Consider me shocked that pitcher Cassidy Davis started game one today.  She has struggled mightily her first two seasons.

CD made it unscathed the first two innings, but in the third has walked two, giving up single and a wild pitch.  Her control was her issue the past two years.  Miraculously gets out of a bases loaded no out jam only giving up one run, 4-1 FSU.

Bilodeau made her first appearance today for FSU, as did Herzog(as a pitcher), the two combined for a five inning no hitter.  The level of competition jumps significantly next weekend.  Sherrill hit .615 on the weekend with two homers.

Two big wins today against great competition.  I missed the OSU game so I cannot comment on it, but the OU game was bizarre.  FSU is not a power hitting team, Mason is really the only pure power threat, yet today they hit five home runs against really good pitching.  It is great to see, but I do not think the power will be consistent, hope I am wrong.  Most importantly today, was the performance of Sandercock, she really settled down nicely after the dinger and showed promise.  Another tough day awaits tomorrow and anything can happen!

Did anyone ever find out who the grad assistant for FSU this season was?  Thanks in advance.

FSU looks reeeaaalllyyy good. Excited to play them twice. Wish we had a 3rd neutral site game like baseball does. Maybe in St. Pete next year? 😉

FSU looked like the best softball team in the country this weekend. 15 (I think) homers this weekend, against some top competition. Great weekend, looking forward to watching this season play out.

Great start Noles. I have been trying to convince my FSU friends to watch softball for a few years. They are coming around!

Ty - I am guessing that you are starting to realize that the Florida State team IS a power hitting team after all.
They looked to be, quite possibly, THE best offensive lineup in the country - during this tournament.
They have been VERY impressive.

Her performance in the Oklahoma-FSU game was THE difference in the game, in my view.
I was very surprised to see her shut down the Sooner bats the way she did.
She allowed just two singles and a HBP while getting the final 15 outs of that game.

Btw...  isn't it great to see Ty Cobb and Henry Aaron discussing college softball online...

Btw...  how about that CATCH by the FSU center fielder - to take away a game tying HR!!!
WOW!!
King's reaction to the catch was priceless.

Thanks gatorbob!  I am quite shocked at the start of this season!  It is the polar opposite of last years start.

Thanks for the kind words Henry.  I hope the power continues, but am not holding my breath.  Its a long season and I am so happy for the Noles, all the hard work they put in in the off season is paying dividends.

We all were skeptical about the pollsters putting FSU at 1, but rightfully so since they lost two All Americans in Hanson and Warren. However, FSU is on fire rn and they are a very very good team. They dominated this weekend and looked by far the best. All the teams had problems, but FSU looked the most polished out of all the teams. They executed very well. And they will only get better as the freshmen Herzog was out this weekend and she’s a very good player. King is starting to elevate herself from a pitcher who’s really good to one of the top pitchers in college softball. Sydney Sherill has gone from sidekick to Warren into a monster. She scares me lol. All those doubles from last year will start to turn into Homeruns. Wow FSU is scary

FSU had one of the most impressive, dominant weeks in memory. They went 6-0, beat OU and Tenn by 3 runs each, run ruled LSU. It will be a joke if voters in the USA Softball poll continue to vote UCLA #1 over FSU

I'm surprised that none of UCLA's games were televised. I was impressed with how FSU looked. They were well rounded.

Was Herzog out to injury or did she just get beat out after her rough start at the plate last week? I saw her dressed out in the dugout so I’m thinking she is just doing some time behind those upperclassmen in the outfield. She has had 6 at bats and struck out in 3 of them. I’m not sure that Casas, Mason or Morgan lose their starting position right now.

She hurt her lower right leg and is in a boot. I do not know the specific injury, hoping its not major.

Apparently one team declined to shake hands with FSU after the game was over down in Clearwater, anyone know who it was?

I'd say there is a good chance they will be 24-0.
Then they will have three games with Arizona followed by three more with Notre Dame.
If they can win all six of those... then they would likely stay undefeated until they play Florida.
They play Florida twice this season.
If they can whip Arizona three straight... and knock off Notre Dame three times...
it could be just Florida to keep them from running the table.

Anyone want to bet on FSU going undefeated in the regular season...

Not likely with five games with Arizona & Florida...  but ya never know...

King beat O'Toole in the Nutter in a close game.
McQuillin should get two chances against the Seminoles.
