Just like the IP call. It's never made all season until it counts. Then the umpires decide to get involved

And then Ducks run themselves out of an inning.  Maybe a chance worth taking.  Not sure.

Generally, the teams that make runs in a tourney do the fundamental things right, particularly in crucial situations. That throw going to 3rd instead of 2nd might well have been the difference between WI going to the Super and going home.

But that put runners at 2nd and 3rd before a clean double, no?

If the throw goes to 2nd, keeping the tying run on 1st, there's much less chance of the 2nd run scoring on the subsequent hit. There's no way to know what would have happened, but the runner being held at 3rd or being thrown out at home to end the game become very real possibilities with that runner starting from 1st instead of 2nd.

No one gonna comment on how Mizzou is about to get knocked out by UIC?

Well, they just tied it up in the 7th, so any comments them getting knocked out would have been premature.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!!! They needed to split the runners!!! The first run was meaningless. The tying run getting into scoring position was the nail in the coffin.
Aside from all that, nice seeing Gwennie's determination as she stepped into the box with two outs in the seventh. The game clearly wasn't close to over in her estimation. Really like that kid.

Good point. Not walking Rhodes was also problematic.

Is there a better speed-power combo anywhere than Shannon Rhodes?

Can't believe she is only a freshman

Agreed.  Definitely thought Miller was the best player on the field in the regional and also showed a lot of grit.

What's scary about Oregon is not only their three pitchers being so young but only three seniors on the entire roster.  They're set up well for the next couple of years at least.
