to the greatest country ever devised by man. underline added as a reminder of who we are.

"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

Thanks sir, you too.

I just booked hotel in DC for next year. Going to that Capitol Fourth show that they do every year on PBS.

Haven't been up there in awhile - time to go again.

Went and saw Boston Harbor fireworks and Red Sox vs. Astros July 4, 2015, went to DC last November before they froze to death in December onward.  That is a neat city to see, spent a whole week there and I wouldn't have gone if hilLIARy was President.  The humidity was bad in Boston on that 4th, hope you fare well in DC.

We are a great country and will survive this assault on the values that made it great. American's love of freedom and their willingness to share that freedom with people from less fortunate parts of the world is a major component of that success. The majority of people coming here to live are not criminals or "porch sitters", but people willing to pull up stakes and head for a chance here to better their lives. This courage should not be ignored. These people are part of what makes us great, not some self serving, hypocritical, narcissistic carnival barker playing to the insecurities and ignorance of a minority of our populace. Some of you appear smarter than to fall for his rhetoric and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how you can be so easily duped. It's a mystery.

Happy birthday to the greatest political and societal experiment in the history of our planet. May we come to our senses before it becomes forever distorted from it's original course.

Speaking of duped, you have fallen for the liberal lie that conservatives are opposed to immigrants.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The reality is that we are for upholding the rule of law and illegal immigrants insult the good people who have come here legally.

Why they not do it legally?  Why the fake refugee crisis stuffs?

Why can't Dems work on laws to change these laws and get them passed in congress?

Valid questions, right?

Been to DC about 10 times.  It doesn't matter who's POTUS.  I don't bump into them at Arlington or the National Archives.

Last trip up was about 5 years ago.  I stopped by Appomattox Courthouse on the way back.  That place was fascinating, at least to me.  It is pretty well preserved, with the surrender home, several other homes, a bed-breakfast stage coach stop, general store, courthouse, and a few other buildings.  Very interesting to see what towns of that era looked like.

We always start at the archives, then go to Arlington, then museum our brains out.  We head down to Mt Vernon sometimes too.  Went down there one time on Christmas and like to froze to death.

Great town.  Every American should visit, and every elected official should be made to spend an hour over at the Archives visiting the Declaration and the Constitution.

Not to scrog my own thread here, but why do they get to just walk in willy-nilly?  Shouldn't they have to apply and come in?

I just don't get why Dems are against that.
