Here is a current debt clock for CA.
It is now $435M in debt.
10k per person
15.56% of GDP.
A grave concern.

How dare you confuse him with facts, so unfair.

EX:

SACRAMENTO — California has come a long way to dig itself out of budget deficits, but the state remains on shaky ground due to nearly $400 billion in unfunded liabilities and debt from public pensions, retiree health care and bonds, financial analysts say.

Hey Fresh, try more research before you jump in with one link cuz you have zero knowledge of what is going on in CA.
The dems play fast and loose with budget and funding numbers to hide their abysmal failuree
We have the highest gas and income tax in the country, gov moonbeam is fleecing billions of dollars for his buddies under the guise of high speed rail, we have 30% of all welfare recipients in the entire country living here and we are over run will criminal illegal aliens.
Yep he is doing a fine job

An illegal alien on trial for the murder of 2 police officers in Sacramento had his trial halted because he was laughing during the posecutions description of the crime, told the jury he did it and his only regret was not killing more cops, and that he would break out of prison and kill more. Even after the jury was removed he continued on his tirade.
Of course his attorney is claiming insanity and the fact he was high on meth to try and spare him the death penalty.

A San Fran politician is proposing legislation that “the rich” have to give back half of their Federal tax savings to the state. I guess the 13% personal state income tax is just not enough. Why should those evil rich get to keep more of their money when the state would be so much better at determining its proper use.

"The rich" are always talking about how they would love to pay more taxes.  I'm surprised we need a law to force them to do so.

Buy an electric car in California. Receive a rebate, preferential treatment in HOV lanes and save on your personal fuel bill. Hey now, that's a deal!

But HOV lanes become clogged with too numerous car pools, along with your HOV stickered Priius, Volt and Tesla. Rebates are costly to a strapped state and taxes on gasoline, which are a major source of revenue to maintain roads diminish due to the volume of non-dino fueled vehicles.

The answer? Higher taxes on fuel. Hey! Now I am paying more because someone is paying less. Charge via electronic means to use HOV lanes. Hey!! Fat wallets get to drive the King's Road.

As a finger to the eye of all those that invested in electric vehicles, there will soon be a surcharge on their yearly registration.

Follow the rules, rules change. Too late, you're all in battery Bob. Bend over like the rest of us.

Sounds like some of you have more problems in your own backyard than we do as a whole. If you and dewy and some of the great conservatives here on this forum from California were on city councils and state government you wouldn't have near the problems we hear about from your once great state. You've taxed yourself out of a comfort zone that dewy wants to do to the rest of us. He wants all of us to share in the misery but I think we will decline his offer

The State of California has certainly hoisted taxes and foisted fees. The point of near breaking? Perhaps. However, as I've said before, some very good programs, clean air for example, are worth the cost.

Any over-budget ledger could easily be brought back to black by ridding ourselves of the politicians that have pork barrel programs like the Bullet(head) Train.

Gotcha fully understood, if I may advise Colorado weather beats Texas in the summer but Colorado turning more blue by the year. Colorado is where Texans go to retire. Get somewhere with no state tax, you'll have retirement bliss probably with your home equity and no state income tax. I doubt we will ever have a state income tax here, you're state is headed for eternal citizenry servitude. They take your money and spend it for you

Thank you, so far

EX:

Fifty-five percent of immigrant families in the state get some kind of means-tested benefits, compared with just 30 percent of natives, according to City Journal contributing editor Kay S. Hymowitz.

California’s de facto status as a one-party state lies at the heart of its poverty problem.

EX:

Extensive environmental regulations aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions make energy more expensive, also hurting the poor. On some estimates, California energy costs are as much as 50 percent higher than the national average.

Here speaking of dewy and other progressives

EX:

Apparently content with futile poverty policies, Sacramento lawmakers can turn their attention to what historian Victor Davis Hanson aptly describes as a fixation on “remaking the world.”

All this only reinforces the rest of America’s perception of an out-of-touch Left Coast, to the disservice of millions of Californians whose values are more traditional, including many of the state’s poor residents.

Highest poverty, institutionalized poverty by design of Democrat lawmakers.

You should see downtown LA. It’s like a refugee tent-city encampment, and reeks of piss and sh!t. It’s embarrassing.

And now anyone that renews their license is automatically registered to vote. No big deal you say, except for the little fact that CA gives driver licenses to illegals......

Why don't conservatives care about the truth?

From Snopes: Counter the statement, not whether you trust Snopes or not.

The way automatic registration works is relatively simple: Eligible citizens are registered to vote when they show up at a Department of Motor Vehicles office to obtain a driver’s license or state ID. The DMV gives the eligible voter a chance to opt out if they prefer not to register. If the person does not opt out, the DMV electronically transfers their voter registration information to the Secretary of State’s office, rather than making election officials enter data by hand from paper registration forms …

“… Automated voter registration is actually a more secure way of doing things,” California Secretary of State Alex Padilla told HuffPost.

Potential voters “have to demonstrate proof of age, the vast majority of time people are showing a birth certificate or a passport, which also reflects citizenship. That’s arguably more secure than someone checking a box under penalty of perjury,” Padilla said.

From the Huffington Post link:

The way automatic registration works is relatively simple: Eligible citizens are registered to vote when they show up at a Department of Motor Vehicles office to obtain a driver’s license or state ID. The DMV gives the eligible voter a chance to opt out if they prefer not to register. If the person does not opt out, the DMV electronically transfers their voter registration information to the Secretary of State’s office, rather than making election officials enter data by hand from paper registration forms. (The federal National Voter Registration Act of 1993 already requires states to give eligible voters the opportunity to register to vote when they apply for a new or renewed driver’s license.)
