Blake is clear cut best coach of the group. Stacy has the best shot as a female from the Power 5.

Excuse me...  I'm new to this thread and have a question:

Why are so few coaches in D-1 softball's top 100 to 150 teams losing their jobs?  There seems to be way more movement in other college sports.  Or, has that "musical chairs" process just not started yet?

I will answer this again. Because being in the 100-150 group doesn't mean you have done a poor job.

Sorry, I wasn't clear...

I didn't mean the coaches of #s 100, 101, 102....150.

I meant that the top 100, or even top 150 don't seem to have fired many coaches.  Why is that?

Geez.... I'm just trying to ask for people's thoughts as to why so few of the D1 softball coaches (up and down the ranks) have been fired?  Isn't this low rate of casualty (thus far) unusual?  Or does it not happen for a little while?

Hopefully that makes sense?

For the schools ranked 100 to 278, part of the reason is that softball is by and large non-revenue generating, so it doesn't pay for itself. So firing a coach, in the middle of a contract, is an additional expense. Unless there is a criminal act, inappropriate relationships, or the coach is endangering the wellbeing of the player(s) they will wait until the contract runs out and simply not renew the contract.

Secondly, winning softball games isn't always the #1 priority for those athletic departments. As long as your athletes aren't in the police blotter, or parents aren't in the ADs office complaining of abuse or there aren't allegations of embezzlement or mis appropriating funds, the AD isn't paying attention to softball.

Just my opinion.

Or if they aren't great on the field but are helping to prop up the athletic department's cumulative GPA, there's reason to keep them around despite not winning.

Kent State has posted the Head job but you'd think they'd name the interim the Head Coach given the success this past season.

Austin Peay was also listed on a job site. I know Austin Peay us staying. Kent State is probably doing the same thing. I have been told that athletic departments are required to post the job even though they know who they want to hire.

No official announcement that I have seen, but rumor is that Georgia Tech has made a move today.

May be respecting the NCAA wishes to not make such announcements during the WCWS; or may be a bad source.

Nope; apparently assistant Jake Jury is sacrificial lamb, at this point.

This will be the first year that is "her" recruits, not playing solely with what was left.

Number20sMom...the current coach is staying as their HC. Schools are required to post jobs in this situation. Atleast I've heard that...not sure how true that is. But in this case it makes sense

Agree.  And they had success after losing Emma Johnson from last year, who is now in the NPF.  But the interim is a male and I'll be surprised if a MAC school hires a male.

Does anyone know what is going on at Arizona State? There were several posts a few weeks ago that said the job was going to open but nothing has happened.

Regarding ASU, I think they're waiting until after the wcws to announce. It's confirmed that their next coaching announcement will be for softball.

Thank you sportz_fanz! I figured they may be waiting. The past several years a lot of announcements are made next week and the following week.

Isn't there a head coach confirmed already at ASU, they never posted the job opening online.

Don't public institutions have to post openings

Since they hired interim coaches, I would think the job posting from a year ago would suffice.

Shortest list I can remember; perhaps the shortest this century.  Can't really identify the reason as the math suggest there are the same number of winners and losers each year.
