Miss those great and tasty patat met mayonnaise.

Lindsey Meadows (Tex Town Tigers) 11 K's, 2 hits in 8 nnings

Terrasvogels won in the bottom of the 8th with a squeeze bunt 1-0.

These 2 teams square off for a doubleheader on Saturday.  TTT is now 18-7 and Terrasvogels 23-2.

TTT hitters made a lot of contact but found gloves of the opponent.

Monti:  Losing with a 2 hitter and 11 K's really hurts.  Knowing your competition must give you confidence heading into playoffs though.  Go get 'em (TT) Tiger.

It will be a challenging weekend for Tex Town Tigers because the CF has been hit with a 4 game suspension and a starting OF is currently with the Dutch 18 and under team playing in the Kingdom Games (Aruba, Antilles and Dutch Team) in the west of Holland. She should be back in time to play against top ranked Terrasvogels.

We will face the Oregon State product Ta'Tyana McElroy (http://www.osubeavers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=24972&SPID=1963&DB_OEM_ID=4700&ATCLID=130252)

Today in Enschede the ladies from Tes Town Tigers grew a lot!  They beat Judith van Kampen (Nat. Team Pitcher) 2-0 in the opener and Ta'Tyana McElroy (Oregon State) 3-0 in the second one...

Road to the Holland Series
1. Terrasvogels 24-4
2. Tex Town Tigers 20-7
3. Haarlem Sparks 19-8
4. Twins 14-11

It sure will be an interesting finish!!!!

Tiger, as it stands now, who will TTT face in the playoffs and how do you feel about the team you will face? Will 1 play 4 and 2 play 3?

As of right now we would play Haarlem Sparks the 2006 champions.  They have the only unbeaten pitcher in Holland and she pitched them to the title last year.  We have beaten Sparks 3 out of 5 games this year.  They are an older team with good experience.  They have 5-6 National Team players.  TTT is a younger, quicker more athletic team with some power.  It will be a very interesting playoffs for all.

It is 1 vs.4 and 2 vs. 3 in a best of 5 series.  The Holland Series is the same best out of 5.

Tex Town Tigers continued with their 21st vistory of the season.  This is a record number of victories (in the top division) for this club in it's 40 year history.

TTT won on the road 6-1 over the Euro Stars featuring a couple of National Team players.  Lindsey Meadows had another outstanding perofrmance striking out 7 batters.  The 1 run scored by an error.

TTT is still without the starting CF for 1 more game while she completes her 4 game suspension.  Guess she is not needed in the starting line-up since TTT has won 3 in a row!

TTT travels back to Rotterdam on Saturday for a double with the same team.

Last spot is between Twins and Euro Stars.

On a warm sunny day today, the Tex Town Tigers got 2 from the Euro Stars. In the opener Lindsey Meadows won it 10-3, helping herself with a HR. In the 2nd game Anna-Be Bartels won 12-3 with HR's from Saskia Kosterink and Britt Vonk.

TTT now has a club record of 8 HR's on the season while playing in the Top Division.

HR's by Players               Bat
Sas Kosterink 2          (34/27 TPS Nexus)
Lindsey Meadows 2    (34/26 TPS Nexus)
Britt Vonk 2               (34/26 TPS Nexus)
Nat Timmermans 1     (34/26 TPS Cataylst)
Merel Oosterveld 1      (34/26 TPS Nexus)

TPS bats and good linear to rotational hitting mechanics work!

Just another update from Enschede, Holland. The 2nd place TTT girls had a nice BBQ lastnight, I talked with most of the team about how they have grown physically and mentally since I have arrived this year. They now react very quickly and take advantage of miscues by the opponents. They keep running hard around the bases until they are stopped by their coach instead of the coach yelling at the to run. All of the players with good speed now read the defense and see the chance to bunt for a base hit. They see how to take 2 bases on a Sac Bunt and also can get good timing to steal more bases.

Statement from the opposing coach
"Those are not the same girls anymore that are timid and allow other teams to control the game, they come out aggressive and play hard Softball"

This growth is really great to see how a group of 16 girls can grow in 7 months. They don't mind putting in the hours and hard work to be at the top of Dutch Softball.  (90 minute speed/agility trainings, Core Strength Program, Body Combat, Yoga, 2.5 hour hitting circiuts and team practices have all played a key role in the success of the the team in 2007)  It makes me want to spend 2008 here, but I am not sure where I will be coaching next year.

