Weather could be a factor.  Scattered storms forecasted starting tomorrow thru Sunday.  Grounds crew is top notch and will certainly go above and beyond the call to take care of the field, but the weather here is so unpredictable.

Anyone know the lightning rule for softball?  At what distance away for a strike do the yank the players off the field?

Ohio State has completely imploded in the top of the 7th vs USC Upstate. 3 errors, a passed ball and a bunch of bad decisions - they've given up 5 runs so far....

Never count on someone from Columbus doing anything right.

And the game ends on a Buckeye base runner leaving early.

Is there a new rule in softball where if the fielder drops the ball, the runner is safe even if they never got anywhere near the plate?

Never seen a run scored 3 feet from home plate, continued tradition of embarrassing NCAA umpires for regionals. How can you be this incompetent?

they said she was called out because of the push...? didn't know you couldn't physically push a runner when you tag her out.

You can't knock a baserunner to the ground before she reaches base. Not a difficult call.

Really? Even when you're tagging the runner out...with the ball? Alot coaches teach defensive players to make aggressive tags. Didn't know that was a rule.

you can definitely apply the tag as in every other ncaa game, there was nothing unusual. Blown call as Karen said there was no explanation for the safe call.

Now the announcers are defending the umpire, I cannot watch this game any longer

Announcers said the reason for the Safe Call was because of the push. Meaning even if she didn't touch the plate, which she didn't, she would be safe. I guess the umps didn't explain that to Weekly.

You need to have the ball to tag the runner out.

she had the ball on the tagout, then lost it. then pitcher picked ball up and tagged runner out. so if you CAN push runner to ground, on purpose or not, how was she safe if she never touched home plate.

Why is every host the home team in this game, except -- seemingly -- Tennessee?

Now, we had a raft of BS no-hitters yesterday...

If this USCU kid gets three more hitless outs... now THAT would be a no-hitter

Upstate is the 3 seed right? I think that if the 3 upsets the 2 then they get to be home since they weren't the first game. Whereas the other regionals the 1 is home cause the 2 was the home team in their first game.

It has nothing to do with seeding after Game 1.  If 1 & 2 play in Game 2, it is either coin flip or #1 seed is home (I don't know the actual rule on that one).  If 1 & 3 play Game 2, since #3 has not had a chance to be home team yet, they are then designated the home team.  It is all kinda dumb if you ask me.  If you earn a right to be a better seed, you should earn the right to be the home team.

Some idiot ESPN announcer (Lisa Byington) just called Tenn with a walkoff HR win in the Top 7th.  ESPN needs more layoffs.  Clueless announcer.

Upstate's relief pitcher has given up 7 runs so far in the 7th.  UT was being no-hit and shutout.   CHOKE

With 2 outs in the 6th, the starter walked 3 straight batters.  Coach thought she had lost it.

Aubrey Leach--a great leadoff hitter but certainly not known for her power--hits a three-run homer, then Gregg with another
homer to follow her moon shot of last night. The Vols were flat and looked finished and rallied for 7 in the 7th.

The safe call at home in the first was absurd. This is the playoffs--you can't screw up calls that badly.

It's always nice when justice prevails in the end. In this case with a figurative sledge hammer, lol.

Longwood is the only #4 seed to make it to the Regional Finals. North Dakota State is still playing, but is down 5-0 to Oklahoma in an elimination game.

Tennessee is up 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 4th. Longwood RF threw a bullet to home to get UT Runner out holding the deficit at just 1 in the 3rd. Tenn had runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top 4th but struck out. Longwood hanging around.
