Graham Hays Archive

Graham Hays, in my opinion, has brought a great light to the sports world. We are all very protective of the sport we love and he has come in with great knowledge, research and passion.

It seems that someone always puts up a link to his stories and it has been asked to put up a link to ALL of his stories. So with his permission, he has supplied me with the link to his achieve site.

I felt the forum was a great spot for this at first and then we will look to put a link on the front page of UCS in time.

So please continue to put links to his stories on the forum, but now we have a place to see them all. It is probably a good idea for us to hit the links to read. Maybe, it will give the Powers That Be at ESPN an indication of how many out here would like to see more (college) softball on TV.

Thank you again to Steve Robitailles, Graham Hays, the many great people of this site and the softball community.

One of my favorites, April 17, 2007 "Lake Lifts One Out Of the Park" our whole family cried. Not just about the story, but this is an incredible young woman. And an exceptional ambassador for softball and our youth.

My favorite: 355 pitches, especially the line
"And from extended weather reports from roving reporter Jennie Finch to excessive camera time for the self-dubbed "Four Horsemen" UCLA fan club, we were there for every awkward moment."

Softball may be taking a break but Mr. Hays sure isn't.

myopinion - Sorry for my tardiness but I too wish Coach Manarino, the Rebels, and everyone else in that state, all the luck in the world.

Women's game needs more women coaches

Despite its primary focus on women's basketball, Mr. Hays writes a very interesting article discussing women and coaching.

The Sad part of our country is that still many people discriminate on these :
Color of skin, Gender, Race, and unfortunately Age.
Why a woman can't coach a men's team ???
How come a woman can be a CEO but not be able to coach a male college
athlete ?
ETC...ETC...ETC...

Fox Sports AZ does a show called In My Own Words. I recently saw a profile on ASU women's  basketball coach Charlie Turner Thorne. At the age of 14 she coached a boys rec team ages 7 & 8. One comment she made that I thought was real cute was that after practice she and her team would sit by the street and wait for their parents to pick them up.
