Yeah.  Just as funny as this one about USC.  There must be a thousand these Hitler videos and most of them are pretty funny.

JG - Unfortunately I did not. I cannot take credit for someone else's work. It was brilliant. Impressive use of colorful phrases.

Biscuit - My kind of football coach. Football is such an emotional game that, in my opinion, a coach needs to create adrenalin flow and then direct it to individuals who are challenged to work toward a worthwhile common cause.
The constant is program. The variables are recruiting and coaching (technical). This guy seems to be the right guy for this program. They are flying high on fumes right now, but that is a terrific building block for the future, and I see more and more kids who chose USC now choosing to go to UCLA if their academics will allow them. .

Wonder how he would do using same motivation for softball?

old scout - How about those South Florida Bulls upsetting Florida State with a freshman starting his first game at quarterback (17-7)? Two years ago the coaches were operating from trailors pulled up on campus. South Florida has made the Big Three in Florida into The Big Four, and in a very short time.
PS - As for emotional coaching, it works with women as long as it is positive. You can challenge a young man's manhood, but that doesn't work well with women.

I had picked USF,but when I realized starting QB was out,I thought,"you dummy",but they still pull it off.

Talk about A QB,did you get a chance to see the young guy for Mizzo last night....6'4'..240 lbs.,he can move in the pocket &has a cannon & great touch.
Would like to see Iowa beat PSU tonight, but might be tough in happy valley.

Some coaches are just great coaches,no matter who& what they coach, that said you probably don't see many Ex-FB coaches coaching D-1 softball.

old scout - Is he better than Daniels? Florida's Gators might be in trouble. They even flew two separate planes into Kentucky, one with players with the flu, and one with players who don't have it yet (no kidding). I just saw a big tackle throwing up on the field during warmups (one of the Pouncey twins). On to TV !!!

Yup, Frank. I don't think they will make it thru the 2nd half. Kentucky are playing possum to wear these Gators out and then destroy them in the 2nd half.    GO GATORS!

Many are saying he will be better than Daniels[who just got put on Saints 53 man roster].I believe their only problem will be that they don't have as good of running game & this could hurt them against some.By the way,my #2 grandson played against Chase Daniels & his South lake Carrol team in Texas state playoffs, didn't get to tackle him, they both played offense.

old scout - I know that you are a praying man, so would you please pray for Tim Tebow, Florida's quarterback and great human being. He was blindsided, and his head was snapped in two directions. He was taken to a hospital. From what I saw, he has at least a deep concussion. His color was bad, and he was throwing up as they carted him off the field and he had lost balance.

toroman - I watched the Bulls when Mo and Anderson threw. Mo could also hit a ton. She is a great person. We lived in Wesley Chapel for 8 years after retirement (built a house there), then moved to Albuquerque for 3 years, and then came back here to Florida for the last 3 years http://www.forestlake-estates.com. I've spent quite a bit of time at the USF softball field, and Ken Eriksen is a good friend.

I just heard on the Iowa game that they were holding Tebow over for observation, but he was doing good.I will say a prayer for him,he is a fine young man& I have a hunch that he is in GOOD HANDS.

How about my Hawkeyes beating PSU.Thing crazy about Iowa is they have a lot of young players stepping up.How about that little running back number 4 on depth chart ,had planned to redshirt him.Problem for Iowa is they play @WI.&@OHIO ST.

One thing we know after the last couple weeks, the polls don't mean much.

old scout and others - I have been reading this morning that the media is playing the "blame game" and noting that Tebow, with a respiratory ailment, was still in the game in the late third quarter with Florida ahead 31-7. Fingers are pointing to Urban Meyer and asking why the very capable second string quarterback who was healthy wasn't in the game at that time. I haven't heard anything from Meyer. What is your take on the situation?

old scout - Year after year Iowa puts out a very strong program and wins some big games. However, they don't seem to have that extra push to make them a national power. Maybe this year? We'll see after Wisconsin, and especially Ohio State.

Probably would have been smart to have him out,but from what I read about Tebow,he most likely wanted to stay in the game.

