If we already have a thread here then please delete this.  I was just wondering what is Minnesota going to do for 2020 without a catcher.  Rumor has it they are desperate calling any and everyone, the current freshman is not cutting it.

With Lidaman leaving in 2018, Burns leaving in 2019 and Miller leaving in 2019.  What is going on over there with not developing catchers.

They are very very desperate. If they do not find one, they are in serious trouble.

Did anyone watch them in fall ball? How’d the freshmen hold up?

Maybe someone should let Mizzou Catchers know Minnesota is looking. Postseason ban might make someone jump

Anyone know why Burns left? She got a lot of playing time last year and would clearly have been a starter again this year.

On a different note, the Gophs have a pretty strong team returning:
1. Jensen - CF
2. Partain - 2B
3. Brandner- 1B
4. DenHartog - LF
5. Kemmetmeuler - 3B
6. Lindner- RF
7. Brandt -SS?

Then you have Fiser in the circle with much more of a staff to back her up with Pease from Idaho State, the Freshman from Canada, and Lowary.

Any other incoming freshman/transfers looking like they’re gonna make an impact this year?

This is a good point.  Could they be dragging their feet on a transfer because they are waiting till after semester to see who comes available?

Hopefully they find a quality catcher.

They have 1 freshman catcher in Olivia and a sophomore who batted .229 last year Josey White.  Are we saying they are not capable of cracking the starting 9?  And if they aren't...isn't this Coach T's recruits?

I imagine JW is going to be getting the starts and asked to carry the load.

I was told the Freshman is a walk on, so guessing she was not expected to play.

Minnesota will no doubt have a great top 4 in the lineup with Jensen, Partain, Brandner, and DenHartog. But after that it’s a lot of question marks. Kemmetmeuller hit 7 home runs but only hit .230. Lindner and Brandt both hit under .210 and started most of the year. And their catcher situation is a question mark.

In the circle, the pitching staff takes a step back. Sydney Smith wasn’t as successful at Minnesota as she was at LSU, but she was solid. Now the staff behind Fiser is a freshman from Canada and a mid major transfer.

Minnesota’s schedule is also harder in the Big10 this year. They play Ohio State, Illinois, and Wisconsin who all made the tournament last year. They also play both Northwestern and Michigan on the road.

I don’t know much about the incoming freshman for Minnesota and if they can make a difference.

Any update on this?  Looks like they picked up 2 catchers but for the 2020 season.  Fiser going to pitch to a walk on?
