It's actually a very good list, in my opinion.  I would drop A&M out of the top 16 and add Arkansas, but other than that, no real issues.  Sure I have some minor quibbles.  I like Wisconsin and Liberty more than CSM does, but overall a pretty good job.

Is it too much to ask for this website to know that Mickey Dean is not the coach at James Madison?

Based on how CSM has placed teams in their bracket (https://www.collegesportsmadness.com/softball/bracketology), this appears to be what the rest of the rankings will look like:

16. Kentucky
15. Louisiana
14. Alabama
13. Texas A&M
12. Arizona
11. Baylor
10. Texas
9. LSU
8. South Carolina
7. Tennessee
6. Georgia
5. Washington
4. Florida State
3. Florida
2. Oklahoma
1. UCLA

Yeah, I should have figured CSM would send Oregon to Austin for regionals. Texas and Louisiana may have swapped places in my guess.

Who the hell said that? I like Gettins, she seems like a good player and a nice person. She comes from a hardworking family in NZ. Salt of the earth... There is no way she should be considered a candidate for the #1 at Alabama.

They have a pretty good pitching staff. Summer Ellyson and Casey Dixon are pretty good, not amazing, but when you throw their bats in there they have like 2 lineups of strong players. Of course, pitching always beats bats, and yes they are too high IMO aswell, but definitely a top 16 team. Next year with the addition of Megan Kleist, they are going to be Top 8.

Whoever did the Alabama writeup for CSM.  And my response has more to do with Fouts than Gettins, but I don't think she could even be projected as the clear #2 right now.

With CSM, probably. Normally ranked higher the years after they went to the World Series in the NFCA and USA Softball.

My guess would be the second year of Yvette's back to back WCWS teams probably started the season ranked higher but information from that timeframe is sketchy.

What bats are you talking about?

Dobson will always be at LSU as long as Torina is there. Don’t think she would ever fire him or make that change. They are too good of friends.

We know Amanda Sanchez will hit lol

Also noticed the LSU preview talks about Baylee thornhill but no Ali Kilponen. Invalidates the entire preview for LSU

I kinda laughed at this part under the “key” returning players

Becca Shulte, INF, .166 BA, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 10 SB

If Torina hadn't gotten Schulte to pulled the 180 off her Oregon signing in 2017, D.J. Sanders doesn't go to Eugene...possibly ends up in Baton Rouge?

As much of a recruiting virtuoso as he has been, CMW got VERRRRRRY lucky

I do agree.........

Torina is, and has been, invested by her comments about Dobson enough to keep her from replacing him..........Too much egg-on-the-face to replace him now..........Too many questions to answer about why now and not before?

Besides, Torina is not a hitting person - she's a pitching person...........How to swing-a-bat completely alludes her..........

And, for the record, I don't support firing Dobson...........I support keeping him on, just not as the hitting coach...........Players like him and he's a good recruiter............

I thought Sanders wasn’t allowed to transfer to another in state school, at least that’s what I heard.

There is zero reason schulte should sniff the lineup this year. Juco kids don’t seem like they have a high success rate. I’m not sure if anyone could show me worse numbers for power 5 position players than what she put up last year.

Looks like Amanda Sanchez to 3B and shemiah to 2nd. It would be nice not to have 3-4 kids hit below .250. Hard to win games with those numbers.

I'm having a hard time believing that LSU will be a top 8 with the loss of their 2 All-American pitchers and one of their best hitters. I know the additional of Sanchez will help but they can't hope to be one of the top teams with only 2 players hitting over .300. Torina will have to make some tough choices to find a balance of who is going to play on the field vs hitting in the lineup.

Me too. I was never sold on Gorsuch and if she were that good, she would have taken significant innings from Walljasper and Hoover. Wickersham was a top recruit and Kilponen's stock has been rising but even top recruits usually take some time to adjust to the level of play in college. Sanchez is a good hitter but they just don't have much other offense. I think they will struggle in league play and in the post season.

Feels like a down year overall when THIS LSU team and ASU and Michigan are so highly regarded in these polls
