I would have thought Kelsey oh would get the start game 2 tomorrow. She's throwing a great game but does she get the start in less than 24 hours? Why was cayla pulled?

Yes she has great potential! Unfortunately we will probably start Raley tmrw and she is less than fortunate in the circle

She can and I heard she chose South Carolina over Florida. I can't wait to see how she develops over her career.

I think she actually was committed to Boston College, and changed to South Carolina.

As a general rule, I doubt anyone would willingly choose South Carolina over Florida - sans UF asking them to be a walk on.

Pretty nice weekend for Florida to sweep the than number 3 in the conference standings South Carolina to give Florida some confidence and boost their RPI. I think today's line up flows a little bit better than ones prior.

Does this pitching rotation for the coming games seem feasible? Goal would be to get Barnhill to pitch against FSU without being jammed between Miss State and LSU games.

FAMU - Lugo
MSU - Ocasio
MSU - Barnhill
MSU - Ocasio
FSU - Barnhill
LSU - Barnhill
LSU - Ocasio
LSU - Barnhill

OR

FAMU - Ocasio or Lugo
MSU - Barnhill
MSU - Ocasio
MSU - Barnhill
FSU - Barnhill
LSU - Ocasio
LSU - Barnhill
LSU - Ocasio

LSU's relatively weaker offense gives us a little more wiggle room to throw Ocasio twice and I know she'd step up in a big series like that. Could be good for her confidence going into postseason.

As if a 2 hitter with 10k against #3 team (in conference) is a confidence killer. And Ocasio will pitch game 2 vs LSU. Senior day.

Didn't say this weekend wasn't a confidence booster. But she's taken 3 losses (largely not her fault) in one week so a little extra work in big spots couldn't hurt.

Good point on senior day. I expect we see Option 1 unless Walton wants to throw Barnhill 3 times in 5 days against Top 25 competition. Wouldn't be a bad way to prep for OKC however.

What about Mizzou, they are a pretty nice hitting team as they beat Auburn twice, Georgia, Arkansas...

There's no midweek game against a Top 10 team or any midweek game at all for that matter prior to Mizzou.

So, Barnhill-Ocasio-Barnhill

If history is any indicator, that may be the only times those two pitch at Mizzou this season.

As in throw in the towel at the SEC tournament? I have a feeling Florida has extra motivation to go deep in the tournament to get the highest NCAA seed possible.

#1 seed not only isn't guaranteed like years past, but not possible. Playing for a strong #2-#4 seed is the goal at this point.

That's my guess. Or Chronister. He added this game a few weeks ago likely for this very reason.

speaking of chronister
Do you see chronister pitching more next year with the departure of ocasio or do you think she will transfer with the two new pitchers coming in, plus having a senior in Kelly and a sophomore in lugo who seems to have gotten the ball more times that she has this season?

Yeah, I didn't quite understand either.  Is the implication that we won't even make the tournament to face Missouri again?  Which, [confused]huh?  That isn't going to happen barring some total breakdown.  It's more likely that Missouri won't make it.

I would love to see this team make a deeper run in the SEC tournament than in years past, but no big deal if they don't.  Not winning or exiting early hasn't meant anything in terms of post-season success based on recent history.

I totally expect to see Lugo start tomorrow.  Maybe split some time with Chronister.  The offense should be able to score enough runs to give Kelly and Lele a rest.

We'll see how this finish goes.... but there is a chance that if they pull their usual hijinks, they could get a 9 slot. Maybe out of principle. lol

What "hijinks" are being referred to here?  I honestly don't know . . .

Wouldn't throwing in the towel on the tournament tanking enough to not even make it there mean giving up on the regular season championship?  I can't see them doing that as it has been shown to be important to them in the past.

I think the tournament is important to them to tbh.  I don't think anyone is happy that they haven't been able to as national champions/regular season champions/#1 team in the country win the tournament in recent years.  It's just been fortunate for them that it hasn't been a marker for their success past the tournament.  2016 would be the obvious exception.

I don't think anyone's saying they aren't going to make the SEC tournament. Actually, I believe it's mathematically impossible for them to not make it.

Doing poorly in the SEC tournament this year could potentially impact their potential for NCAA success because they have the opportunity to play for a higher seed. 2015-2017 they were going to be #1 NCAA seed going into the SEC tourney regardless of what occurred. 2013 they earned the #2 seed in NCAAs by winning the tournament, in a year they weren't necessarily the best team in the SEC even tho they were reg season champs.

Since they last won the SEC tournament in 2013, Florida has played 6 games in the tourney and gone 2-4:

2014:
0-2 (2 hits)
2015:
10-1 (9 hits)
1-2 (3 hits)
2016:
1-0 (4 hits)
1-2 (5 hits)
2017:
0-2 (2 hits)

These are hijinks coming from a team with 3 WCWS finalist appearances and 2 national championships in that span.

Taking out the Carolina game in 2015: In 5 games they've been shutout twice, scored 3 runs total, averaged a little over 3 hits/game. [mad][confused][rolleyes][crazy]

Not that the #1 seed has been a blessing for Florida with the #16 seed kryptonite poison pills the last 2 years.

I'd prefer the #13-#15 seed coming to town the last few years.

Ok, that makes sense.  It's just, to me, "hijinks" implies something intentionally done or as if they were/are goofing off/not taking it seriously and I don't see how their run of ineptitude at the tournament could result from either of those things.  There's, especially recently, been this pressure for them to win the tournament, so maybe they don't deal with that particularly well.  Perhaps they'll perform better this year as everyone seems to think Florida is so "down" this year compared to others.  I personally don't think it's so dire as some make it out to be, but time will tell.
