I'd go full offense, Matthews over Voss even though Voss is having a good year.

  3. Roberts, C/DP (R) - 1.100 OPS

Glad that CTW is rewarding Caraway instead of the lineups above.

Yeah they went with the ultra defense, Caraway, Voss and Sipos. Lugo is a strikeout+groundball pitcher.

I was hoping Sipos would break out just now and knock some runs in. Sigh.

Eye of the beholder. I didn't see it like that at all. She's way inside to left handers to my eyes.

Lugo at least has kept the UCLA hitters a little off-balance.  Much better job than Barnhill the other night.  Just can't overpower everyone.

who calls pitches for Garcia? It appears nobody as catcher doesn't look to get signs from anywhere.

An analyst just called the Bruin at first running to second on the grounder a 'heads-up running play'

I saw an interview with KIP last year where she said they like to have the catcher do it.

In the end, pitching will not be Florida's problem.  They have to figure out how to score against quality opposition.

I think more specifically scoring earlier will be the key. They're so spoiled from the Barnhill-Gourley-Ocasio years where those 3 basically just put up zeros game after game after game or at least zeros deep into the game. Florida's hitters exhausted the opposing pitcher by not picking up their bat, fouling off a ton of pitches, setting school records in walks and HBPs, etc. Meanwhile, Florida's pitchers dominated inning after inning. So the hitters just had to wait until the opposing pitcher's arm fell off. It was a good formula. [crazy]

Walton's got to stop f-ing around - put Lorenz back in the OF, put someone who can hit at* 3rd, pinch hit for your worst hitter with a RISP against one of the best pitchers in the country, etc.

He sort of settles on a starting lineup pretty early in the season and rarely changes.  Everyone on the bench then just plays a PH or PR role.  I wish he would use the bench more this early to see who can actually hit and then settle on a starting group right before SEC play.  But this process has worked for him in the past.

Got to shake up the Florida lineup.  Need a different 3B for sure.  Sipos is just not good enough in the box.  Probably need to sit Voss too.  She is what she is a .250 career part-time player.  Just not an everyday player.   I think you might even have to settle on 1 catcher (Lindaman) and platoon the DP spot to find someone that will hit good pitching.

Props to UCLA. They're really good. Hopefully, they get their poison pill kryptonite 15 or 16 seed in LA for Supers lol.

Final line for our pitchers. Looks pretty opposite of expectations:

Chronister - 4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 HBP
Lugo - 4 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Farley - 2.1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
Barnhill - 2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

5.92 ERA compared to the 0.54 that UCLA's pitchers put up.

Lets see how the Gators respond from getting owned for 14 innings when they take on Washington tonight.

Agree wholeheartedly on 3B. Lindsey should get the reps ASAP.

Lindaman can be a full-time catcher but Roberts has been clutch this year so there's no reason for that based off one game. Didn't she homer off of Garcia in OKC too? Don't want to overextend Lindaman defensively.

I've said since Caraway transferred that she should have a permanent spot in the outfield, whether that's LF or CF.

If Matthews struggles (she's so clutch and calm I think she should always be in the lineup), Lorenz plays 1B. If Matthews doesn't struggle, Lorenz is in LF, Caraway in CF and Voss sits.

Voss and Sipos can be late game subs AFTER we have a lead. Voss isn't helpless at the plate however. She's grown a lot there.

What offense? There is no offense!

In 4 games we've played 29 innings, scored 4 runs (of which 2 were gifts), have 21 hits but 27 LOB that shows the hits are not coming at the right time. That said, the 2 runs scored against Oregon came by virtue of two out hitting which is a plus. Only 1 error (that coming today) in the 4 games is also good.

So, in summary averaging 1 run on 5.25 hits and almost 7 LOB for the tournament is NOT good any way you care to look at it. Albeit it has come against top tier competition but my personal expectation is for something considerably better. We are definitely under-achieving in Cali. Is it a time zone funk? Tennessee and Auburn seem to be doing well but against the likes of UT San Antonio and Loyola Marymount. BTW, who's idea was it for UF to play UCLA twice? No other team faces UCLA twice. BTW, they (UCLA) are a helluva good team even without Garcia.

Whatever the reason for the poor showing might be it's up to Coach Walton and his staff to get it corrected...and fast! Let's see what happens vs a Top 5/6 Washington tonight.

I think this group has some issues with "Performance anxiety" in the batter's box.....They just need to take a deep breath and see the ball...Something that they are not doing now....Which brings me to the other issue at hand...."The helmets that the Gator batter's wear"...The facemask does not give a lot of area for vision...This is critical for seeing the ball as it comes in...I have seen other teams where their facemask, gives a lot, and I mean a lot of vision area, so you can track the ball, and see it,  as it comes to the plate....Walton needs to get this fixed as soon as possible....No need to hinder the vision of the batters...

Maybe it’s just me but I’ve noticed more and more this season that Florida batters are being extremely passive in their at-bats, especially against UCLA. Which I believe has worked for them in the past, where they able to either get a hit by pitch or draw walk. However that really only works when you’re pitching staff is completely dominant. Where you able to depend on your pitching to hold off your opponent until you’re able to string some walks and hits together. It doesn’t really work when your opponent is highly aggressive and then puts the pressure right back on you. And then you find that they’re all swinging for the fences and striking out on pitches a foot above their heads. Robert is a pretty example of this with five strikeouts over six at-bat, against UCLA, plus Hoover and Matthew with multiple strikeouts only adds to the issue.
