Hahaha oh Dewey. You post a link to support that "defending the smearing of democrats" statement that shows San Luis Obispo as the #1 'soaring crime' increase city?
I'm talking about the 3rd largest city in the USA, and you are posting links to SLO crimes. Not well played, sir.

If only we could do something about guns......

Chicago this year has the highest number of reported mass shootings — 14, resulting in a total of 10 deaths. These are one part of the sky-high rate of gun violence in the city, which has seen gun arrests increase by 22 percent this year and a total of 2,200 shootings amid 6,500 seizures of illegal guns.

Why is it that high murder rate cities are controlled by Democrats? What are the demographics of large urban centers? What is the reason that all major population centers, large cities are run by Democrats, and not Republicans? Is there a correlation between Democrat controlled urban areas and high incidents of gun violence? Why aren't Republican controlled cities awash in gun violence? What is the difference in the people that populate violence plagued urban areas? Anything stick out in your opinion? It's just an opportunity to observe our culture, and the trends within its population. What is the obvious reason for the differences between a stable and safe city, and one that resembles a war zone? Care to take a blind stab at it?

It's the president's hometown, where he was a community organizer and where he cut his teeth. It's also been run by democrats as long as anyone can remember. The city is also run by the president's former Chief of Staff and close political friend. And you wonder why it's focused on?

This is the difference in the people that populate violence plagued urban areas:

http://www.amren.com/features/2014/05/confessions-of-a-public-defender/

"My experience has also taught me that blacks are different by almost any measure to all other people. They cannot reason as well. They cannot communicate as well. They cannot control their impulses as well. They are a threat to all who cross their paths, black and non-black alike."

"They get social security disability payments for a mental defect or for a vague and invisible physical ailment. They do not pay for anything: not for housing (Grandma lives on welfare and he lives with her), not for food (Grandma and the baby-momma share with him), and not for child support. When I learn that my 19-year-old defendant does not work or go to school, I ask, “What do you do all day?” He smiles. “You know, just chill.” These men live in a culture with no expectations, no demands, and no shame."

"Part of the problem is that underclass black women begin having babies at age 15. They continue to have babies, with different black men, until they have had five or six. These women do not go to school. They do not work. They are not ashamed to live on public money. They plan their entire lives around the expectation that they will always get free money and never have to work."

Not just conservatives that talk about the violence in Chicago.

The difference, Lost, is that they are largely committed by young black men, and that does not fit the narrative of some racist white dude failing a background check, thereby requiring more gun control.

Therefore, it is not covered, because Libs will not confront violence committed by minorities, and they have no idea how to limit illegal weapons in these populations.

Instead, Clinton wants to make gun makers liable for violence committed illegally by their products.

Why don't they go after the actual criminals for a change?

So, because of this, it can not be true that extreme violence and death is being inflicted in Chicago, or Baltimore, or any other place.

It's all just lies to make Obama look bad.

Yessir it was, and he wasn't happy, and it does answer Woody.

What I am wondering is, does anyone believe what that author is saying? Or conversely, does anyone not believe that what he is describing is what he is seeing? And if you believe he is describing the courthouse scene accurately, do you still think it is only an isolated view of the vocal minority? Hard to square that belief with the stats.
I believe the author's conjecture's are entirely accurate, and the scene he describes accurately mirrors the larger urban ghetto community. That can't be fixed by further govt handouts, or free college, or fantasy jobs. Birth control, curfew, and extreme consequences for anti-social behaviors is the answer. It will be tough love for this generational group, but the next generation will grow up living within society's bounds, and things will be brighter for their future.

How do you propose to bring about Birth Control, curfew, and extreme consequences when BLM, and Democrats are burning down their own cities, and attacking and accusing police of murder? What makes you think the police even care about getting involved in a community that despises them, and calls for their death? The Democrats that control the cities certainly won't say anything that could possibly be interpreted as Politically Incorrect. So, there will be no fixing of these blighted cities. They will just spiral into a situation where they become uninhabitable, and will depopulate, and fall into ruin. The population will be relocated into less blighted areas, and the same scenario will start over again. Of all your suggestions, birth control seems the only effective option to slow, or stop the cycle of violence.

Lost - I never said just Conservatives.  Those are your words being added for spin purposes.  I said, (and this thread is illustrating my point), Conservatives have latched on to Chicago to imply Democrats, (particularly Obama), are to blame.  This city's problems are being harped on for political gain.  Of course, bring these problems to the forefront and other sources will cover them too.

mikec - Nobody said the Chicago theme was a lie.  I agree there is a high rate of murder taking place there.  That said, other cities have higher rates but wouldn't carry the same anti-Obama weight that Chicago does.

I admire your passion my friend, but sometimes your focus wanes. My premise as written in my OP is that 1- this isn't a job for the police (for exactly the reasons that you cite) , and 2- that the pols in charge have already pooped the sheets. Both entities need to sit on the sidelines while the military cleans up the mess.
And I agree with your prognosis that in all likelihood, Darwinisn-at-work won't be enough to stem this tide, and the cycle will continue elsewhere.

EarlyGrace,
I don't know you and I have a different way of expressing myself online. I really try not to offend or personally attack poster (although, once that is all I did).....I do try to understand people's point of view and hope to communicate mine. I say this not because I am going into a full blown attack but I never responded to any of your posts and just wanted to introduce myself somewhat.

