This was our experience as well. Same thing at Auburn this year. Fans were enthusiastic and gracious in defeat, wished us well, etc. Agree also with the point about winning and breaks. Good teams largely make their breaks, but both Florida and OU and everyone else at OKC this year were good.

As you should already know, OU fans are good winners and are equally gracious in defeat. And though I've never attended a game at either Auburn or Alabama, I've heard similar things said about the fans at both of those universities.

If anyone has a chip on their shoulder, it would be those posters who are loathe to acknowledge that OU outperformed all five of its opponents in the WCWS and therefore deserved to repeat as national champions. Truth is, OU received a stronger challenge in the Norman Regional than they did in the WCWS.

Right or wrong, that is uncalled for.  And i'd say that 17 inning game will be long remembered before any of those OU regional games.  Just because you fell asleep at the wheel in Norman, doesn't make those regional games more impressive.

What is your point, sir? And what, exactly, do you think is uncalled for?

Of course, that 17-inning game will be long remembered – and rightfully so. That win put OU in the driver's seat in the two-game series with UF. Lose that game and the Sooners would have been in the same hole the Gators found themselves going into the Tuesday night game. But that was not the case, no matter how badly you or anyone else wishes the result was different. The Sooners won that game because they made the plays when it counted. They played better and won the game – and the series. If UF and OU played a best-of-three series this week, the Gators might well come out on top. And if they did, I would damn sure be one of the first to give them their props.

Why is it so difficult for some to admit that OU outplayed Florida, Oregon, Washington and Baylor in the WCWS?  And that the Sooners overcame a bigger challenge in the regionals by winning four elimination games after losing the first game to NDSU? Those are just facts, and in no way was I implying that Tulsa, NDSU and Arkansas are better teams than Florida, Oregon, Washington and Baylor.

The butthurt on this board continues to run deep. It reminds me so much of the Trump haters in the U.S. Government and the news media, all of whom refuse to accept the results of the election. Amazing!!!

You need to pump the brakes.  You love the Sooners, we get it.  But you are rapidly becoming a liability to the image of all Sooner fans on this board.  When your opinions become irrational it doesn't play very well...especially from a newbie.  Chill.....sir.

Fair enough, I guess.

Everyone can continue to post about those lucky Sooners, the team that got every break and the benefit of every call. Though I'm not smart enough to grasp the concept of why that's all true, I'm ready to accept it as gospel and offer no further argument. [thumb]

I would advise you to do a search for the monicker PatGillickProtege and not take your affinity for Ms Chamberlain to that level.

<< It is not a good thing for Lauren to hit a home run.  In the first two games in which she hit a home run this year, both were in the only two games that the Pride has lost.  When Abbott pitched a one-hitter to beat the Pride, the one hit was a Chamberlain home run. In the first game, Lauren also hit a home run and lost. >> (LandLorrety)

You are correct - that the Pride lost each game when Lauren Chamberlain hit a HR - the first two times this season. And those were the ONLY two losses that the Pride had at that time. They won the third game in which she hit a HR this season. So her team is 1-2 when LC has homered so far in 2017.

BUT... this is a HUGE aberration. Here are the numbers for LC before this season...

In 2012, when she hit 30 HR as a freshman at Oklahoma, LC hit a HR in 22 games (she had 8 two HR games).
Oklahoma was 20-2 in those 22 games.
They lost to Missouri (2-4) in their 44th game of the year -
which was the only game Oklahoma lost all season (when LC hit a HR)...
until the final game of the season -
when they lost to Alabama (4-5) in the WCWS deciding game... despite Chamberlain's two HR.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In 2013, when she hit 30 HR as a sophomore, LC hit a HR in 26 games (she had 4 two HR games).
Oklahoma was 26-0 when LC hit a HR in 2013.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In 2014, LC missed about 40% if her team's games with a back injury and a knee injury.
She still managed to hit a HR in 10 games (and she had 2 two HR games).
Oklahoma was 9-1 when LC hit a HR in 2014.
The only time it happened that season - was the very first game of the year when they lost (4-5) to Kentucky.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In 2015, when she hit 23 HR in her senior season, LC hit a HR in 20 games (she had 3 two HR games).
Oklahoma was 18-2 when LC hit a HR in 2015.
They lost to Arizona (4-5) in their 11th game of the year -
which was the only game Oklahoma lost all season (when LC hit a HR)...
until the final game of the season -
when they lost to Alabama (3-5) in the deciding game of the super regional... despite LC's two HR.

=================================

Chamberlain hit two HR in a game 17 times during her college career.
The ONLY times Oklahoma lost when she hit two HR in a game -
was in the deciding third and final (WCWS) game of her freshman season -
and the deciding third and final (super regional) game of her senior season (both times vs. Alabama).

What are the odds of THAT happening..????

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Over her four seasons with Oklahoma - LC hit a HR in 78 games.
Oklahoma won 94% of those games (73-5).

===============================

In her first NPF season (2015), LC hit a HR in 4 games (she had 1 two HR game).
The Pride won all four times that LC homered.

In her second NPF season (2016), LC hit a HR in 8 games (she had 1 two HR game).
The Pride won 7 of those 8 games.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So... before this 2017 season... (adding Oklahoma to the Pride games)
LC's teams had gone 84-6 when she had homered.

-------------------------------------------------------

This season... they are 1-2.
And those are their only two losses.

Go figure...
