Was wondering when he would get around to stacking Lorenz and KK.... Too easy to play checkers with their major-threat bats when separated....imo

Little surprised Walton called it with Wheaton...Wheaton is not fast but that is what hustle gets you...Good stuff from Wheaton...Safe and a run...

Gourley with a wicked strike out in the 6th inning...The SC batter was just like "what just happened?"...

Gourley wasn't at her best, I think she almost doubled her season total for walks, but she was nasty once a runner got on base. Timely hitting, some good base running, good win on the road to start the series.

Great effort all around from the gators. I like how both games florda scored first and never looked back. We may see Sophia in the lead off from now on. I love how the gators made adjustments against cayla and scored 5 runs off of her. Not to get ahead of myself but I hope this momentum continues into the auburn series next weekend. It'll probably be ocasio vs bleu tomorrow.

Looks very balanced when they're going well.  Reynoso is super consistent and really sets the tone.  I'd bet the farm she'll be leading off the rest of the year.  And now that Dewitt has found her stroke, the lineup is shaping up nicely with Lorenz 3rd, KK 4th and 5-8 will depend on who's hot.  But interchanging Roberts, Herndon, and Ocasio looks to be the formula with Hoover set at 3rd base and McLean hitting 9th.

Granted South Carolina doesn't have the best pitching so it's hard to gage. I think we'll see how this ( if it stays) line up does vs the auburn pitching staff

And I'll give you Carlson as a nice pitcher, but you think they're that much better than USC?   I can see LSU or Alabama.

In terms of era yes. I'm not sure offensively because I dint know who auburn has faced besides Oklahoma. But in anything you don't know how the game will go until it's played.

Nice to see Dewitt, Hoover and janelle* getting their grooves back. I like Sophia leading off I think she is a true spark plus for this team.
*i know janelle only had 1 hit in the series but hit a hot of hard hit balls unfortunately right at fielders.

I was a little surprised by Gourley starting, but maybe Walton thought she needed the work....Expected to see Ocasio and then Chronister coming in the later innings...Well, it all worked out...I think it was the 1st inning, the SC pitcher came in High and Tight on Dewitt. DeWitt gave her "The look"...SoRey is a gamer...

Reynoso was really an unknown (at least to me) coming into this season, but has really turned out to exceed all expectations.  Her fielding has been great (perfect to be exact), and her offense is just what the Gators needed this year.   She has power, speed, has base running sense, and is made for lead off.  Offensively she reminds me of Stewart in her first two years, and with a better glove, arm, and range.

I thought Roberts started the year pretty well, but seemed to struggle behind the plate (at least today), and her offense has tapered off.  I hope she picks up her game.

Barnhill continues to impress.  Hopefully her control continues, altho it seemed that she lost concentration on her no-hit bid.

All in all a good series.  I hope we can continue against AU.

So do you think chronister will start Vs usf to get more innings in her? I highly doubt ( but could be wrong) that she'll pitch against auburn. Speaking of auburn I'm wondering a few things going into the series next weekend
1.what type of adjustments will Florida make going against Carlson?
2. how will Kelly's confidence level be when pitching to auburn? Will she still be almost umhittable?
3. Can she keep the ball in the park?
4. Can the pitchers keep up their dominance?
5. Will the offense continue to be hot?

Let me start by saying Walton surprised me by not starting Ocasio in USC game 3.  At this point I'm thinkin' Walton is perhaps lightening the pitching load on Ocasio so she can give offense and defense a little more focus.  (Which I have no problem, given UF's woes with offense over the past 2 years.)

With Barnhill's control improvement, I think Walton thinks Gourley and Barnhill can handle a 3 game series (1a & 1b).  I think Chronister's pitching opportunities this year will be cherry picked to break her in for entry into the rotation next year.  While I think Ocasio could be 1c, I believe she will be available for relief work and perhaps will start for critical series (like AU), especially if DG or KB doesn't have a good showing.

I think AU's pitching is a cut above USC's, so I am not expecting a USC-type Gator offensive showing (but I can hope!)

Even tho AU rocked KB last year, this year she appears to me to be mentally better prepared and her control is much better from what I've seen so far.  I am somewhat puzzled by AU's lack of offense this year.  I hope the Gator softball team does not pull the Gator baseball team's performance against AU.

Hoping the baseball's team's performance motivates the softball team to earn a sweep instead of get swept. The baseball team can't hit a life size orca pinata right now.

I expected Ocasio to get used less frequently based off her increased responsibilities on offense and defense and from I understood of Barnhill's improvement. However, I just did not expect it to be as few innings, but I do like how Gourley and Barnhill have an equal number of innings so far. I also don't mind a First Team AA pitcher being our 3rd option in the circle. [cool]

How many teams in NCAA softball history can say they had a 1st team AA pitcher who's won a game in the champ series as their everyday right fielder? Spoiled. [biggrin]

Hopefully the offense from Judi Garman, Missouri, NDSU and last weekend can continue this week. I feel like USF's pitching woes gives us a chance to keep the bats hot going into this weekend. I'm also not sold on Carlson and Martin's ability to produce at the level they have against SEC opponents away from home, but they'll probably make me eat my words.

Sighs I have no idea what's going on with the baseball team. That being said I don't see a auburn sweep (unless uf crashes and burns) the pitching has been superb and offense has been very solid as of late. I don't know if we can sweep but I think we take the series.

That being said we won't score 29 runs in this series
It'll be 1-4 run games I believe

Why was 1 a surprise?  That seemed like the easiest answer.

I figured 4 would be a trick question once she was included.

For me, when I was just guessing, 5 was the most difficult.
