Went to buy a Sig P226 today. Talked it over with the guy at Carters Country for half an hour. What am I using it for, where am I carrying it. Since I usually chunk it in the truck, and use it on the deer lease, he talked me out of the Sig. I wound up buying a Glock 19 gen3 9mm and a Glock 21 gen 4 in 45 apc for the same price as the Sig. Next up a .22 LR pistol with threaded barrel for suppressor, and a .308 bolt action rifle for suppressed rounds, or a 45-70 lever action, or if I can find it, a .44 magnum rifle with a threaded barrel..

Telling you the glocks are the ultimate knock around guns.  You can aford twice as many.  They are bit sloppy band clack clack a bit, so not the smoothest piece of machinery.  But when you point them in a direction the bullets go out, their extensive usage in police and military means there are always parts, and they are super long lived.

I stripped the 9mm yesterday, and was impressed with the simple design. Drop it in the mud, stomp it, pick it up a week later, and I would bet it runs.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/09/25/concealed-carry-permit-holders-less-reckless-behind-wheel-than-other-drivers-study-says.html

Gun owners with concealed carry permits are less likely to drive recklessly than other drivers, according to an analysis released Monday.

The Crime Prevention Research Center, a gun advocacy research group, said that data from Michigan shows that drivers without concealed carry permits were 12.2 times more likely to violate the law.

The nonprofit found that compared to permit holders, drivers without permits were 2.4 times more likely to drive drunk, 34.1 times more likely to drive under the influence of a controlled substance, and 10.6 times more likely to drive recklessly.

A whole lot of people in America might be packing pistols. A group of researchers including academics from Harvard and Northeastern universities has estimated that 3 million adult handgun owners carry a loaded gun every day, with the vast majority saying they do it for protection.

In addition to the 3 million who carried a gun every day, another 6 million people carried a gun at least once a month, researchers estimated.

The study was the first in more than 20 years to look at why, how often, and in what way adults carry loaded handguns, the university said.

Why do you think the killers are the only ones we read about? These gun toters never seem to be around when a crime is occurring.

It's called Google.  Try it and you'll find plenty of stories about as$hole criminals like you that were stopped by a gun.

You won't hear it from the MSM. That's for f'ing sure. Lots of cases of self defense. Nothing reported. It doesn't fit the Leftist narrative.

Constitutional carry in all states is the law under the constitution. That means a law abiding citizen doesn't require permission to carry concealed or open, or carry a weapon in their vehicle, or have a weapon in their home. That is what the second amendment says very clearly. It isn't open to debate. If you don't like it, assemble a group of politicians and amend the constitution to eliminate the second amendment as it was written by our founding fathers. I urge Socialists Democrats to do this leading up to the 2018 elections. Go all in.

Not currently, but may want to form one up to offset over aggressive reckless government, just like founders did.

No, I am the people whose right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. I am the man the government would call into the militia when needed. A man that has adequate arms in place without need of government aid. Please tell me that you are not as ignorant of the constitution as you allude to. I mean really you aren't that ignorant of the subject are you?

Once in the militia, you will be guaranteed a right to bear arms. Now you are at the mercy of the government. Patriot that you are, I'm sure you follow all the gun and amunition laws out at the Alamo.

Please read up on the revolutionary war. It's sad you have so little knowledge of your own nation's history. Are you really that ignorant or are you just playing some game? Reading talking points? What don't you understand?

Total freakin idiot you are.
Libs love to misinterpret the Constitution when it suits them but turn a blind, deaf, and dumb eye to it when they have no use for the restrictions it rightly places on the federal government. Then the Constitution is no so bueno

The second amendment was designed to allow privately armed citizens to not only come to the aid of the nation, but also allow the armed citizens to overthrow their own government. Remember the nation had just had a brutal war between English rule, and loyalist to the crown. There were atrocities on both sides. Our founding fathers wrote the constitution to ensure that our newly founded government did not revert to a monarchy. This was foremost on their minds. They were determined to never have the citizenry ruled over by a strong central government. To this end they wrote the second amendment to ensure that the citizenry could have arms in their possession in order to oppose the second rising of a tyrannical government. Read and and learn. Stop being a stupid and ignorant person that believes all the talking points stuffed into the limited area between your ears. Be better than that. Learn, understand the very unique privilege afforded to you by the sacrifice and blood of patriots. In no other nation would you be afforded as many God given rights and freedoms. You are an inept person.

Anybody seen or heard much about the Ruger AR-556?  A store about 40 miles away from me has them for about $450.  Academy has them for about $650.  I may head over there this weekend and pick one up.

Also - what about Palmetto State Armory AR's?  The same place has one that looks to have better specs than the Ruger for about $400, which seems like quite a deal.
