Gonna be mass hysteria over here lol.

While nowhere near as prepared as some of our fellow posters I do have a better supply than most around me.
Of course that means I need to be better armed than most around me.
That is also covered

I've got an uncle who lives 2 miles from me.  Him and his 2 sons give me hope, probably 25-30 guns between 4 of us.  He was a 30 year Police Detective and then a gun trader.  Law enforecment would be stretched thin, as if they weren't already.  Everyone would have to have some degree of self reliance or perish.  More prepared you are, could and should increase your chances to survive 10-14 days.  We have a fair supply of ammo and would probably die before we ran out of ammo.  I'd rather be where woody is but I've got ammo, a well and a decent food supply and could last 10-14 days with our food stock.  We get great practice every year here preparing [like last year] if not actually living with threat of hurricanes.  Metropolitan areas will burn.   I'm on the right side of the river from Houston but when SHTF anything could happen and most of it's bad.

The weak links would be my sisters, sisters in laws and my mother but they'd last longer than dewey

I've got more than enough guns and ammo.  My neighbors are all dippy libtards and regularly brag about their massive cache's of inlaid supplies and how effective they work at making sure they are rotated, fresh and maintained.  They also how they would much rather see someone steal their supplies than raise a hand to protect them.   hmmm, you don't say neighbor.

That has allowed me to focus my spending on guns, ammo, shelter.

I am consider putting together a bug out cycle.

[007-bug-out-bikes-readyman]
I have some remote areas with friends in them.  I think it would be pretty bad ass tooling across the barren landscape on my bug out bike ala mad max.
I am into simple guns glock 9's, mini 14's, ar 14's.  stuff with easily interchangeable parts and focused on 2 ammo platforms, and stuff that is so simple to maintain, i will not need any special skills.  The bug out cycle fits nicely into this plan.

Dippy libtards are very polite telling you that they'll give you their stuff.  I bet there are some nice remote forests up there.  Manned remote areas, sounds smart.   I think the bike would be awesome for extended prepping situations, even 10-14 days with little to no fuel

You guys are just precious. Ever worrying about sh1t that doesn't matter. If such a situation should occur, my efforts would go to organizing people to live life as close to normal as possible until the grid was restored. I don't think I'd waste time planning ways to steal my neighbors food. Would not occur to me.

Jane, how do you organize people to any level of a normal life when millions of people suddenly have no electricity, water, or food? Within 72 hours there would be anarchy in the streets, armed mobs looting and killing. A state of emergency and a curfew would be declared, the police, fire, and EMS overwhelmed and the national guard would have to shoot warring groups of inner city thugs. However, with your positive attitude and so much hope and faith in your fellow man I'm sure everyone would listen to your reasoning. You should have been put in charge of organizing all the folks at the Superdome after Katrina.

Last place you want to be is one of those big city democrat crap holes.  Those drug addled street crappers will be going ape sh1t once the government ebt cards shut down.  Just not clear to me how you are going to community organize that viscous mob.

It is cool that you want to give your food to violent drug users, but your efforts will not save them.  Merely postpone their inevitable demise a day or two.  Much better to see your food ride away on my bug out cycle.  You can count on it actually going to help build a small cell of actual survivable human culture.

I would think that would make you happy, not salty.

scotty would be the first to go, his age would inhibit his usefuleness if SHTF as exhibited mostly by his attitude.  Age + attitude = Value.  Over 65, pissy attitude = target.  The quicker that these type can be culled, the better for the rest of us.  I love it when I hear they'd just give up and throw their hands in the air.  Paula's pistol will not protect that household and neither will the firepoker or the selfie-stick.  Scotty just announced that his pantry is open for all to share.

She on her own.

Rad as can be post apocalyptic motorcycle ride, or hang out with the wife.  Once I came up with the idea, it was quite the dilemma

Was definitely leaning towards just saying screw it, and going for the motorcycle ride.  But decided to bring it up with her and 'discuss' it.  Well that was a mistake.  Based on her butthurt crappy attitude, it was a no brainer.

She acted like it was just about me abandoning her in the post apocalypse.  Totally had no respect for the motorcycle nor the ride.  Let alone the genius notion that I was going to ride off with Scotty's food.

Compromise and toss her into a sidecar. She can mix you a cocktail while you are fishtailing up the mountainside.

hmm, you might have something here.  Maybe too late for that now.

She started making her own post apocalypse plans.  She was getting super pissed that her plans were not coming out as cool as mine.  Her list was like 1) stop at the grocery store 2) get hair done. 3) make bed.  Crap like that.   It was really lame/dumb.

Mine was 1) Rambo knife kill following neighbors in this order, I then listed neighbors and the reasons, 2) mount 50ca on bug out motorcycle, 3) leave huge cloud of dust as I tear out.  4) shotgun blast important signs to leave others trying to find safe route out in state of confusion.  It is a pretty radical list, and was getting better.

Probably should not have mentioned that she is over the breeding age, so not going to be all that much help anyway.   In hindsight that comment was probably just inflammatory and could have been left out.

Anyway she comes around after our tiff, i might try and throw her the sidecar bone.  I bet she will want a lame windshield on it.  I just do not see post apocalypse ride with a lame windshield on the sidecar.  It has to be open cockpit, am I right?

In my initial response I didn't want to piss on his cornflakes but I wanted to ask where the wifey would be.  You know him better than I do so I just want to send thanks for asking that very pertinent question.

Florence approaching. NC and SC have 6 Nuke plants, owned by Duke Energy. The Brunswick and Shearon Harris plants are closest to projected landfall.  In 2012, Duke reported that there are hundreds of missing flood barriers at their plants. If breached by flooding, things could go catastrophic. But the NRC is assuring all that they have things under control.

A storm that hits as a cat 3 and quickly downgrades to a cat 1 is something that any Nuke facility should be designed to survive. Heck, they should be up and running if there are overhead distribution grids still available to accept the load.

"Tens of thousands of frogs and toads have taken over the North Carolina coast after months of record-setting weather.

Locals have reported discovering the creatures in their homes, hopping on their faces and even falling from the sky. One area resident told The Outer Banks Voice that the little green guys “poop everywhere.”

Both Hurricane Florence and rains from June and July are responsible for the sudden increase in populations, which experts are calling “explosive breeding.”