"You are coming back next year, right...?" "Not going to leave us....?" said a key young player who turned down the chance to go play at Central AZ JC in 2008.

The special bond you develop as a coach with the players in foreign country is great. It is the giving of the gift of Softball to them!

I told them I will stay here to win the Holland Series and European Cup with them, then I will move on.

Updated Dutch Standings through Sunday. Each team will finish with 35 games played. Then there will be the European Cup's and then there will be the playoffs and Holland Series.

I am predicting that the Sparks will beat Terrasvogels twice making it a 1 game difference in the top 3 teams. Terrasvogels will be missing 4 players when the those 2 teams play dur to a wedding......

                                   GM'S    W     L     RUNS        RUNS ALLOWED

Are the TPS Nexus allowed in Holland ?  because it is on the ASA Non-Approved Bat List.

Holland and every other country internationally plays under ISF bat rules....  Why in the world would someone outside the US follow ASA rules.....

There is a ASA approved Nexus......

We beat Twins (#4 Team) 5-2, pretty easy game.  Went up 5-0 in the 4th and then had a couple defensuve miscues and allowed 2 runs.  Lindsey Meadows tossed another 11 K performance.

All is the same in the top 4 teams.  Sparks should beat Terrasvogels twice this Saturday.

We have 2 road games against Centrals (#7) and finish the season at home twice aginst Twins.

In the 1st game today against Centrals, German player Breedge Quinn led off the game with a HR off American pitcher Abigail Harter.  TTT would go on to win 7-0 in 5 innings.  LIndsey meadows struck out 10 Cantrals batters on her way to a 1 hitter.

Everyday LF'er Eva de Bruin was hit in the jaw with a thrown ball when the day got started.  TTT was 1 player down then.  In the 2nd game 1B, Nadine Marinus broke her hand trying to make a spectaular diving play on a bunt.

In the 2nd game TTT lost 2-1.......

The youth and inexperince showed today in the 2nd game....

Sparks beat league leader Terrasvogels twice, putting TTT and Sparks tied for 2nd....  TTT wins the tie breaker by beating Sparks 3 of out 5 games this year.

On the last of the regular season of Dutch Softball somethings happened! Tex Town Tigers put up a 3 HR's performance in the 1st game. But before that Breedge Quinn led off the game with a triple and then 2 HR's by Saskia Kosterink and 1 by Lindsey Meadows. TTT had a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st before an out was made. The game ended in 5 innings 11-3........

TTT dropped the 2nd game 6-3........ It is amazing how a young team can just go out and not be able to get focused to finish strong. From the mental aspect whent he team goes out and beats the team by mercy rule they just go out and play dead.....

It does not help the team mentally when a .400 hitter had gone to the USA for school and then 2 key starters are on the bench with injuries.....

It is a very good learning experience.... The team will enjoy a few days off to relax and gather themselves before going out to battle their way to the Holland Series!

Final Standings
1. Terrasvogels 29-6
2. Haarlem Sparks 27-8
3. Tex Town Tigers 26-9
4. Twins 16-19
5. Dsc '74 16-19
6. Euro Stars 14-21
7. Centrals 8-27
8. Amsterdam Pirates 4-31

There was a big success this year at TTT offensively...  1 HR in 2006 and now a league leading 12 in 2007.  12 SB's in '06 and 40 in 2007.  96 runs scored in '06 and reaching 183 runs scored in 2007.

Thanks to everyone who supports Softball and the development!  Thanks JG and Dutch!

Also a big thanks to Howard C and Michael B for assisting me through my growth process as a coach!

The success of this years team at Tex Town Tigers has made me feel really good about the ability for growth in European Softball.  It has also helped me grow as a person and as a coach.  It is good when players and coaches grow together.

I have had the chance to spend some time with a German team teaching them some principles of hitting and conditioning.  It was enjoyable and I have thoughts about making it my next coaching stop after I am finished in Holland.

The team decided not to let any of our players participate in the Euro Cup's.  The reason is the risk of injury.  We started the year with 16 players, now we are down to 13 and only 11 who are 100% healthy today.

This week there is no Softball Practice.  We have 2 days of fitness training in the gym and resume Softball activities on Monday with a hitting session, Tuesday will be fielding work and then another hitting session on Thursday to prepare for games Friday, Sat and Sun against a tough opponent Haarlem Sparks.

5 games against Sparks this season

Sparks      won     4-2
Sparks      won     1-0 (8 Inn)
Tex Town  won     8-5
Tex Town  won     4-2
Tex Town  won     5-4
