Iowa State at Oklahoma softball game begins at Noon CST today.

It is 62 degrees with an 8 mph breeze in Norman, Oklahoma.
It's 33 degrees with an 8 mph breeze in Ames, Iowa.

Good move to bring the game to Norman.

Thx!  Hoping for better results than yesterday lol

She says OU is her favorite place to play because of the fans.

Sooners start Paige Parker.
I thought we might see Mariah Lopez start again today.

Cyclone's lead off batter, Sammy Williams hits an 0-2 pitch into the LC gap for a double.
The second batter hits a line drive into LC for a single and take second on Pendley's throw to the plate.
Iowa State up 1-0 after 2 batters.

Parker gets a K, a pop up to 3b, and a really nice diving catch in LF by Aviu.

This has devolved into a 10-U game, pitching-commandwise

Aviu's 3 run HR (batting 9th) puts the score at 7-1... still in the bottom of the first.

Sydney Romero, batting around .500 for the season, makes TWO outs in the first inning...
while the rest of her team scores 7 runs.

Fale Aviu looking really good on defense with two good catches early in this game.

Could that HR pitch to Shay have been more down the middle of the plate?
She smacked it good - for her third HR of the season.
Good to see her hitting the ball hard.

She struck out swinging in this at bat...
but I have to say, I really like seeing Kelsey Arnold batting from the right side.

Iowa State scored more runs on PP in the past two days than just about everyone else this season combined.

LOL. You're right.

Edit: Just to add; the Cyclones are a good-hitting team. They trailed O-State 4-1 in Stillwater in the sixth inning recently. Homered in the sixth, then smacked two more in the seventh to send the game to extras. Won it in the 12th. The Cowgirls haven't been the same since.

I actually did think they were going to be a force in the Big 12 this season. But I had no idea their pitching would be so bad. They've recruited some nice players, but they gotta get some arms. The conference needs OSU to be competitive with OU and Baylor.

OSU is rpi 30 which isn’t horrible but they should be around Baylor’s range. They have recruited well lately so maybe in a few years they can beef us up.

I would say we (ISU) have to potential to be a good hitting team.  The bats are doing better lately and Williams is an all-American caliber player at the plate.  We're too inconsistent to say “good-hitting” team though.  We have a couple players out for the year that really hurt us.

I can't criticize the hitting without including that pitching has been even more inconsistent.  DD was solid in that OSU game you referred to, but looked like a rec league pitcher yesterday.

Hopefully a little stability at HC position will help the team.  I was bummed to lose Trachsle, but it’s looking like we may have gotten the better deal in that situation.

So how's this? ISU can't hit jack, but the Cyclones have the potential to be a good hitting team.

LOL. JK

Truthfully, from the games I've seen (three, to be exact), pitching is a much bigger issue for the 'Clones – and, to a lesser degree, defense. Good luck to your team the rest of the way. Hope you can close strong and maybe have a shot at the playoffs.
