You must train the draw out of any holster/bag/purse you plan on carrying.  Maybe at least 200 times.  Retrain once a month.

Since you live in the country, you train the draw right at the house.  Drawing and firing are important.

Just last night, a lady was followed by a car from the big city (about 18k pop) near us (about 10 miles away) all the way to our neighborhood.  She said they had no headlights on, but once she turned onto the little mountain road leading to our neighborhood, which is very dark and twisty, they started flashing their brights to get her to pull over.  She called the Sheriff, but of course it took them awhile to get here.  She spent a half hour driving that little road until the sheriffs got there, and the car took off.

I need to get the kid a weapon that can go between the car and her suite below.  I don't want her driving that road unarmed any longer.

Thanks.  In our neighborhood, some folks have built backyard ranges, and there is all sorts of controversy over them actually using it.

Our county has pretty liberal laws relative to discharging a firearm, which are easy to comply with.  It seems not everyone in the neighborhood is fond of 2A rights.

We are surrounded by wildlife management areas, farms, and wild forests.  I suspect they can't tell where the shots are coming from.  I hear gunshots every day around here.

Speaking of, it's better than the gunshots prevalent at one school my daughter played at.  Some of the out-of-towners were asking if they were fireworks.  Me and another guy (retired deputy) just looked at each, and said of course.  Tough neighborhood, and some of that gunfire was too close for comfort.

ps - I think I know what the wife and kids are getting for Christmas in April.

Guns are good in or near your vehicle. However, there are places your DD or wife may have to go in and out of that prohibit firearms. I bought my DD a few pig sticker folding lock blade knives when she started college, and traveling. I also showed her how to do use a knife in close quarters, and where and how to place it into the body in effective areas. Granted she's a small gal, but she is pretty aggressive, and if she had to, I would say she would have a 50-50 chance against a full grown man. That's better than no odds.

that was his girlfriend.  they have identified them, but I am not sure if they've been captured.

what is not captured in that story are reports that the fat guy was yelling "you voted for trump - get the white biatch", before his girlfriend came running over, and what you see in the video happened.

these people are always so tough picking on women and kids.

I live in So Cal, Riverside County, amongst massive orange groves and open high desert. This morning about 9 am I see a coyote prowling my fence line and my two big dogs are going nuts. Coyote stops and is looking straight into my bedroom window from about 30 feet. I grab the nearest weapon (my ccw 9 Shield) and get out there. (I know, not the best coyote weapon, but I can shoot, and the shotgun was in the closet). Plus, not normal for the coyotes in this area to be that brazen that late in the day, so I'm thinking maybe rabies, maybe a pack feeling bold. Anyway, as I'm walking outside my fence line, my neighbors little yappy dog is going nuts at her fence. I'm thinking it was probably that dog that the coyote was eye-balling for breakfast. The neighbor lady comes out, and sees me, and says "What are you doing there? Cause I see what's in your hand"
Her tone clearly indicates she is outraged that someone has a gun in her presence. Cali people think that way. I say "Maybe you want to get that dog inside before this coyote I just saw takes him for breakfast." Funny look crosses her face, and she calls her pup back inside.
I fully expected a Riverside County Sheriff to show up at my door this morning to hassle me. But at least that didn't happen. Tomorrow morning I'll take the 12gauge out for a stroll and see if he re-appears.

I suspect that coyote has moved on.  They are looking for easy meals, not meals that look like they might get shot.  1000's homes in rural hill areas like that with small pups or cats that are easy picking.  No need to get all wrapped up on one.

Yea we've got packs that live in the surrounding hills, they stay around the pockets of these neighborhoods for the cats mostly. Wife wants me to take one down then mount it on the fence as a warning to his friends.

I guess we are kind of lucky.

Son had the game Warden out couple weeks back for his permit. Had to show him where he was going to be shooting after dark. He has a .308 with a thermal scope. He has gotten a few coyots come in to the call. The warden won't come out if someone in the area calls in for a rifle shot in the night if there is a night permit in the area.

Its 5:30 here just now, wife and I and dogs were out floating in the pool, the same coyote comes up to the fence right next to the pool. My Big black dog goes apesh1t, when he's fired up he grabs the chain link in his mouth and starts pulling the fence apart lol. Quite a scene. I jump out of the pool, run in and grab the 12. Coyote hasn't returned yet.

Yea you are lucky to live in a normal part of the country. So Cal is far from that. When I pull the trigger on this coyote, I might as well go sit out on the front porch till the sheriff rolls up to 'investigate'.
