(This is a duplicate from Benghazi thread, applicable there and here )

Remember the four mid-level State Dept scapegoats that Clinton put on administrative leave for their role in Benghazi?

Under Kerry, all four have been cleared of wrongdoing and can return to their jobs.

Leaving exactly zero persons accountable for the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, on the Obama / Clinton watch.

Americans looking for accountability in their government would do well to steer far clear Clinton in 2016.

Since it's in the news and we're talking about qualifications, does anyone think the fact Sen. Cruz was born in Canada should disqualify him from being POTUS?  I say no.

dewy, you keep trying to hijack the thread and you aren't going to do it.  You started on page two with Rand Paul and Ted Cruz talk.  You devolved later in the thread and wanted us to do your homework for you on any 'qualified' democrat candidates.  This is a hillary thread and as much as you like the quibbling you can take your Ted Cruz conversation to your dead thread where you can converse with yourself.

Are you surprised that the 4 were cleared?  I figured they were scapegoated anyways, like the video dude.

There are a couple of people responsible - the ones that got the call and did nothing while our men were fighting for their lives - but we'll never see anything come of that.

It's so interesting that Camille Paglia has the same conclusion about Democratic presidential contenders that many of us in this forum on the right feel about Republicans.  It's time to get rid of the old guard.

But more interestingly, Paglia comes to the same conclusion that many of us in here have about Hillary - SHE HAS DONE NOTHING!  This from a committed leftist who at least has the courage to say what she really thinks rather than thinking she's in a debating society and has to win the argument no matter how impossible the task because of pure logic.

Here is Paglia from that article, on Clinton:

As a registered Democrat, I am praying for a credible presidential candidate to emerge from the younger tier of politicians in their late 40s. A governor with executive experience would be ideal. It’s time to put my baby-boom generation out to pasture! We’ve had our day and managed to muck up a hell of a lot. It remains baffling how anyone would think that Hillary Clinton (born the same year as me) is our party’s best chance. She has more sooty baggage than a 90-car freight train. And what exactly has she ever accomplished — beyond bullishly covering for her philandering husband? She’s certainly busy, busy and ever on the move — with the tunnel-vision workaholism of someone trying to blot out uncomfortable private thoughts.

I for one think it was a very big deal that our ambassador was murdered in Benghazi. In saying “I take responsibility” for it as secretary of state, Hillary should have resigned immediately. The weak response by the Obama administration to that tragedy has given a huge opening to Republicans in the next presidential election. The impression has been amply given that Benghazi was treated as a public relations matter to massage rather than as the major and outrageous attack on the U.S. that it was.

Awesome article, thanks for finding that one.  A straight arrow shoots so true.  I find it refreshing that Salon is starting to do some real analytical thinking and getting away from the spin and the pandering.

Hearing rumblings that Biden may take a run at the nomination.  The feelers are out.  It would be good to see an honest debate among some candidates on the left so that they could air out their differences in front of the American people.  Competition is good and it might just show how whacked out the hag really is.  I would love to see her lose her temper and flail like a wounded animal on TV.

I've been wondering why Biden has been laying low, not out publicly railing on and on about the POTUS's policies like he used to.

Hillary's first big policy speech branded half the country as racists, who are trying to stop minorities from voting.  What a joke.

mikec - Why do you think there are efforts to reduce the dates to register and reduce the number of days to vote?

Do the reduced dates apply to only a certain race, Dewey?

Why do you need an ID to get a library card, but not to vote?

Why do you need ID to get a drivers license, but not to vote?

Why so you need an ID to board an airplane, but not to vote?

Why do you need an ID to get welfare, but not to vote?

To open a bank account, but not to vote?

The list goes on and on.

Why is it so difficult to show your ID to vote, when you need an ID to function normally in society?

The motivation, as appears obvious in most situations that require an ID, is to ensure the person using the ID is in fact the person using ID.

Why would liberals oppose the use of ID for voting but not for anything else?

CA law requires you to carry your ID at all times. Why should voting be exempt?

