LSU has them by one spot in the RPI but I like your argument much better.

Most of my figuring involves the fact that Brittany Gray is out and Georgia clearly hasn't been as good without her. Allegedly, the committee takes this into account. They lost 2 of 3 to the 2nd worst team in the league in Ole Miss last weekend them looked bad in the circle in getting blasted by Arkansas.

That will certainly prevent them from getting a top 8. NO way to know how much further they will drop them, but could happen.

Well, Mr.G, I hear ya.

But as long as Carley is healthy, they have more than a puncher's chance for OKC, IMO

Need that velo for Walljasper to contrast off of

The answer is she pitched their first game vs Florida in the next to last weekend of the regular season. Pitched 4 innings, gave up 4 runs, got the loss but not unusual vs UF. But since then LSU played 2 more vs UF, 3 vs Ark, then OM and Tenn in the SECT. That's 7 games, not a single pitch by Hoover.

Great pitching travels well.  I like LSU's chances to make the WCWS much more than I like Tennessee's, despite the game yesterday.

For teams with players that have injuries to a degree that it will cause them to miss NCAAT games or impact their ability to play, are schools required to disclose that to the Committee? Or can they try to keep it quiet so the Committee doesn't ding them in seeding?

I have NO IDEA if Carley Hoover has an injury that will impact her in the NCAAT, or if it's true that she is fine and recharging her batteries and will be 100% next week. But IF she is hurt in some way and the goal was not to let that info get out, you would do what they are doing ... which is put out adamant talking points that "Hoover is fine, healthy, not near being out for the post-season. She will be 100% ready to go for regionals."

Has a "me thinketh thou doth protest too much" ring to it. I certainly hope she gets to play for her sake and LSU's team. But I'm not sure that is a fact just because LSU officials are saying so.

Listen, Tarr last week understood this exactly.

She knew that, if the committee doesn't see Alvelo in Corvallis, I could get dumped, maybe out of the 8.

So, she jammed her in there. But she looked bad.

I am guessing that is still better than the committee not seeing Carley at all

Here's mine (could still revise based on today's results). If I do enough of these, surely I will be able to locate one later that was correct.  [biggrin]

1. Oregon          16. Auburn
2. Florida           15. Arkansas
3. UCLA             14. Texas A&M
4. Oklahoma      13. Alabama
5. Arizona St      12. Arizona
6. Washington    11. LSU
7. S. Carolina     10. Georgia
8. Tennessee       9. Florida St

You may be right about how far they drop UGA. Damn, you realize you are torturing me with that 12 seed, but then putting Ariz St and Juarez at 5 instead of Wash. LOL   I did the same. The difference to me is Ariz St won a game vs Oregon, won a game vs UCLA while Wash went 0 for 6, and Ariz St beat Wash 2 of 3.

By the way, IMO there's close to zero chance LSU is seeded ahead of Tennessee.

Wins vs
Top 10:  LSU 1, Tenn 7
Top 25:  LSU 15, Tenn 18
Top 50:  LSU 20, Tenn 23

And Tenn is 4-0 vs LSU

I just think that Georgia, with that pitching, is a sitting duck a little bit right now.

OK.... you sold me.

I just know that the past two years ... THIS committee cycle has seen LSU get to the WCWS as an >8 seed

It was more a gut feeling of deep respect.

But, you have sold me....swapping that

The 4-0 head to head record vs LSU and Tennessee's 7 wins vs the top 10 are big. Tenn is 2nd only to Oregon (which has a gawdy 11) in top 10 wins, and tied with Oregon for 2nd in top 25 wins with 18. Florida has 26.

Inarguable

FSU may indeed be 9, no matter today's result.

This is all so razor thin

That 10-2 5-inning job vs. UF makes is sticky to me for Tennessee as a top 8, but the body of work is top 8-caliber

It would be criminal if LSU is seeded ahead of Tennessee. And what you describe above is the resume' of a top 8 lock.

I think S. Carolina could be playing for a top 8 against Florida tonight.

And Georgia is the wildcard. Where do they land? I still think behind LSU but ahead of the other SEC teams in that area of the RPI.

It seems like one of the most interesting things to watch for with the committee seeds is what will they do with Georgia. The NCAA By-Law for selections and seeding states that the Committee's evaluation should include players who are "eligible and available."  Since Brittany Gray's injury, UGA is 7-6 and that includes a win over Mercer and another over USC Upstate. UGA closed the season losing 4 of their last 5 - combined score of 24-10 in those 4 losses.

So how will the Committee seed UGA?  You could certainly argue that their resume' and entire season body of work is deserving of a top 8 national seed. Or you could argue on the other extreme that without Gray they are barely a top 16 host. I am guessing they get 12 or 13 or so. But I rarely correctly predict what this Committee will do.

well I hope the committee looks at our series wins over Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri all without Brittany gray. that's 4 series! more than half that we won (7). everyone talks about Tennessee and everything but didn't they have a downhill spiral similar to what we are in now? we won 2 of 3 from them EASILY WITHOUT gray. and I think at times this year their pitchers have been worse than ours, especially moss when she throws fatties right down the middle similar to what avant does at times. all I'm saying is they hopefully will put more emphasis over the whole period of grays absence that of the last couple weeks. shes been out much longer than I think many people realize. I think we should be ahead of Tennessee personally.

I was absolutely on board with that train of thought, and repeatedly posted about it, even after the Ole Miss series, but Georgia's RPI dropped to 10 and then they lost their first game of the SEC tourney.  I no longer see a path to a top 8.  I sincerely hope I am wrong.  Good luck!!

you can never tell with our committee considering how they snubbed Minnesota last year but I have kind of sat back and watched many people post about Georgia and have realized your defense in them. I just don't believe many people know that gray has been out majority of the sec season.  but I don't think we should be below 10th honestly. id like to be matched up with someone with pitching I know that we can hit because we will need to hit to win. I think Tennessee would be a great matchup!
