Lest anyone think I'm just throwing out some sort of right wing nonsense, none other than Tom Perez, Chairman of the DNC, has proclaimed that Socialist candidates are the future of the Democratic Party.

This is an incredibly stunning admission.  The head of the DNC is essentially embracing an ideology that has failed everywhere it's been tried.

November is going to be very interesting.

“Socialism is the Axe Body Spray of political ideologies: It never does what it claims to do, but people too young to know better keep buying it anyway.”

Love the Axe Body Spray analogy.

As long as we ignore our public school system it will go this way.  We need to do something about the left turning our public school system into socialist indoctrination camps.  It is not serving their students.  The roll out of high school, fail at their first try in college, put their hands out, and then lose their minds when the world runs them over.  Then it is drugs, despair and sh!tting in the streets.

Dems, please, we beg you, please quit using our public school system to turn our youth into drug addled street sh!itters.  Find a different way to get votes.  Maybe something that encourages youth to be productive members of our society and to strive to have a good job.  You guys used to have that union thing to get votes, can you work your way back to there?

Calling socialism an ideology that failed is super kind.  It has killed well over 60M people, some say more like 100M.

School districts have operated forever.  Very successful.  A community wants to spend a lot on schools, they vote and they do it.  They want to spend less, they can do that as well.

When the federal government steps in, brings loads and loads of rules and indoctrination, no longer reflects the local community.  Then yes it becomes very much like socialism.

LAUSD is a prime example of that. Enrollment has been declining for years yet the number of administrators has skyrocketed. They continue to build new schools even though there is no need.

Despite projected budget deficits reaching nearly half a billion dollars and steep enrollment declines, LA Unified’s certified administrative staff has increased 22 percent in the last five years, according to a superintendent’s report.

The number of teachers has dropped 9 percent in the same period. And teachers and certified staff are aging toward retirement, heading toward a possible teacher shortage.

The report was presented to the LA Unified school board Tuesday at a special budget meeting at USC to discuss ways of lowering a looming budget deficit.

The administrative staffing level increase surprised some of the board members.

“How is it possible that administrators went up so much when we have a decline in enrollment?” asked board member Ref Rodriguez, shaking his head.

From LAUSD

According to the report presented by Superintendent Michelle King and her staff, certified administrators increased from 2,146 in 2011-2012 to 2,628 positions in 2015-2016, a 22 percent increase.

Over the same period, K-12th grade teachers decreased from 27,208 to 24,863, a 9 percent drop.

Not if it's done at a local level.  The Department of Education should be abolished.

We live 5 houses down form our middle school.  There used to be a single Principal.  He would run the middle school and 3 primary schools.  3 days a week he would walk to the other schools and back to take of any issues they had.

Now you have:
4 - Principals - 1 Middle school, 1 in each of the primary schools.
3 admins that help with different types of paperwork.
2 Resource officers
2 cars, 1 for the principal to ride around in and one for the resource officers to share.

The citizens in each State should decide if they want public schools available. If so, then the State and the local communities alone are responsible for the funding and regulation of that system as well as the curriculum to be taught. The Federal government has no business being in the education business. And yes, it has become an industry and a cash cow on the Federal level.

The south in the 50's showed why the federal government must be involved in public education. Everyone must be served by our educational system, not just the select. Surely you can see that. Does Mississippi ring a bell for you?

Dark times indeed.  Good thing working Americans in the Republican party put an end to it all.

Both parties have sucked at advancing education, you should go read the Common Core thread. You also might want to research the two under Obama, Duncan and King, they all have been pretty much failures running back to Bennett.

Those Southern Dems all became Republicans, precisely because they hated the idea of integration and civil rights. Read more, learn more. When racist Democrats saw that the Democratic Party was embracing civil rights and voting rights, they defected to the Republican Party. The GOP has been reliably racist ever since. Most Republicans are quietly racist, quietly white supremacist--working quietly to suppress black voting, gerrymandering congressional districts, passing laws that make life even more difficult for minorities--but you also have some flaming racists like Trump.

Further proof of your ignorance.  Least we forget, it was the Democrats who placed Black People in their condition today.  Most Democrats are racist.  See how that works!
