Kudos to the San Francisco Giant's Matt Cain who threw the first perfect game in the 128 year history of the Giants franchise in a 10-0 lopsided victory over the Astros.  Somewhere Bill Smith is enjoying an extra Mountain Dew.

Indeed I am. (@ now 12:15am Thursday)

Awesome display of pitching and defense. On a night where a guy is in flying over McCovey Cove using some Jame Bond hydro suit, the US Open is in town, Giants anemic offense scores double-digits...Matt Cain throws a perfect game and trumps it all.

Softball connection. UCLA softballer Amy Crawford's brother is the SF Giants starting shortstop. Brandon came in tonight as a late inning defensive replacement. As is well-known, the ball will find you...and it did. A cold Crawford had to field a wicked hop grounder to retire an Astro in the eighth.

Gregor Blanco's catch was the play of the game. If you've been involved in a special game like this, you know the effort one makes to keep a string alive. Blanco made that supreme 100% effort to keep the perfect game alive on a diving catch in the RCF gap.

On night's like this, 1080 HD, texting, bluetooth in the ear...almost as good as being there. A L M O S T.

I pitched a perfect game against a minor league team. "Look what I can do, look what I can do". JK a perfect game is a perfect game.

Nice come from behind down 1-3 in their series against the Lakers stepsisters. Total domination in game 7 vs. Clippers. Now headed north from SoCal to the capital of Cal. Is there a need for them to travel with their own water?

kiir- No need to bring water. We got plenty of Brawndo for `em. Houston sure proved the detractors wrong. Who put what in Dwight Howard's water bottle? Should be a good series. I will not be in attendance. TV good enough for me. Cost of tickets will be crazy, stupid. Usually a client offers up, but I wouldn't want whatever the quip pro quo to be expected at those costs per ducat.

Should we make a bet? I can afford a loaf of sourdough bread. [tongue]

Good sports day with the Rocket win and seeing my friend at LSU, with her team, coming back to sweep Arizona state today. Top of her lineup are as good as any

I love a good sourdough. I'll put up some Blue Bell stock
I'll come up with something comparable.

The Vegas oddsmakers had Houston as a 2,5 dog. Really, no respect. The Clippers have no bench, and the Rockets are fairly deep. I guess it's a regional thing.

P.S., kudos to LSU for getting the job done.

A inspiring message to be sure, but has more validity coming from Lyle than Matthew. [biggrin]

McConnaughy from Uvalde, went to Texas
Lovett grew up in Klein went to Texas AandM. six of one half dozen of the other. At least they didn't have a race baiter like Michelle spewing her and pookie's divisive speak at something as important as graduation. Do I get a hint of your jealousy of Lyle's good looks? Ahem

Dirty diaper Dodgers go out in a No-No to the 6th or 7th pitcher in the Astros starting pitcher lineup.  Dodgers just like their fan base.

Dodgers: $300 million payroll, ten-cent bullpen.

Giants: Flip LA the bird last night as Marlon hits HR in first Giant at bat.

Cardinals: might whoop both, but it has been interesting.

Not our 'year' anyway. Giants good on the even calendar.

World Series Champs: 2010, 2012, 2014

Wasn't there someone who used to dismiss any chance of the SF Giants ever getting back to the Series?  [biggrin]

Not me.  I've liked the Giants for some reason as a wee lad watching Mays and McCovey in the Astrodome.  I can root for other sports teams besides my own

Bill - I signed up on DraftKings a couple of months ago.  It's a lot of fun but, clearly, I'm the unluckiest player they must have as a signee.  Oh, do I have stories of bad beats.  In any event, I had Marlon yesterday...0/4 with three K's.  Marte's walk off knocked me from sixth to eighth and only top six pay.  And the beat goes on.

Dewey- Bad beats? I am headed there tomorrow, Reno. If one more player holding a pair of rags hits an inside straight on the river, I won't need a hand grenade to wreak havoc and revenge.

Yeah, Marlon followed up his inaugural great game with a clinker. Not a performance anyone holding him on a fantasy roster would want to see. But he delivered on day one for the Giants.

kiir- Giants were my hometown team, but not my favorite back-in-the-day. Got to see the two Willie's give pitchers the willies season after season. Mays was easily the best player I have ever seen. Beyond the five tools...Don't know that I ever saw him thrown out trying to take an extra base.

Astros didn't get the win vs. Kershaw but they wasted his effort, going for a sweep of the highest payroll in MLB.

300 million vs. 77 million, dodgers sound like our bloated government on steroids. Going to see now what they can do now with that ten cent bullpen.

Edit: dodgers dusted

kiir- I didn't catch the end, but heard off the 9th inning heroics to tie the game at 2-2 today. Recent stock market decline nowhere near that of Dodger bullpen. Yikes!

What a win vs. the over priced Yankees. Astros payroll at number 25

The Astro's farm club finally got over the previous owners scorched earth policy, and brought the kids up. Add a key roster pickup or two. and  H town has a contender 2-3 years earlier than thought.

Was the Lotief shift on, or what? Where was 3rd baseman? SS looked like he was standing on 2nd base.

40 points in 34 shots is 1.18 pts/shot - not shabby, but a little lower than the 1.32 (31.6/24) he averaged this season.

Holding him to less than a point per shot would be remarkable.

Well, maybe the Rockets could have been "remarkable" if the series had gone more than 5 games. Unfortunately we'll never know.

Put this in the calculator.................

For the series, Westbrook missed 35 of 49 4th quarter shots.
