In the Netherlands/Denmark game, quite the pitching line:

3.0 IP, 17H, 19R, 10ER

Dare I say it, a Ukranian pitcher out-did that statistic.

3.0 IP, 23H, 24R, 15ER

Outside of these anomalies, mostly lopsided games, it appears. I guess this is pool play at the beginning, and then the group will shrink. Cool, though, that so many countries are in it.

This is the outcome of a new format.  In past years these teams were classified as, essentially, "A" and "B" teams and separate tournaments occurred.  Much like European soccer the top finishers in B group would move up for the next year and bottom A's would be demoted.  This time around there was only one tournament so there are huge disparities in some of the pools.

I am leaving on Saturday for 2 weeks in Italy for European Championship Softball.

These Countries and Softball Associations are the people that we can help the most to get Softball Back on the Olympic Program.

Who from America is coming to help???

There will be some very good Softball! And some very bad Softball!

Any Softball is good to me!

Hope to see you in Italia!

Ciao....

Would love to be coming with you.  You're right, some good, some bad but women who play there (some well into their 30's) really love the game.  Many don't start playing until their late teens.  Their 'careers' are just beginning when U.S. players' are ending.
