It makes complete sense that to make their Top 44 it helps to lose your ace that throws ⅔ of your innings.

I don't get it either. There are some very serious head-scratchers on this list.

Not a surprise. There are many folks who question this particular poll every year, and like all of them they are the OPINIONS of one or a group of folks, and all of us have them as well. Maybe someone should make a list poll on this site with the top 10 or so conferences have have a vote. It might be more interesting if you couldn't vote for your team (or conference) in the poll. I don’t put a lot of weight on this list. They always seem to be more off than on outside of the top 10

. Which list DO you put a lot of weight in? How have their results panned out historically, particularly outside the top 10?

I was just saying there are some clear errors on this one year in & year out. No way all these teams are ahead of Georgia. I didn’t realize you did this countdown.

I don’t do this countdown or any other. I was just curious if there is a preseason poll that has a strong track record of accuracy from 11 through 44? Seems that is were opinions vary greatly and there is the greatest margin for error. Hoping you had kept track of results of several preseason polls.

If Megan Good is indeed out for the season like someone is reporting in the CAA thread, that'll throw a monkey wrench into the mix. However, it was posted without any source, so I'm not looking too much into it at this point.

I know it's a poll and thus an opinion, but seeing all these teams in front of UGA is kinda shocking.

I don't know--we were utterly pitiful in-conference last year. Based solely on that performance, I'd consider this reasonable, and maybe even a little generous. If Mathis is the stud some have predicted, then we might make a little more noise than this--but that's a lot to put on a freshman pitcher.

So who do we have left??
SEC (7): Florida, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss
Pac12 (5): UCLA, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Utah
Big XII (2): Oklahoma, Baylor
B1G (2): Michigan, Minnesota
ACC (1): Florida State
Other (1): ULL

All 18 of these teams finished the season last year in the top 20. Not going to be going out on a limb with any top predictions.

Very surprised, most of their All Americans transferred out. I was expecting to see them in the 30s on this list.

Only thing I can figure is they have no confidence in the rest of the Sun Belt.

Just wondering what you all think about Minnesota's Kendyl Lindaman. She broke the school records for HR (20), RBI (76), BB (63), OBP (.598), SLG (.899) and OPS (1.497) as a freshman last season. She also hit .426 with 58 runs scored, 29 EBH and 133 TB while striking out just 13 times in 148 AB over 61 games. She was also named to the all defensive team in her conference.

Will she improve on those phenomenal numbers in her sophomore season...
or will she hit a second year slump?

Seems like she batted before SG. she may not see as much pitching.

SG batted 7th in the lineup last year and had a miserable season at the plate.  Lindaman will be fine.  I just hope she gets to DP more this season as she was a bit bruised up at the end of last season having caught nearly every inning of every game.

8. Baylor
9. Arizona
10. Florida State

I mean... Michigan loses Betsa off a deeply flawed team... 15 or better is incredible

That said, you nailed it

I think Beaubien will eventually be better than Betsa. It is a matter of how quickly that happens. I'm curious to see who is #2. It would be nice not to need Blanco to leave 1B, she's been a major disappointment.

Gosh, Blanco plummeted from a 1.285 OPS in 2016 to a .935

She had to have had a significant injury.

Losing Romero, Christner, Lawrence and Betsa since 2016, it makes sense they are taking the foot off the pedal a little bit schedule-wise this year.

The preseason SEC Coaches' Poll has Auburn finishing 6th behind FL, TN, A&M, AL, and LSU (not necessarily in that order).

We will find out shortly, I could have Bama/Auburn and even Ole Miss mixed up. I based this on teams they were putting in the regionals these teams would host in combo with logical ranking. The SEC was the toughest to guess on due to these all being very similar. The same can be said with Oregon/Washington, it's a toss up.
