but seriously, what can cause Ablan to regress to the point where she can hardly throw strikes. ill say this though, fico seems to have developed Brittany gray and really helped Chelsea Wilkinson her senior year.

Kind of typifies this gator team. They won’t slug you to death, but they will make you pay for free passes. Last 3 wins were walk of walk, walk off hr, walk off hbp.

LOL no. Those two were/are gamers who were smart enough to keep getting lessons elsewhere. Fico is doing NOTHING, and Lu needs to nip this QUICK.

I was about to post the same thing. Who does Georgia having coming in next year on the mound?

Good sportsmanship by the Georgia posters.  I know your team is better than shown in this game.  I wish you better luck in your next game.

These type absurd posts are why they don't let over-reactionary, emotional fans make decisions in NCAA athletic departments. You had the top pitcher in the country thru the first half of the season -- a pitcher who I GUARANTEE you were were screaming had not been "developed" earlier in her career.

To lose that pitcher and still make the WCWS is quite an accomplishment. The fact that Florida roughed up your remaining pitchers in the WCWS is just life ... not an indication that your pitching coach should be fired.

No offense, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what's going on. These kids look like they've been thrown in the deep end; no life jacket and no support, it's just sad. For us to have the offense we have, the pitching development is an obvious eye sore.

Change is needed, and I don't feel bad saying so.

I know recruiting ranks don't mean anything but.......

Flosoftball ranked Georgia's class 19

Extrainning Softball ranked Georgia's class 41

Its interesting, usually you can get a good read on who are really good players from the pack

We have six pitchers on staff and one of them, ONE has been developed further than what she was in HS. Spare me the emotion line-- this is very clearly an issue that Lu was hoping like hell wouldn't be exposed, and guess what... It was.

gotta give some credit to the fact that none of those pitchers had ever pitched on the stage before. also the defense made some unfortunate errors that kind of sealed their fate by taking all their momentum. although it was all about their pretty awful pitching

Looks like the #FireFico and #FireDobson will be steaming all summer lol

I don't know what Fico does exactly, but the pitchers are having a rough time it seems

Rolling my eyes. Your non-Gray pitchers won the regular season series vs Tenn, giving up 1 run in 2 games, won every series but 1 after Gray's injury including 2 of 3 over KY giving up 1 run in the 2 wins, won the series over Bama, won the regional, won your Super over Tenn in 2 games.

I can spot an angry, emotional fan when I read one.

Nothing against Fico but she had next to nothing to do with any success Wilkinson had. Thank Rick Pauly for most of that. And Gray, was a near physical wreck when she arrived on campus. She battled various health & physical stuff for 3 full years. When she finally got healthy this year, she blows out her arm.

I do agree there was an expectation she could whip at least a couple of the other 6 pitchers into game shape.

Let’s be honest, Gray has never been healthy. She’s borderline morbidly obese. She wasn’t meant to be a pitcher you could use virtually every game, which they did. And look what happened. Alvelo the same at Uw. Those girls need better conditioning. They’re out of shape. And when you’re out of shape your body breaks down when it’s put through the wringer.

Get out of here with that. She actually dropped weight and was in a lot better shape her senior year

Comments like that aren’t cool man

She did lose a lot of weight though, no question. It really paid off for her.

It’s not fat shaming and I do sincerely apologize if it came off that way. It’s more a concern for these girls when their playing days are done. Maybe she did drop weight, and I hope she continues to do so. But her body as it is now, wasn’t mean for the wear and tear pitching at this level puts you through. And she never stayed healthy for a full season, so ask why?

But you are correct, not being in correct physical shape can increase the chances of injury for sure. Definitely wasn’t healthy for her.

The key to pitching against Florida is to go RIGHT AFTER THEM and THROW A LOT OF STRIKES!!!

But teams are too scared to pitch strikes against the Gators because they are in fear they will get smacked, which is a false claim.

Ok, they did pitch strikes.

UGA pitchers walked 8 UF batters. The point made is definitely correct. UF is not a great hitting team. They were only 7th best in the SEC and have only 2 hitters with BA over .300. There is no reason for pitchers to be intimidated except when facing Lorenz. But they are, and that's to Florida's credit.

Great game by Alesha. What a winner and competitor. She comes back from giving up the HR to hit a 3 run blast herself and hold UGA to 1 run the rest of the game.

Anyone else feel like Brittany grays injury was due to her crushing weight and if she lost about 50 pounds she would still pitched her senior year and might even gotten a try out for a pro team?