Chicago is in a very bad place. Nobody should deny it. I don't know what can be done to make it a better placed. I lived in Los Angeles in the early 90s when they were going through similar things. Things got worse before they got better in Los Angeles. Things got better but not because they had the national guards rolling down the 405 during the '91 Riots.

That stopped looting but the reason for the anger, violence, disrespect of life was still their and killings continued. Thing it was the mid 90s when the police commissioners granddaughter was killed at a Popeye's restaurant that the community, police dept. and politicians let go of their ego and started to make changes.

It also helps that Los Angeles has wealthy citizens of color who could put their money where they mouth was. Magic Johnson brought jobs into the community with his business holdings as did others.

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago during the mid 70s.  I never really saw the type of financial opportunity in Chicago that Los Angeles could offer. For example you can be the best car mechanic in Chicago and dirt poor. While in Los Angles you are pimping somebody wheels for a big pay day.

Part of this is the political environment of Chicago. It's a town where the "cool kids" those with political power have their hands in everything even things they don't know crap about. They are bullies and keep kicking the smaller kids. Many have escaped Chicago to the suburbs or smaller communities but no matter what their political affiliation. They run the same game.

Illinois is a state of the have vs the have nots. Some have nots get a seat at the table and believe they have made it but they haven't. The haves are taking about 40% of their income, providing poor school systems, and keeping the cancer alive.

People in Downers Grove, Rockford, Willmette etc. look at the city of Chicago and see all the crimes, the killings and shake their heads but in fact they are part of a culture that allowed the rise of Joseph Gliniewicz.

The crap flows downhill in Illinois and Chicago is where it lands so people say send military there without considering cutting the rivers that allow the crap to flow. All I am saying is there is more wrong in Chicago than people know.

I have laid blame on so many people but my biggest culprit is the black church which seems to be the only black business growing while their "consumers" continue to die, live in disgusting conditions, and knowledge continues to disappear from the community.

Nearly every school board, heck nearly every board in Illinois is corrupt to the core. It's about making money for them and leaving citizens in distress. Heck I can't even begin to describe the conditions of Chicago and Illinois. I just think it is a myopic view to believe military action will fix it The machine isn't broken, the machine is rigged.

I would strongly discourage using the military as a law enforcement tool. If there is rioting, looting, or massive civil unrest, then send in the National or State Guard. The Military does not operate like Civilian Police Departments, and do not follow long standing policies in dealing with the Public. The military is a destructive force intended to overtake and kill enemy combatants with overwhelming firepower. They are not designed to be used as a police force for our citizenry. For that matter, they are not intended for policing civilian populations in foreign nations where we are conducting military operations. The military is for destroying targets, and killing enemy combatants, not policing.

Pabar, you don't question this statement by LMSS, I see.........Yet, you're quick to question my statement about the "other" churches.......It seems to me that you blame the ills of society in America on a certain group of people......

Now, I'll venture to say this.......Don't know how much you know about LMSS, but, I'm assuming she has experienced a whole lot more of the churches she references........And, that's why she typed her statement as such........

Perhaps, she'll enlighten us..........

I don't have video evidence of a Chicago church leader but below is an example of what happens.

This guy meets with Donald Trump, and goes on Fox News talking about how Trump would be great for the black community. Then he goes on a station more of his parishioner probably watches and talks about the meeting being a waste of time. This is one example of how misdirection and political games work.

Some pastors are more concerned with t.v. time, being connected to powerful people, taking care of #1 then actually providing ministry to their congregation. Keeping the congregation in the dark, un-informed and dependent on them gives them power. Not all, not even a majority are corrupt. The corrupt ones are part of the problem.

Also the black clergy can do no wrong in the eyes of their parishioners.

Doubt many people have ever heard of that "preacher". Why are preachers held to a higher standard than politicians?

KIR, it's like the movie Stepford Wives but worse. Clergy especially historically in  the black communities were often the educated men. They could read, write and communicate well.

This made them leaders. as leaders some got a taste of power and that is one heck of a drug. Some have found a way to control their congregation. It by keeping them un-informed, fearful and indebted.

It's sad to watch people generation after generation unable to break the chain. I am not being anti -Christian. I am anti taking advantage of the poor and under educated who believe these people are gifts fro Gods, or the way to salvation. JMHO

But why are clergy held to higher standard than politicians? Historical stories of the clergy are of little consequence in the here and now IMO. Blacks have had plenty of time to become educated and I have no doubt that they have become so. Blacks, whites, and Hispanics have and always will use their faith as an 'excuse' to stay in the dark on issues that they should school themselves on.

Of course there may be 'corrupt' churches. I had an issue with bluedog's hyperbole as people do my hyperbole at times. I think this statement is pure bullschitt

"The truth is, these people need solutions, not blame......They need to know someone cares about their hopeless living conditions and job opportunities........Corrupt Governments and corrupt churches need to be stopped from ruining the lives of those who live in our cities....."

I will have to be shown a couple of examples where 'corrupt churches are ruining the lives of those who live in our cities'. Sounds like a full blown conspiracy to me. Your youtube clip failed to back up bluedog's bodacious statement.
