball schedule.

LOS ANGELES - Four tournaments, including two in Florida, and four 2011 NCAA Tournament qualifying opponents headline the 2012 LMU softball schedule, released Wednesday by head coach Gary Ferrin.
LMU, the reigning Pacific Coast Softball Conference Coastal Division Champion, begins 2012 play at the UC Davis Tournament on Feb. 10-12 where it will face the host Aggies, Boise State and Nevada.
Following a brief homestand featuring a single game against perennial power UCLA and four games with Utah Valley, the Lions head to the Sunshine State for a total of 12 games between Feb. 24 and March 4. They will take part in the Hilton Suites "Strike Out Cancer" Tournament from Feb. 24-26 in Boca Raton, Fla., and the USF Under Armour Invitational from March 2-4 in Clearwater, Fla. Sandwiched between the two tournaments is a double-header with Bethune-Cookman.
Opponents in the two tournaments include 2011 NCAA qualifiers Tulsa and Harvard, along with Florida International, Michigan State, Florida A&M, Auburn, Miami (Ohio), Central Michigan, South Florida and Boston College.
The Lions wrap up tournament action on March 9-11, returning to California to take part in the Amy S. Harrison Classic, hosted by UC Riverside. Also competing will be Saint Joseph's, Quinnipiac and St. John's.
Beginning March 12, LMU is back on the friendly confines of Smith Field for a 14-game homestand, hosting non-conference opponents Utah State (March 12), Notre Dame (March 13), Iowa State (March 14), Seattle (March 17-18), Long Beach State (March 21) and Cal State Northridge (March 24).
In PCSC play, the Lions host Santa Clara (March 31-Apr. 1) and Sacramento State (Apr. 14-15) while traveling to Cal State Bakersfield (Apr. 7-8), San Diego (Apr. 21-22) and Saint Mary's (Apr. 28-29).
The PCSC Championship Series between the winners of the Coastal and Mountain Divisions, will take place May 11-12 and determine the league's NCAA Tournament automatic qualifier.
