Hey Cajun fans, what's up with Coach Lotief?  I heard around town that he was suspended for 2 weeks.  Could not coach or even be on campus for that time period.

Well now we know how to end all of those ULL vs. LSU threads.

In the Lafayette paper now
http://www.theadvertiser.com/story/sports/college/ul/2017/10/18/ul-softball-coach-lotief-placed-administrative-leave/776091001/

Makes it seems like it was an argument but suspension for that seems steep. Perhaps, an altercation happened?

“Approximately two weeks ago, Coach Lotief was informed that he was placed on administrative leave. We would like the softball fan base, Ragin’ Cajun supporters and the good people of Lafayette to understand that this action arises out of a passionate conversation about gender equity, between Coach Lotief and other University personnel. In this conversation, Coach Lotief raised simple issues like getting the grass cut, making sure students have an athletic trainer at practice, making sure the assistant coaches get paid and ensuring female athletes get a functional assessment before doing weight training."

Ouch

I know YG said her dad used to cut the grass but that was at least 15 years ago, you'd think they'd be managing things better by now. If they won't even cut the grass there's no hope for any outfield padding.

I hadn't heard any of this until released today (and from the original thread post). The basis of the the lawyers statement seems 100% Coach Lotief to me. I can't ever see Mike becoming physical, but I can see him being very verbal (some umpires might agree [biggrin]). He's always been a vocal proponent of gender equity and has some issues a few years back with the former AD when he resigned and became a volunteer coach before the University president got involved. It will be curious to see what comes of this.

Check this out. This guy is a real fighter! Coach Lotief knows how to preserver and handle real pain.

Lol... lotief looks like he is decidedly on my side in RIPPING the preferential field treatment for baseball over softball. I love it

More often than not it usually comes down to $$.
Getting what women deserve in the collegiate arena.
Having to get out and raise money for a particular sport and not see that money used is heartbreaking.
The idea that he has to claw and fight for gender equity sounds bad. After watching that video I think that is his makeup.. Fight with all his might against the injustice. He has been doing more with less for a long time. I wish him the best .

Possibly deflection from internal discourse. Love the Ragins , but always tainted by the smell of fish.

I can't help it if Patrick got it wrong. The abbreviation of Louisiana is LA. We are Louisiana.

LA has an impressive history of taking less than blue chip recruits and beating other schools' blue chip recruits. It's always more fun to root for David instead of Goliath.

Mike has a history of going to the mat for his assistants when he thinks it right.

Hey Chin, why don't you listen to the whole speech, you might get something about the game of life, instead of being that "jerk".

I did listen to the whole thing. ML is a very deserving recipient, I don’t recall ever uttering an unflattering word about him. And then there are the fans......