I remember one time when my son was playing & i could see he was hurt, but still in the game. After the game,i asked him ,why he didn't go to the sidelines for a few plays? He said,"sure & the guy that comes in for me makes some great plays & they decide to leave him in there",that's the way some athletes think.Me,I like it.

old scout - There are those (including me at my age) who feel that the role of the adult is to save the player from just the syndrome you mentioned. We were always taught (even in my macho town) that there is a difference between pain and injury, that one played with pain, but not with injury and a player should know the difference. I still think that's a good rule, and coaches should enforce it at whatever level. In the case of Tebow, he wasn't injured before the hard hit unless one considers his respiratory ailment an injury. The second guess includes the risk of injury in a situation where the team doesn't need the star player any more.

Yeah, Biscuit, CRN and his "sexual assaulting" players (guess they forgot he was majoring in DUMB) aren't really my cup of tea.  Guess I'm just more from the "speak softly and carry a big stick" mentality.  That was just passed on from my father I guess.

Can I tell you one of the greatest experiences I've ever had in my life is watching CRN get on the microphone after last year's loss to USC and try to pump up the fans after you just got annihilated.  It was like the guy had no clue he just lost.

Biscuit - When Aly Habetz (asst. softball coach at Alabama) was pitching baseball for the Coors Silver Bullets (women's baseball team), she met Tommy Lasorda who was taken by her skill in baseball. They have remained close, and Aly (great person) calls him "Uncle" Tommy. Bottom line is that Tommy Lasorda is an Alabama Softball fan.

While we are dropping names, I have seen at many games and said "hello" to "Popeye" (senior moment so please help with his real name Edit- I remembered it's Don Zimmer) at numerous games where his granddaughter (Mollica) is playing 3B for UMass. He sold his memorablia to help pay for the UMass Stadium. I have also had the pleasure of a conversation with Derek Jeter who was at a South Florida game to support the Bulls with his buddy George Posada. Jeter, as my wife noted, was "raised right". What a gentlemen.

Oceanmuffin offers: "The funny part of this is that Carroll and Neuheisel are almost identical personalities. I like them both. Both very flamboyant and encouraging to their players and fans. Both very smart offensive oreinted minds. Both great recruiters. They could be twins."

Since Pete has been on the defensive side of the ball throughout his coaching career...

Biscuit, I agree completely with the point about once you lose a game, it is time to move onto the next game and leave the past in the past. Interestingly, that was the same sentiment from Carroll last week.

But that isn't the point, the point is, how often do you see a coach get up in front of the fans left in the stands after a game they just lost and take to explaining "the loss and the future of the team."

The thing I don't like about CRN is from all outward appearances, he is making this team about himself and not about the players on the field. And I know you will retort by saying the same thing about Carroll - on that we will just have to disagree.

My only beef with Carroll is that sometimes I find he pulls off the pedal a little too much during games, and that causes the playing level to drop and allows things like the UW game to happen. Well, that and the fact that he seems to be stuck on trying to get Aaron Corp onto the field.

Re: Tommy Lasorda, celebrating his 60th year with the Dodgers franchise is DANG impressive.

Can you name one other coach that does that? I mean the mighty Joe Pa doesn't do it. Bobby Bowden hasn't done it.

The point is, it is just another ploy to get face time. Just like taking a helicopter to try and get "face time." Let's put it this way, the only person I can name on UCLA's team is Kevin Prince, and that is because he is injured. But every last thing you hear about UCLA's program is about CRN and his style of coaching.

On a different note, the hype at USC for at least the 4 years I've been in LA has been put on the players, i.e. this year's Matt Barkley, last year Sanchez, Maualuga, before that Booty... It is just a different situation right now. In years down the road, people might be talking about the stars on UCLA's football team, but currently, people are just talking about the star coach.

Biscuit said: "I think that any fan of any school would say the same about their football coach."

There is at least one team playing college football that can never complain about a coach taking their foot off the pedal and that is the fans of the University of Florida. Urban Myer plays a full out game almost the entire 60 minutes of every game.