How about you explain what you think the motivation is? And how it's discriminatory if it applies to everyone.

FIB - These laws are intended to suppress the vote of minority folks who may need to take advantage of additional days for voting and registering.  I doubt there are many voters in any community who would risk going to jail in order to drop in and vote a second time in place of their dead Aunt June.  I don't expect many Conservatives to come out and openly admit it but I have little doubt it is well understood why these laws are being put into place.  Now do you intend to explain the motivation behind reducing the days open to vote and/or register, or did I get, as you like to say, railroaded to go solo?

Wait. So you are saying only "minority folks" require extra time to register and / or vote?

How do you reach that conclusion?

Complete hogwash, Dewey, and more of the narrative.  Tell me why minorities need to take advantage of additional days more that non-minorities.

bhblue and FIB - OK, ask me for an answer only to pounce on it because you don't like it.  How about you two show the same courtesy and explain why the need to reduce the number of days to vote and register and then we'll continue the exchange discussing the merits of our positions?  Right now, you haven't shared your reasons why we needed these laws.

PS:  FIB, of course not.  Everyone can take advantage of the extra days to vote and register.

Why don't you tell me exactly what states you're talking about, then I can try to read their minds.

And, she specifically called out the recent SCOTUS decision relative to the Voting Rights Act.

She was saying that us southerners still need federal supervision to administer our elections, because we are racist. I take great offense to that, because it is simply not true.

And, I think we all know that what she was trying to do was to keep the black electorate engaged by alleging discrimination, and pretending to champion their cause. Pretty transparent, and desperate, but unfortunately, some people will probably but it.

mikec - Where did those other two guys go?  Anyways, I'm not going to try change your view as to what you think Hillary's motives are.  I think it's as clear to her as it is to me that these laws are meant to suppress a vote by the minority community.  In any event, why am I having trouble getting an answer as to why the days to vote and register had to be reduced?  I think they did this in North Carolina.

I'm not sure why some states want to make changes to the early voting periods.  I do know that 18 states, including NY, MI, MA, CT, and DE, don't allow early voting at all.  All historically Democrat leaning states.  I haven't heard you or your cohorts complaining about them.  Maybe those poor, disenfranchised, suppressed folks in those states are Republicans.  Maybe I should make the same absurd claims you do.

bhblue - I'm not sure?

When things are done for reasons you can't understand, please don't be so quick to think other people can't understand them either, or at least have a very strong opinion as to why they were done.

Dewey, I didn't pounce on your answer because I don't like it, I merely asked how you came to the conclusion these laws are "intended to suppress the vote of minority folks."

That is a weighty assertion on your part, and I think most would agree that discriminatory laws shouldn't exist, if in fact they do.

Since you brought up the topic, and made the assertion, shouldn't the onus be on you to substantiate your claim?

It is analogous to me saying "Obama is a terrible president" but offering you nothing to support my claim.

Some people will buy it, but more and more are seeing through this tactic. America has to ask itself if they really want more of the same beyond 2016.

ForeverInBlue - Some red states are reducing the days one has to vote and/or to register.  In addition, they are requiring your ID to be presented when you register, which may have been years ago, and now again when you show up at the voting booth.  The only answers I come up with on my own, or have been provided to me by others, that make significant sense as to the motivation of those behind these laws, are this is an attempt to reduce the minority participation in elections.

I've given you several opportunities to provide me with an alternative reason that I could ponder and you've refused.  I would think you would want to go out of your way to convince me I'm wrong.  All you've managed to do, by refusing to provide a quality alternative answer, is help me solidify my conclusions are accurate.

Dewey - Not understand?  You never claimed that.  You claimed to "have little doubt it is well understood why these laws are being put into place."  Not quite the same thing is it?  So, instead of have a "strong opinion" and not being able/willing to back it up, I just state I'm not sure, because I'm not.  You say it's to suppress minority voters, not poor, disabled voters; minority voters.  However, when pressed, you ask me to explain other peoples' motivations.  I can understand why you believe these changes are politically motivated, but, all that aside, please explain how they only suppress minorities.
