Can someone tell me how to get an opportunity to play in either the Dutch league or the Italian league in the Summer?  My daughter is a senior at Charlotte, winding up a great D1 career and would like to play in Europe this summer.  Should she try to contact the coaches on her own, or does she need a reference?  Does she need to rely on her coach or other players to hook her up?  Is there a website(s) that has information?  Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The website Eurosoftball is closed, don't know why.An other opportunity is the ISF-website(http://www.isfsoftball.org/)
and go to the message board. She can contact coaches from teams, but you have to know the names of coaches,or teams.
In the Netherlands almost every club has a website. You can find them over here(http://www.knbsb.nl/nw/index.php)go to
Verenigingen(clubs).
Are these the only 2 countries she wants to play.
Good luck by finding a team.If you have any question just ask or PM me.

My daughter played for Olympia in the Netherlands in 2011 and loved it.  Her coach was Caroline Powell.  I am sure you can contact her and she might be able to help.  If you are interested I will try to get her contact information for you.

Thanks SmokinJoe and Number20sMom.  Those aren't the only countries that she would play, they are just the 2 she has heard about from teammates. Two of her former teammates played in the Dutch league and another played in Italy.  From my research so far, those look like the best options, but she doesn't really have a preference.  However, I would prefer that she go somewhere that other girls have had good experiences and recommend.

I received a reply from Monti Brunt who I think is "dutchtiger", and I sent her resume to him.  Hopefully, he can help hook her up with the Dutch league, but I will check the other avenues as well.  I would appreciate Caroline Powell's contact info if it is ok.  She has asked her former teammates for contact info, but hasn't received anything yet.

Number20sMom - What time of year did your daughter initiate contact?  Is this a good time to start contacting coaches?  Is it too early or too late for next summer?  Also, did they set her up with a job of any kind, or were any of her expenses covered?

Thanks again for your help.

Hi, my DD was contacted by her college coach after she had graduated (I guess Caroline contacted the coach) and was working at a local comm. college.  She went over in Feb  and her expenses were covered.  She did not work while there because she did not have a work visa.  She helped coach the City of Haarlems junior team.  Her experience was very very positive.  She was treated great and would go back in a minute but adulthood called and she had to get a REAL JOB!  I will try to get Caroline's info and send it in a PM to you.  Hope she finds a place to play!
