Today we got 2 victory's (2-1 & 6-5) from the Centrals featuring American pitcher Candice Freel (formerly of FAU and Philadelphia Force)

We had a full team today with the addition of the 2 players back from the US. It feels good to coach a team with 16 players ready and able to perform.

Lindsey Meadows (Louisiana Tech) got the Victory in GM#1 and the Save in GM#2....

After a record setting 1st half of the season the Tex Town Tigers team should keep improving in the 2nd half of the season.

There is one big problem to be fixed and that is the exactly 100 runners that have been left on base.

The team is sitting on a .325 batting avg, with 3 players hitting .400. The team has 3 HR's, 25 SB's, 10 doubles and 13 triples.

Pitching wise Lindsey Meadows has recorded 78 K's and has a 0.87 ERA in 65 innings of work.

The team is sitting on a .940 fielding %, the team goal was to be at .950

So i read all your post and you are very good in talking you are the next coach from team USA i think.

You forgot to tell that you win most of the games because errors from the other teams not because you learn your girls the best softball i saw them a couple games and they are not better then in 2006.

I saw you coaching and everybody talk ...... about your outfit and your way of coaching .

Hope you will be dressed better and show more respect for the other teams.

I don´t understand these kind of posts.
Sorry, but dutchtiger obviously spends his time writing posts in this forum. He therefore presents European Softball to an interested community of people in the US who love our game.

Like all the other European who read and seldom write in this forum I have to ask myself why I don´t regulary update this community about Softball in Europe in my own thread.

Dutchtiger is the first to write about the insides of European club teams. He may not be nice to other teams with the words he is choosing. He may not be objective in the way he perceives the success of his team...

BUT

from my point of view (German who knows Enschede very well since the European Championship 2000):
The Tex Town Tigers are THE strong developing team in the Netherlands.
With dutchtiger they found a new coach for 2007 being able to turn the TTT into a contender for the Dutch championship.

And I don´t know: but one team always wins because of the errors of the other team. You may leave 10 runner on base, do some fielding errors, give up walks or do whatever to help the other team win... On the other hand the winning team always has to be able to make use of these errors otherwise the other team will win because of you being unable to make use of these errors...

In other words: if you think that Dutchtiger presents a lopsided view of the Dutch softball feel free to open your own thread and present your point of view.

Finally I can only say that I like to read the stuff that dutchtiger presents in this forum and I like to be updated on the Dutch softball like that (I would appreciate more and different views on that for sure  but that is up to other than dutchtiger).

That is a funny post by DUTCH... Never have I ever hinted to want to coach the USA Team...  The post makes me smile!

As far as coaching attire, well black shorts with a t-shirt that represents the team I coach. Maybe if it is cold then i put on our team jacket. Pretty much what every coach would wear in the worl dof softball.... (Sorry don't know how to post a picture)

I respect everyone who works to better softball!

Everyone makes errors, we lost 5 games because of errors, every team in Holland makes errors.... Every team in the world makes errors....

The coaching is what Holland and the rest of the world needs. I am only here to make the game better.

If you don't think the team is better then you need to learn some things about softball.

My approach is obviously different than most Dutch coaches and people in the game since I am not from here and came here from China. Coaching is what I do and not out on the field to make friends with everyone. I was hired to improve the team and win games.... Enough said, it is happening!

In the European Championships only 2 Dutch League players hit homeruns Breedge Quinn and Saskia Kosterink both from Tex Town Tigers.

Saskia also leads her Dutch Team with 4 triples, 9 RBI's and is batting .458.

Breedge leads her German Team with 2 triples, 2 doubles, 6 RBI's and is hitting .471.

Best Hitter of the European Championships came from the Tex Town Tigers Team, Breedge Quinn the CF and leadoff hitter of the German Team. She hit .526 for the tournament.

Saskia Kosterink (leadoff for the Dutch) also from TTT was the Best Outfielder who batted .419.

It feels great to be the coach of 2 fine players who work hard to prepare for a big event. To have 2 top European players come from the same club team means a lot!

In the Netherlands 8-2 first ever victory over Greece in the Oly Qualifier, Saskia Kosterink (Tex Town Tigers) hit a grandslam to seal the win.

Saskia will be a junior at University of Maryland in the Fall 07.

I'm reminded how these awards went in 2005 for the European Championsips.  .  Very political, like as described in the posts below.  Have things improved this year?

Obviously they did not want to give the award to Germany although two German batters are leading in Batting- as well as in Slugging-Avg.

