Lots of committed players and some high finishes in big tourney's.  University of Central Florida might want to take a pass on this clown's daughter.

I was wondering how a girl who is in the class of 2019 was under sixteen.  Almost all of the Storm are in the class of 2019, wouldn't that make them at least 17 going into their senior years of high school?

This is the second time this summer this has happened at a major tournament. Georgia Impact 16’s did the same thing (forget which tourney). The part i can’t fathom is why rising seniors and above who are committed to major programs are trophy hunting amongst 14-16 year olds instead of finding the best competition possible amongst the kids they’ll be playing with and against next year?!?! The coaches are yahoos. But the players and parents on board with this are making the biggest mistake in this situation.

I agree.  Never understood why kids don't move up once they commit.  Mine never played an inning of 16's.

If a girl is listed in the 2019 class, shouldn't it go without saying she is not 16?

The funny thing about TCS banning the 18U players from any other TCS tourneys is that TCS does not allow age-eligible players who are in college to play TCS tourneys anyway.  I don't really understand it - if they are eligible, what's the big deal?  They were policing it pretty hard last summer in Myrtle Beach, of all places.  So those kids effectively can't play any TCS tourneys once they step on a college campus, ban or no.

You mean, kids coming off their junior year of HS?

My daughter was 16 on Jan. 1 of her junior year in HS.

Am I missing something here?

My mistake.  The link was to the 2017 team and not the current bunch of cheaters.

Not necessarily. There are a few rising seniors who are still 16u eligible. It could go without saying that if you’re a committed 2019, you SHOULDN’T be playing 16’s because trophy hunting amongst 14-15 year olds shouldn’t be your priority when you’ve got one year left until you’re facing 21 year olds.
But that’s how TJ’s Mustangs went and won ASA and PGF nationals. They picked up two rising seniors who were still age eligible and went and played 16’s. But i guess at least they WERE age eligible. That is not the case here. It was also not the case with Georgia Impact at Scenic City 16’s last month.

What are the eligibility rules?  Cannot turn 17 past a certain date?

Can Scotty Lowry confirm or deny this cheating allegation?  Goes to the character of these people, he's always been a shady character IMO

The FB posts after they were "cheated" at the IDT tourney are classic.

"Jacksonville Storm Davis went 7-1 in Colorado’s IDT (Invitational Only) playing the best teams in the nation and beating the #1 team in the country. The only lost comes in the last inning with a ball that bounces OVER the fence and the umpire calls it a home run! Up 2-1 in the last inning, this is 100% of the time called a Ground Rule Double! Today it’s a HR! It’s unfortunate after beating St. Louis Chaos, Texas Blaze Gold, Ohio Hawks Gold, Beverly Bandits Tyrell (reigning champs and best team in the nation, SoCal Choppers Ziese, SoCal A’s McNeese, and Texas Dirt Divas (PGF Champs). Terrible way to be eliminated in one of the biggest events in the country in the 2nd Round! Overall congrats to our girls for being IDT’s Pool Champions."

Exactly, mine didn't either.

Neither PGF nor ASA allow college players to come back and play no matter the age.

In Boulder I noticed the majority of the girls on the field were not listed on the teams roster on their website

No idea Tampa pulled that sort of plastic-chasing antics at PGF....I'd get pissed, but I am guessing a bunch of Calif teams were doing the same thing

The whole travel ball club thing is bizarre to me, girls from Florida play for Georgia teams, girls from Colorado play on California teams and vice versa.  It as if the top teams are national all star teams.

If you were 16 or under on Dec. 31 of 2017, you were 16U eligible for 2018

Well.... SoCal is basically the only area with the concentration of athletes to field elite travel teams without the kids traveling significant distances

Scott Lowry (aka fresh), isn't that your team? What's the details on this Georgia Impact cheating scandal?

It's sad that the coaches of these cheating teams ruin the experience for all of the girls who are playing in the proper division.

Gets to other discussions here of kids illicitly hopping in front of a bunch of other athletes who have put in major time and money to play the game the right way

Not sure 'illicitly' is the term that works for that issue. You know the drill, some will argue for loyalty to existing players, some will argue that it's a dog eat dog world and we field the best team that we can field.
