Ummmmmmm, that took a hard left didn't it?  Best I can tell I didn't discuss the electoral college.  I'm well aware of how it works.  I didn't make a comment on whether I think it's successful or not.  Personally I'm fine with the EC - even if it does make me voting a useless task.

Also, neither did I make a statement on my opinion of the Presidency.  All I did was state I love when people decide they want to "drop" the other side of a discussion to make sure all the facts sway in their favor, and it's even more funny to me when it doesn't matter in the slightest.

  1. Arioto - 17
  2. Spaulding - 14
I love watching the top two on that RBI list.
Ariota is such a great hitter... and I love Spaulding at bat and in the field.

Btw... what kind of loophole could possibly get Ariota 4 years at Alabama..?
I think you might need some kind of time machine - or alternate universe.

I guess she could go there for 4 years as a coach.

I don't know.  Find one!  I personally think having Diane Ninemire as a coach should give her that loophole. [tongue]

You may be "directionally" challenged. It was actually a right turn. LOL

Oh come on, you know I put left turn for a reason ... and it isn't political.

Well... Diane Ninemire had taken her team to the WCWS seven consecutive years from 1999 through 2005 - when Ariota was being recruited by her. And they had a run of three straight seasons where they finished in the final top two teams (with a title in 2002, 2nd in 2003 & 2nd in 2004). So it's understandable why she chose to go there.

And Ninemire did get her team to the WCWS in two of the five seasons when Ariota was with California.
California went 58-7 in her senior year - and finished third at the WCWS.

Valerie put up some tremendous stats in her senior season... both with the bat - and pitching:

G    AB   H  2B  3B  HR  EBH   BB  HB  SO  SB  CS   R  RBI     BA   OBP    SLG     OPS
65  137  50   6    0   23   29    94    5   24    5    0   65  60   .365  .626  .912  1.538

G   GS       IP    ER   ERA    H  2B  3B  HR  EBH  HB  BB    SO    W-L
24   24   127.0   24  1.32   92   9    3    1    13     5   33   155   20-3

Opposing teams walked her 94 times!  Add her 5 HBP to that total and she had 99 free bases!

And she only gave up ONE HR in 127 IP as a pitcher in her senior year!

So literal.  But how do you not get Cal to the WCWS with Jolene Henderson in the circle?

Cal went to the WCWS twice with Jolene Henderson in the circle (they finished 5th in 2011, they finished 3rd in 2012).

In 2012 they had two pitchers.  Henderson (a junior) had a 1.29 ERA in 282.1 IP, with a 37-4 W-L record...
and Ariota (a senior) had a 1.32 ERA in 127.0 IP, with a 20-3 W-L record.

They did not make it in Jolene's senior year (2013)... but she didn't have any help in the circle.
While Henderson went 31-11 with a 1.22 ERA in 286.2 IP...
the other three pitchers they tried that season - finished 6-8 with a 6.50 ERA in 94 IP.
