real - I registered and voted Republican and what I received was the largest gap in history between the very wealthy and the poor with the top echelon receiving the benefits of a credit card economy and a military, governmental, corporate complex.  Mission Accomplished. No one Party is solely and completely to blame for the corruption in governments, but both bear their share of blame.  After the auto industry basically fled Detroit, Detroit went downhill in every way.  I've seen the same happen in several communities when the steel industry fled areas around Pittsburgh, Pa. Those areas  now look like sets for old Western movies except for all the rust and crumbling buildings.  Single industry cities and towns are especially vulnerable to a move by that industry to seek cheaper labor and increase profit. The people who move into the vacuum are not from the upper echelons of our social and economics communities.  It's a roof over their heads and they can get by with unemployment compensation and welfare. Unfortunately for all, this creates a situation where government has difficulty creating enough tax  income to pay for this culture which seems to increase yearly and is easily corrupted.
Likewise, the culture, once established, creates its own image in the next generation and beyond.  As JFK said, "Just because there is a problem, that doesn't mean there's a solution".  Is there a realistic solution to this mess or are we all just beating our gums about what is wrong without any real idea of how to fix it???     Frank

JG - a lot of discussion on this forum centers around Republican vs Democrat.  I agree with you that both parties have let down the American people.

What I ( and I suspect Susan, KIR, FIB and others) really are concerned about is the philosophical direction this country is headed.  For me, this is about liberty and the values upon which this country was founded vs a creeping trend toward a socialistic and authoritarian regime.  Bush abandoned his conservative principles which was bad enough.  But Obama is embracing his socialist values which is infinitely worse and accelerating the demise of the greatest country the world has ever known.  The politicians of the last half century (with a few notable exceptions) have stuck their middle finder out at the Constitution and the founders by enabling and supporting the weaknesses of those who have found themselves in a bad way.  This is mostly attributable to a decline in moral values and an abandonment of the Judeo-Christian values upon which this country was founded.

I will tell you that not only is there no such thing as separation of church and state in the constitution but there should not be a separation of church and state.  The muslims, hindus, and atheists in this country need to understand that this country is a Christian country and that is the moral foundation for everything that made this country great.  We should absolutely allow all religions to practice freely but that doesn't mean we shouldn't recognize the dominant religion that has been rooted in this country for over 200 years.

What the founders understood to be most important was that the government would not establish a religion and force its citizens to practice that religion.  We never did that in this country and there has never been an effort to do that.  Yet, somehow, we allowed the atheists and their liberal co-conspirators to establish the idea that there is something called separation of church and state.  It's an absolute lie that has been allowed to go unchallenged.  I say, enough.

This is what we conservatives mean by taking back our country.  Nothing more.

Dewey doesn't hide.  He said he would be offline for several days while celebrating his anniversary.

Steve and Hammer - Thanks very much to the both of you.  This post from soft5 takes me back to the inconsistency from some on the Right I often bemoan.  I think I'll steal pabar's term "contradictory" as a better description.  One day you have a poster pleading for the so called "whining kid in the restaurant" to clam up and the next day you have somebody from the Right calling him out for his silence.  So it goes.  It appears we have a couple of new "members" and my suspicion has me thinking an old foe or two may have returned to action.  I hope they'll fess up one way or the other.

Dewey, as that whining Kid in the restaurant, I am what I am, and am beholding to no man, and submit only to God, as every man should.

Dewey, do you submit to God? Just wondering. No grievance intended.

Because someone thinks opposite from king dewey, the right is inconsistent again. Give it a break dewey, mr. Bemoaner. Collect all your minions in a circle pat each other on the back and tell each other how great you all are. That makes good conversation.

Cut to the chase, soft5 are you a plant from PGP? I dont understand why an 'old foe' would have a need to change their name. Old foes generally find something better to do, a year or two of this is such a waste of time. Paranoid much?

real - Why do you attack the messenger with demonizing and name calling  instead of attacking the message?    Frank

I was following the lead of the moderator joisey. You and Him are the most consistent at not staying on thread topic and he was doing the same thing to our new member soft5. Demonizing and possibly making false accusations. He admitted he bemoans, I thought mr. Bemoaner was a compliment. Go hit the Geritol and loosen up
I did try and address the message. You going to answer FIB's question?

Drill your own well in secrecy, yes it can be done. The one thing that people cannot survive without is water. I have 3 wells on my property, and will drill a fourth before some pinhead says I cannot. Surface water users are pawns of politicians, and Lawyers that control their water rights, and enrich themselves upon the public's dependence on surface water. Texas is a state that currently ensures a citizen's right to water beneath their property. What are your rights as a free citizen in your state and county? Go to a water board meeting in your local community. The people there are Lawyers and Politicians. There are no citizens, and your rights to purchase water under your feet are given to these people for a profit. Drill your own well, and do it in the dark of night if need be. Be beholden to no man, or politician.
