OK will UT score today?  The answer yesterday turned out to be no.   If they don't score they cannot win the game....

Hosfeld vs. Nelson today??  Or will it be Brombacher??

Go Gators!!

That's good as championships are won on the field. See Tenn 2007, UCLA 2006, Arizona 2004.

bruin - you were so right.  UT did score today.  Actually, today was a little more enjoyable as the game was competitive later in the game compared to the yesterday blowouts.  I was glad to the the Vols put up a little fight today.  Hosfeld looked better today so she's learning from the experience.

Go Gators!

That was a good win for the Gators today because of how it happened. They haven't trailed in a game since they lost to Washington and it was the first run they'd allowed in the last 9 SEC games, so it was nice to see how they responded to not being ahead early. The ump was terrible today, and not for both teams, but I digress. It was good to see the Gators adjust to the huge strike zone and finally put things together in the 4th and 5th. Stacey kept her composure as well, which you'd expect from her. That umpire was just awful. Can I say that enough? A win like this will help them more than blowout wins, to see that they will continue to battle and not let the score or whatever else affect them negatively.

All I can say is WOW.

The California Gator put a major whipping on the Vols.

Maybe we ALL knew this was coming by how the Vols performed in the game before the Gator match ups.

How easy was to beat the Vols?  Gators.

What is up with Tiffany DeFelice (TD)..??  Is she hurt again?  If so, that kid has had a tough time and I hate it for her.  Just noticed she wasn't in the line-up for the UT series this past weekend.  I hope she is OK.

Jessie - Your California Wildcats are struggling. The California Gators are much better this year.

It's her wrist again. No idea what her status is for the rest of the season, I'm not even sure the coaches know for sure. Florida's lineup is certainly less potent without her and Kim in there, but Moultrie and Sisco are doing pretty well and others are helping fill the void.

That is a shame - I hate it for that kid.  Hope she gets well soon though.  While Moultrie and Sisco will gain valuable experience now, it is a drop off at this point compared to DeFelice and Kimmie.  Could be interesting at some point unless those two step in and get something done.  Time will tell.

Actually, I think the Gators will be just fine.  If we can get KW and TD back, all the better.

This is a huge weekend coming up in G'ville.  Results will have a big impact on the outcome of the league.  All eyes will be on Gatorland.

Prediction:  Gators will sweeeeeeeep Alabama.
Rationale:  Bama will not be able to score off of the Nelson, Brombacher duo; and Bama's pitching will not be able to handle the Gators sticks.

Will the Gators run rule Alabama?

Any other thoughts?

Go Gators!

Gators1 - Whoa, not so quick.  UF is real good for sure, but Alabama isn't chopped liver.  Last I checked Bama was very competitive.  While you may well sweep them this weekend, I bet one or two of the games are pretty good ones.  In fact, if the Bama pitching is solid the games may be real competitive.  It certainly won't be a shocker if Alabama wins a game either.

 I agree.

Florida SWEEPs the TIDE.

Not so concern about it being competitive.
A win is desperately needed by Alabama.

The California Gators are on fire.
Worse time for the Tide to come in.

Try NOT to get too, too embarrassed.

Ahem.  I hope you all see the straw man argument the JW moron is concocting here...so when Alabama picks off one game against Florida (or more), JW can easily hop onto the "Florida is terrible!! they got beat at home!!" train of thought.

Isn't there a moderator who feels like banning this waste of space?

Gators destroy Alabama.

Alabama is embarrassed.

So, the Gators use the No.2 pitcher in order to get ready for CWS.

WRONG MOVE.

You need to crush them so, when you meet in CWS....they are already defeated.

Get it.

Mistake or NOT.

Was it a mistake for the Gators to go with the other pitcher?

Some says ..go with your ACE and destroy the team.

So, the next time, the teams meet - the game is already over before the first pitch.

Did the Gators give Bama HOPE?

Bad MOVE.

Hey, Jessie, do you always post without knowing what you're talking about? You do know Florida started Nelson today, right? She wasn't very effective, and her defense behind her let her down. They brought in Brombacher to relieve. Maybe if you actually paid attention to anything other than your stupidity, you might not look like such a fool. Give credit to Bama, they are a very good team, got the hits and took advantage of some Florida miscues and Dunne pitched a very good game, in spite of clearly not being at 100%.

Yesterday at 02:41 PM                 Hey, Jessie, do you always post without knowing what you're talking about? Fpitch9 - JW is an idiot - facts and logic do not apply to his thought process.  And, it especially does not apply to his posts.

I was just thinking today.  Our only 2 SEC losses the last two seasons (2008, 2009) came at the hands of Alabama and Kelsi Dunne.   A 1-0  loss last year in Tuscaloosa; and the 6-4 loss in Gainesville on Sunday.   Yes, we got to her and beat her as well, but Alabama and her pitching is the difference in a very long consecutive string of SEC wins and starting a new streak on Wednesday in Auburn.  We could have been 28-0 last season in the league, and minus Sunday's loss could have been 14-0 this season or sitting on 42 consecutive SEC wins.

Oh well, still much to play for and a lot of big wins ahead.

Go Gators!

gators1---great post. i was talking to an umpire this weekend about the streak that the gators have had going the last two years in SEC play. it is absolutely astounding. to have that type of dominance is definitely something that anyone (favorite college team allegiance aside) can't deny.

last year was a great 2-game midweek series between the gators and the tide. competition wise, crowd attendance and everything else. this year's weekend series seemed to be much of the same---just wish the first two games could have been a little closer! nelson and dunne are both fantastic pitchers. you can't ask for anything more!

I think that Florida is the best collegiate softball team in the nation, but that doesn't mean they will win the WCWS. When a team is faced with one loss and out, anything can happen on a given day.

JG - that is the good thing about how the NCAA post season works.  UF (and everyone else) must lose two games in the Regionals, SR's, or at the WCWS.  I suspect it will be very difficult for any team to beat UF twice (probably at home) in Regionals or SR's.  I guess anything can happen on the road.

At the WCWS, we'd have to get beat twice on our side of the bracket, OR lose 2 out of 3 in the finals.  Again, not that it can't happen, but it eliminates the one loss and out scenario that you referenced.  I like how that lines up for this current team.  Someone will have to beat us twice to knock us out.

Go Gators!

BigJoe - No doubt that Florida will be the best "team" going into post season play, but in even a double elimination (thanks Gator 1), a hot pitcher could knock them off. Gotta play them on the field.
P.S. - I'm glad it's double elimination. Who knocked off Florida twice last year?

No one beat them twice, but their 2 losses at the WCWS were to ULL, 3-2 in 8 innings and Texas A&M, 1-0 in 9.

Gators escape. In the brinks of lossing to in-state FSU.
A loss would of been embarrassing.

Gators used their other pitcher.

Brombacher gave up two home runs — matching her total this season — to allow FSU to climb back in to the game after UF took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning.

“It's one of the biggest games she's ever pitched in,” UF coach Tim Walton said. “I need her to get in that atmosphere. I wanted Stephanie to go the distance. For her first big, big, big start, I thought she pitched really well early and just didn't close it out.”

INJURY: Why play her? Why not get operated?

Tiffany DeFelice's left wrist, which required off-season surgery,..the lingering effects of extensor carpi ulnaris subluxation — a condition where a wrist tendon slides in and out of its groove.

Is it right to play her?

Lets see if LSU shows up.

I look for UF to run rule LSU. Only when the ace is pitching.

Can some one wake me up at the Semi's of the SEC tournament.