Obviously they didn't want to give the award to an Israeli either. In the B pool, top 10, an Israeli was #1 in BA (.700), #2 in OBA (.739), #1 in SA, #2, in H, TB, #2. Furthermore, in most of the categories the Israeli was higher than the two winners for hitting and mvp. So, what's that all about?
Softball is supposed to bring people together... , so although I don't know this Israeli, it looks like she was slighted just because she's an Israeli. Or is there another explanation? If there is, let us know. Otherwise it's clear that you've allowed bad things to enter a good tournament.

Well yeah, it does look a little weird- you usually award the best hitter with the best hitting statistics. I would understand why the mvp went to the slovakian girl, but not the best hitter. The Israeli was actually 15-20 ( they missed one of her hits) and the slovakian girl was 12-24..anyways, for those of you who don't know- the israeli is 20 years old, plays softball in Columbia, NY . Bets lefty and slaps the ball every time. She also pitched a few games.

The Best Hitter award went to Eva because she had the highest batting avg.

.591 and 4 Doubles and a Triple to go along with it.

2007 is a year to put Tex Town Tigers on the map, Saskia as the Best Outfielder and Breedge Quinn as the Best Hitter in Euro Championships, and then host the Jr. World Championships and then to Eva de Bruin as the top 19-and Under Hitter.

By the way both of the top hitters swing a TPS Bat.

Tex Town Tigers opened the 2nd half of the season with a victory over the defending champions Sparks of Haarlem 4-2.  After a 3 up 3 down top of the 1st Breedge Quinn got it started with a walk and then Merel Oosterveld reached on an error.  Saskia Kosterink came with a 2 RBI double.  Saskia later scored on a double from Lindsey Meadows.  Lindsey Meadows went the distance allowing 1 earned run for the victory.  On Saturday TTT goes away for a big doubleheader against the Sparks.

Hey Dutchtiger,

Just a little correction: Abigail Harter is from Marshall and is with the Centrals. Also, not sure if she has decided to come, but another dual-passport holder was supposed to come to the Centrals (Kirsten Whitt).

You also forgot, I think, Kristi deVries  (Ohio State -- has a Dutch passport), for Sparks.

Sorry, I got the 2 mixed up.... Both have the same initial A. H.

Kristi de Vries is not here, she is not playing for Sparks. She is in the USA....  But is on the roster for the Champions Cup.  She should be back in Aug-Sept when Coach Kelly comes back to start preparations for the Olympics....

We will see......

Well Tex Town Tigers put DSC '74 to bed early tonight running it up to a 12-0 score.  TTT had 8 hits and 7 runs off Christie Hill in 3 innings...

Lindsey Meadows threw a no hitter, was one pitch away from a perfect game....  There was a small error made at 3B in the top of the 5th....

Well on Tuesday I had my 1st experience of one of my players being ejected.  My player slid into 2B where the SS was blocking the base with a leg and so their legs became tangled up and when my player was trying to get up to go back to the dugout  the legs were a bit close and it appeared she was kicking back with one foot and the umpire threw her out for apparently trying to kick the other player.

Tex Town Tigers has now out scored their opponents 49-7 in 7 games since the Summer Break.  The girls are riding a 5 game winning streak!

Today was different from Tuesday as Tex Town Tigers went on the road to Haarlem to face the 6th place DSC '74.  In the 1st game Tex Town Tigers won it 7-4 in 9 innings.  In the night cap TTT held on for a 4-3 win after starting the game 4-0.  Saskia Kosterink hit a 2 run HR.

Nathalie Timmermans was 5-7 at the plate and drew 2 walks on her 18th birthday.....

Lindsey Meadows won the 1st game and Anna-Be Bartels won the 2nd.

1st place Terrasvogels split today with Euro Stars (5th place), putting them at 22-2 and Tex Town Tigers close behind at 18-6.  These 2 teams play each other 3 times in the coming week.

Tonight in Western Holland there was a pitchers duel for 8 innings once again.  There is some great competition going on here with 3 teams.  It will make for an interesting month of September.  This was a game of great defensive plays and not much hitting.

Dagmar Bloeming (Terrasvogels) 4 K's, 4 hits in 8 innings
Lindsey Meadows (Tex Town Tigers) 11 K's, 2 hits in 8 nnings

Terrasvogels won in the bottom of the 8th with a squeeze bunt 1-0.

These 2 teams square off for a doubleheader on Saturday.  TTT is now 18-7 and Terrasvogels 23-2.

TTT hitters made a lot of contact but found gloves of the opponent.
