That win over Washington was big for Notre Dame. Kentucky and Auburn are head scratchers.

Will be interesting to see how the two chief polls change. Only four teams in the top 25 (Florida, Arizona, Michigan, Baylor) played top 16 teams twice each. Otherwise, the remaining top 25 teams had less challenging opening schedules.

I would say you have Texas too high - they should be more around 10-12. They haven't played anyone.
I think you dropped Washington too much. They'll still be like 7.
I think if you're gonna keep Georgia that high, then you need to have Indiana (the team who beat them and is still undefeated) in your top 20.
Michigan is too high. They continue to underperform.
Texas A&M has no business in the top 20 after getting slaughtered by North Texas.

Just my thoughts 😉

No honest poster could disagree with that assessment. You hit at least five (maybe six) nails squarely on the head.

On the other hand, honest posters are often scarce around these parts.

I think UT is in a good place at 7. Texas A&M should have never been in the top 25 and definitely shouldn't be in the top 20.

Considerations for last couple spots: Illinois, Oregon, Minnesota

Oklahoma should be one, besides that meh, too early to really know, but I will say your SEC bias is showing.

John - You had the same top twenty teams as I did - except you put in Indiana - and took out Texas A&M.

I thought about putting Florida at #1 - because of their quality wins...  but decided that I still like UCLA better...
and Oklahoma is the team I root for (and they have Florida's number)... so I had to put them ahead of Fla.

I agree that Washington is almost surely the better team (over Tenn, LSU, Texas, Ark & Bama)...
but in this early version of the rankings - I am going with those no loss teams over the 1 loss teams.
That does not mean I think those teams are better teams. It just means they have the better record - right now.

You have Baylor ahead of Oklahoma State... but Baylor has two losses - and Ok. State has just one.
I am following the same reasoning as in the Washington comments above.  Ok. State just has the better record - right now.

The main reason I have Texas A&M in my top 20 - is because they were ranked #20 in the original poll...
and they had better results during this first week than the teams that I dropped below them.
That left them at #17.  I do not think they will be a top 17 team - when the season gets a bit older.

And I did strongly consider putting Indiana in my top 20.
I also like Illinois & NC State (as BlueSky mentioned above in post #11).

It's a shame aTm didn't drop two games instead of just one. You could have moved them all the way up to #14. [wink]

Well he’s a B1G fan, so that’s inaccurate to say.
