My, and I believe kir's, you know me well enough to speak for me point is that if alcohol is legal, with all we know about its dangers, why is pot illegal when statistics show it's less dangerous?

From a poster on the softball forum of this site, Fagan thread

Quote:
Smoking weed is about the most minor thing imaginable. It is ridiculous that it is a crime and ridiculous that law enforcement and the justice system waste their time on it. They won't sit more than this weekend, nor should they. And I'm a Bama fan.

Alcohol destroys so many more lives and families than pot that it's not even funny, and cigarettes kill more humans than any substance on Earth. Those things are legal and pot is illegal. Dumb.

I always read the police blotter from a small town east of us. The majority of the arrest aren't for being a thief, shoplifter, robber, or illegal alien. It is for possession of controlled substance. Specifically MJ. Sure there is some Meth and other substances on occasion, but it seems rather strange that 75 percent of the cases that "law enforcement" sends to the local DA for prosecution, are people driving through town with weed. Our Government seems to be in the business of telling people what they can and can't do. It almost seems like they want everyone to have some type of infraction on their "permanent record", to hold over their head when needed. Everyone is then a criminal, unless you are one of the more equal animals, then you aren't prosecuted when you violate "the law".

Thanks brudder, appreciate the heck out of that.

Tough morning this morning loading him up.  I have no brothers, no brother-in-laws on my side of the family [my favorite one died at 58].  Wayyyyyyyy too much estrogen in my immediate family circle.  Got 2 daughters, 2 sisters, a wife, a mom and they come with sooooooo much emotion.  Son lives in Colorado who lives with his mom there and he acts like a typical Colorado liberal, he'll be here next week.  So I come here for my raw content and tough language and to scrap with you real manly men

Anyone who thinks marijuana is harmless is fooling themselves..............

The stuff should be illegal in every state..........

The alcohol discussion has nothing to do with it..........Making alcohol illegal can be a discussion, but, it has nothing to do with the marijuana discussion...........

Truth be told, I'm with you.  3 sisters, 3 daughters.  No sons.  I have male dog, but he has no man parts left, so he doesn't count.

I do hope that it goes ok - tough place to be.

My mom was gravely ill a few years back (pulled through). Keeping the sisters from killing each other was more difficult than dealing with mom.  In my case, the dad factor is a force multiplier.  I needed about a month to decompress after being there for a week.

Against my better judgment, I will admit that blue has captured what I was trying to say, in far fewer words.

I'm not sure what's happening with your dad and there's no need to repeat it here since you've obviously already mentioned it and I missed it.  I'll just hope that whatever is going on gets resolved with relative ease and not much trauma.  Praying for you and your family.

Once again not having any idea what you are talking about never stops you from pontificating on a subject.
I almost fell out of my chair laughing when you pulled the tired old "gateway drug" argument I have been hearing for almost 50 years.

'dog uses his own version of Haiku poetry...

"Haiku" is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.

I deleted the part of my post this morning, where I said I was going to roll a big fatty, Dad went into nursing home today.  mike caught it before I edited my post, I left it on there for a good 12 hours and didn't want it living in perpetuity.  Appreciate the kind words pabar, people have gone through this and survived of course, it's just different when it actually happens

kir's father is one of the special people I've had the pleasure of meeting through softball.  A true Southern gentleman IMO.  Cooks a mean brisket to boot.

Good luck, Bull.
